Marija is amazing, full of energy, always positive. Her husband speaks fluent English but Marija has definitely learned to communicate in other ways and takes very good care of her guests. The apartment was clean and well equipped, with great hot water and excellent self-controlled air conditioning. There are two supermarkets close by, a great restaurant just steps away and a fine bakery a few steps more, a twenty minute downhill walk to Mulini or Old Town, with the walk back only slightly uphill. Nice and quiet, perfect for a longer stay. If you drive, she has parking as well.
Villa Marija was a wonderful place to stay. Very clean and bright. All the necessities - and best of all, a comfortable bed with great pillows! Marija was the perfect host. She spent time with us to make sure we were settled in well and gave us the perfect recommendation for dinner our first night. Straight down the street from the apartment is Restaurant Maslina ... and it was everything Marija promised. It was a pleasure staying at Villa Marija and we hope to go back again.
Our host Marija is super nice.I've sent email to her asking if we can leave our luggage in her house in the morning, then explore Rovinj, and she agreed. When we arrived her house at 8:30,she welcomed us with 2 welcoming drinks. Then took us to our room and told us we can check in at that moment! She thought we would like to sleep at that moment haha! She is really kind and helpful! She introduced us the facilities patiently! Our room is really cosy! There is a big wardrobe and large double bed, also with a lovely balcony! Our private toilet is outside the room,it's clean and tidy! All in all, we had a good stay here and we would recommend it to the travelers !
We found Villa Marija on Booking.com and chose it based on the excellent reviews we read here on Trip Advisor. It was such a good pick! Since we had a car and a fair bit of luggage we knew that we did not want to stay in the Old Town itself, and it was an easy walk from the apartments into town when we were ready to go in to explore. Marija and her husband were so kind and welcoming. Even though their English was not the best (though they spoke Croatian, Italian and German fluently) they managed to communicate all the necessary information and were always happy to help if we needed anything. The apartment itself was lovely - spacious and clean and with great views from the balcony.
We had trouble finding it (if using a GPS, enter "Martinuzzi", not the full street name), but what a lovely welcome we received when we got there! Marija is such a warm, friendly person who goes to a lot of effort to make sure you're happy. The room was perfect, the neighbourhood pleasant to stroll around in, and it's only a short easy walk to downtown Rovinj and the waterfront. On our second evening Marija offered us coffee next morning, but when it arrived it was a full breakfast! Such a shame, because based on what had been arranged we had already bought breakfast food so had to return most of Marija's generous offer untouched. Just one thing: the wifi signal is weak, but that didn't bother us too much. We found Rovinj a great base for exploring coastal towns like Porec and Pula, as well as picturesque villages in the hills, like Motovun, Roc and Hum. We can certainly recommend Marija's hospitality to anyone planning on visiting this area.…
