THREE STAR CHARMING AND MODERN HOTEL IN POREČ, CROATIA Hotel Materada is renowned for its charm and atmosphere, spotless surroundings, well-kept gardens, playgrounds and probably the best Blue Flag beach in all Poreč according to our guests. Rooms are modern and cozy with lovely bathrooms and fantastic sea, pool and Poreč views, that get better in the evenings as the restaurant lights change colour adding to the magical atmosphere of the park. Rooms overlooking the pool get to enjoy evening entertainment from their balconies, so if you are looking for a quiet location, you'd be better off with a park view room. Plenty of things to do, from Mini Clubs and various supervised children activities, to all kinds of sports, excursions and adventure - you can set of on daily trips to Venice, nearby islands, take your kids to a dinosaur park or a bird reserve in Palud.

Detailed Reviews
Me and my partner stayed here for a week in August. The hotel is very clean and modern, with lots of seating around the reception, bars and pool area. The room we stayed in was very small, but clean. The balcony looked out onto the carpark, but was surrounded by lovely pine trees and was very well kept. We decided to eat out some nights in town as the food was basic and quite repetitive. Both breakfast and evening meals were very busy at whatever time we went, due to it being the school holidays there were lots of children. The drinks included in the half board plus are diluted cordial, rola cola or one choice of beer and white/red wine - it would be a lot better if you could choose your own drinks it would be worth the extra money!
Staff were polite. It was about 30 - 40 minutes walk into the town, most of the time we got on the little tourist train which was only about £3 for both of us each way. The surrounding beaches at the hotel are beautiful and I would highly recommend wearing water shoes! There is also a restaurant on the beach where we had drinks and dinner a few times it was lovely fresh food.
All in all I would say this is a standard 3 star hotel.

During high sesson hotel offers a very attractive animation program for adults and children. The kids club is open from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00. Alsow there is a games room with slot machines all day long and a second room with free PlayStation, chess and table tennis. There is also a mini disco for children from Sunday to Friday from 20:00 to 21:00. At 12:30-13:00 every children can eat free lunch in restaurant.

Positive aspects include the good location near the sea, the large and well-kept outdoor area of the hotel, and the good parking facilities. The bar offers a large selection of food and drinks at moderate prices (compared to other restaurants in the area).
Unfortunately, there are also many points of criticism:
The TV in our room was broken (it was quickly repaired or replaced upon request), the air conditioning was dripping, the cover glass of a reading lamp was missing, the carpet was dirty, and the room had a bad smell of sour milk that lingered even after days. The cleaning of the room was generally inadequate. The rooms are small (allegedly 21 square meters, I can't check), there is no place to put your suitcase and the exit to the balcony is blocked by a chair.
The dining room has the feel of a canteen, it is better outside. The quality of the food could be improved. You get full, but that's all. Various drinks (beer, water, wine, lemonade) are available free of charge at the buffet.
The pool is OK, there could be more loungers. Entertainment (including mini disco) was OK.
Would I book the hotel again? No. Reason: size of the room, cleanliness, food.

Check in strictly after 2. 3 lifts however only 2 go to dinning/pool. They also break down due to the amount of people using them. The rooms on both side are the same it's just the view that's different. Rooms are clean, bathroom is good, no tea or coffee in the room. We went to Lidl for a kettle etc.
The pool is freezing but the sea is ok, however, it is difficult to get in if you have mobility issues. Night time entertainment is ok but not done by the animation team, they have local acts come in. Service for drinks is good, they would still like Kuna instead of Euro and I suggest you pay everything in Kuna as the exchange rate somewhat changes by the hour. Sunbeds can be a problem by the pool. Towels at dawn!
The car park get very full and you will not get the same spot when you come back.
The taxi firm is 13 euro into Porec we used Taxi Porec Marko, google and use messenger, lovely man. Parking in Porec can be hit and miss and is 1 euro p/h.
Boat trips book on the harbour.
The hotel is a lot of money for what you get, we drove and for the same price, 4 B&B on way down, 6B&B on way back, fuel, ferry, lunches and dinner, could have got Jamaica AI for 2 weeks.
This is not the best coast line in Croatia, and it will be out last time, (we have driven 5 times).

We stayed in this hotel for a week with our 7-year-old son. The entertainment was great, very helpful and friendly! Food: free drinks were not particularly good except for beer. The breakfast buffet was sufficient (coffee not particularly good) and mostly good. The evening meal included dishes ranging from OK to very good. For a 3-star hotel, I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of food (really large selection and everyone should be able to find at least one dish that they like), quality and, as mentioned, good taste. One point deducted for the size of the rooms (very small) and the horror of the sunbed occupiers. Rigorous action should be taken against guests who reserve sunbeds from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and have not used the sunbeds once during this time, let alone seen them! 2 sunbeds per room would be fine for everyone, but some are three people and occupy 4 sunbeds.
As a family, we would be happy to come back

Ecxellent hotel. I felt like I was in 4* hotel. The hotel itself, the surrounding, the location of the hotel is perfect. Also the food is great-you can find various of different delicious dishes...and the stuff is very nice. The room was on the top floor and it has a view of the sea ant Pore oldtown. Recommend. 🙂

My husband and I booked the hotel as a last minute cheap deal and on first impressions we were impressed. The hotel is in a nice setting with well tended gardens and a short walk to the seafront promenade, great if you want to lie around the pool all week but we found it too cut off. There are no local buses in the area at all and the small tourist train was 1km away and had very restricted times being early season. A taxi into porec was £20 each way.
Hotel food was typical for a large tourist hotel and we always found something to eat.
The bedrooms however are extremely small and very basic no storage cupboards or drawers for anything at all.the bathrooms are so small the shower door wouldn't open fully as banged into the toilet and the bathroom door couldn't open fully due to the towel rail behind it. You get bigger bathrooms on cruise ships !
The main down side was the constant stream of tourist coaches which used the hotel on a daily basis ( 8 full coaches on one particular day )which left the hotel more like a travel lodge motel and not like a relaxing away from it all holiday break.
In all an OK hotel for the money we paid but not somewhere we would return to unless in a coach party.

Great hotel albeit a little out of the way. Very clean, good food except the coffee at breakfast was awful. The restaurant is a bit like a canteen and if you want a table outside be prepared for a 6:30pm dash! Free wine and beer at dinner but not the best quality. No problem with sun beds, plenty available without having to get up at silly o’clock. Would suggest you email the hotel to ask for a room overlooking the pool on a high floor. We were in room 452, which was perfect. Not many Brits at the hotel but wasn’t a pooroblem. Porec old town is fabulous, there is a little tourist train from the Valamar Marea hotel for 2 euros each way. Cuts down the walking time from 45 mins to about 20mins. Plenty of restaurants in the area to eat out. Prices very reasonable. Overall a great holiday

Nice hotel, right by the sea. Between the large pool and the sea there is a magnificent well-kept park that can also be used as a sunbathing area.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. Our children have taken the nice iceman into their hearts. But also other waitresses and the gentleman at the pool were very nice, which also did not seem put on. This is part of a successful stay and is much nicer than if the staff just put away the dishes in a phantom and robotic way.

Cause of a car-repairment, we had to wait and stayed 3 nights. Service from reception, Restaurant, cleaning Personal and of course Animation Team especially Maja, Tarisa and Bartek was perfekt. We had allways kindly and helpful workers there, Who tried to make US everyday happy. All Our whishes were fullfilled. Unfortunately we had to leave. Our 6 year old son, was very happy especially with Maja, Tarisa and Bartek. We say thank you to you all, whole hotel was really good.

Hello, there are no shops or supermarke around. Just the beach restaurants. The pool towels are available every day. Hope it helps you :)
About 5 minutes walking.
Dinner is from 6.30 to 9pm. Pool water is sweet.
Unfortunately we never used the public transport as we walked everywhere we needed other than the tourist train which was very reliable and cheap - however looking back perhaps a car would be useful as many guests staying at The Materada arrived by car and there was a huge car park - have a great holiday
