Lovely experience with the staff. Dario met us at 3am to guide us into town and lady on reception equally as helpful. Location is AWESOME and the town an absolute hidden gem - very charming. Definitely recommend. Bikes available too if you want to get out of town
We could not have asked for more. The manager, Alex, could not do enough for us. From parking the car to sharing his views on what to see to going back to the car to fetch our snorkelling gear! What a star. The hotel itself is implacably clean and comfortable. It is in a brilliant location - in the centre of the old town surrounded by bars and restaurants but also in a quiet street. It is very quirky. For instance you use a tunnel to go from the rooms to breakfast! The breakfast kept us going until the evening. We ate in the restaurant one night and that was very good too. Highly recommend this place.
It was definitely quiet during the off season. It was difficult to find a restaurant open at night but we loved the quiet and the relaxed feel of the place. It was great to stay in the middle of the Old Town. We parked our car in the public parking area. Although they were willing to collect us we opted to walk and found the place without too much trouble. Our advice is to head to the main square and go from there. Alex was wonderful in answering our questions and her breakfast was a great start to the day. Her suggestion to go for a bike ride was great advice. We loved our three days in Rovinj.
I’ve been staying at Casa Garzotto for 3 nights this December. Hotel concept is very charming, I felt like a heroine of medieval fairy tale living in a room furnished with antiques and fireplace. I enjoyed the roomview with narrow colorful street, even with raining weather it was beautiful! The owner was very attentive, helped me with parking, told about sights, and I’ve got even a delicious complimentary dinner. Thank you for hospitality! Sure, in the season-off about 70% of entertainment is closed. Nevertheless, Rovinj is ravishing town!! I explored beautiful corners of nature by bike, hotel provides them for free. I wish to come back here in summer! And definitely I’ll stay at Casa Garzotto!
The concept of staying in a medieval building is charming, quaint, and nostalgic but for 130 Euro/night, the amenities and service are very lacking. I can only guess that the owners are tired from the high season and maybe just weary of tourists but I felt that I paid an incredibly high price for almost non-existent service. Because I was the only guest, breakfast was something I needed to request on WhatsApp with the owner. There is no kettle in the room for tea or coffee so there is no luxuriating in the pricey room with a warm beverage - you have to wait for the owner to get there and honestly, he can't cook and it's obvious he just rolled out of bed. I more or less took care of myself and crept around the tunnel area (very creepy) near the kitchen trying to find food for myself (most mini-markets and stores were closed for the season). It was just strange. Yes, I was offered breakfast and even dinner but it was like they'd rather be at home than be at reception (which they almost never were) or having breakfast ready at a set time. The tipping point was the value for the money - it's simply not there. I had a room with a fireplace but no fire! How is that ok? I should have had a fire every evening for 130 Euro. The owner said it was due to a low pressure system that I couldn't have a fire without the room being smokey. Well, the weather lifted and so his excuse was no longer valid. And, the room is smokey regardless of weather due to it being at the rooftops thus getting smoke from neighboring chimneys. Also, hot water lasts for 30-45 SECONDS - yes, you read correctly - there is no hot water to be had. I don't complain during my stay because it involves someone being in my room on my time and that is simply unacceptable. I am stunned that this is a Rick Steves' recommendation. I also want to note that if you are a woman travelling alone -- avoid this place.…
