We were very happy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel lobby, the restaurant and our room were all very clean and comfortable. Our breakfast was excellent with many choices at the buffet and also included anything on the menu. Again, the staff at the restaurant was very pleasant. We recommend this lovely little hotel very highly. The city of Varazdin is also definitely worth a stop and visit while in that part of Croatia. It is an easy and quick drive from Zagreb.
Due to flight problems in UK we arrived in Croatia very late and having called up before hand to let them know about our late check-in, they had someone waiting to meet us on arrival.
Finding the hotel at night in our hire car using the map provided was straight forward and if you have any problems trying to find it, just follow the signs for the bus and train station, as the hotel is next to the bus station and across the road from the train station.
There is a good sized car park right outside the hotel, but the entrance into the hotel is actually from the car park elevation.
We arrived in the rain, parked up and walked around to what would be the front of the hotel on the main street fronting the railway station. There was no entrance here and we had to walk back around to the car park elevation.
The reception is on the first floor up a flight of stairs and whilst small is very professional and well laid out.
Unusually they still use room keys here and our room was absolutely spotless and well made up with a large double bed, wardrobe with additional blankets and pressing iron.
There is fast WiFi access in the rooms which I used and was perfectly adequate, but bring your own laptop as I did not see any public use hotel computers
The bathroom was also immaculately clean and it had an interesting shower that had everything in it including a radio. Only problem was for me I couldn’t see the dials ( and there are a few) to properly operate it whilst in the shower as I did not have glasses on. That said it put a fun element into having a shower, and when I got the rain shower setting going it really is fabulous. ( BTW if anyone else stays there and figures out what the 2 rollers are in the shower with a shower jet I would love to know).
The breakfast is a self service buffet of hot sausages/ omlettes and cold selection of meats, cheeses etc. This was good.
We walked to the Castle from the hotel and this was about 10 mins. It is a nice walk and the castle is worth a visit as is the street market area. People in Varazdin seemed very tourist friendly.
There is a bank about 5 mins walk away from the hotel and what seems like a small cottage hospital about 2 mins walk from the hotel.
For us it was ideally located and easy to get to by foot and car.
In the evening the bar stayed open and the staff were welcoming and sociable. All in all it was a good 2 days, despite the weather and the hotel was extremely good value. When I re-visit Varazdin I will definitely stay in this hotel again.
This hotel may not look like much from the outside, but it is spotlessly clean and run very professionally.
The rooms are well air conditioned (it was hot when we were there) soundproofed against the noise of other room occupants and really well located.
The train station is across the road, the hospital and chemist are just on the other side, there is a great bar and restaurant and the food was fresh, tasty and plentiful. Some of the best meals we had were at this hotel, with fresh fruit and vegetables part of every meal served (this was not the case in other places).
It is not expensive, it has high speed wi-fi in each room and the bathroom was clean and had funny showers which were like being in a space capsule.....definitely different!
We walked into town quickly and easily on a flat walk with shops and cafes along the way.
I highly recommend this hotel.
What suits us is that it is located in center of the town, where you can just walk around, free parking and free internet and most of all it has three person rooms, with proper third bed, which we can't find very often (usually foldable bed is provided).
Personnel is always super helpful and pleasant and they let us stay after check out time, if possible, due to our activities on last day.
On our last visit we saw that some standards have dropped a little bit (breakfast selections not as versatile and abundant as before, interior design suffers a bit, smell of kitchen in corridors in the morning, bathrooms show aging and need some maintenance) but it is not so drastic.
Price is a bit elevated comparing to same kind of hotels in Europe, but not for much.
Overall nice place and that's why we keep coming back.
Restaurant with fantastic menu, food amazing..
We stayed there for 2 night and we enjoyed it very much!
Clean rooms, clean toilet with massage shower tub.
tv, wifi, full mini bar with reasonable prices included.
Hotel is situated across the train station, has a parking lot a outer terrace.
It is also located next to hospital.
The restaurant is very good, the waiter very friendly and always with good suggestions. Breakfast was also nice.
It is right in front of the train station, but don't let that bother you. The area is very nice and the double windows make the rooms very quiet. And they have AC, in addition to a somewhat science-fiction shower.
Highly recommended. The only reason I don't give 5 'stars' is because they lack elevator and some of the 'extra functions' from the shower were not working. But appart from these minor things, I had a great experience there.
On the positive side - staff was very friendly, receptionist was handsome, wifi worked well, food in restaurant was fab.
Overall, I would not go back and the same I can recommend others. I did not have a chance to try other hotels in Varazdin so maybe this one is the best in the city but it certainly is not the best I have visited.
