I had a wonderful time in Resort by Valamar! Nice, and clean.. staff was very nice to us. Everything was great. We had a team building with out collegues and for 2 stars hotels, this is comfortable. Resort is so big, have several beaches. Think is not such for families, maybe is more for friends or couples..

We stayed for nights and I have never stayed in a 2 star facility before. So basically, no A/C. However, we were looking for accomodation in peak season, which is now so for the cost of 64 Euros a night, we booked into the Lanterna Apartments. Note: Renovated apartments is misleading-- they are old apartments but basic and functional and more or less clean. The only difference between Lanterna Premium apartments and Lanterna Sunset apartments is that the Sunset has a microwave oven and a tv and will cost you more.

The Lanterna apartments are great for people with young kids if they want to have a beach holiday with activities and lots of places to run around. Vacationing at this time of year is expensive so really, this is the way to go-- and the way is follow the German/Austrian/Dutch travellers who vacation here every year.

The key to having a great time here is to bring up your 2 star apartment to a 4 star-- every apartment has a balcony or terrace. Families come equipped with... and I am not kidding... their own electric grills, microwaves, tv's, satellite dishes and small fans and A/C units which they use.

Instead of paying 24 Euros for a breakfast and dinner buffet per person per day, they cook in their units or have their own grill parties. You can really save a lot of money, enjoy flexible eating times and just conduct your holiday at your own time.

Groceries are expensive in the resort at the small supermarket so before arrival stock up on food and lug the perishables in coolers or even electric coolers.

The Europeans really have this routine down and I was in awe of their strategies... so to have a good time if you want a budget holiday and you have small kids who will make noise like all the others, bring the following:
- your own non-stick cookware
- sponges for dishwashing/ dish towels
- liquid dish detergent
- paper cups/ plates/ utensils
- hard cheese -- it keeps easily in a cooler when you transport it
- all spices like sugar, salt, pepper, garlic, chili flakes, oregano, basil, etc.....
- margarine/jams/nutella, etc......
- instant coffee/ creamer/ teabags
- tin foil, wax paper, saran wrap -- you can make sandwiches to take to the beach in your cooler
- paper towels
- alarm clock -- no clock in the apartment
- a swiffer
- some type of all purpose cleaner in a spray bottle
- laundry line to hang clothes on the balcony - they have a rack and have the hooks so that you can hang a wire-- and clothes pins if you want
- chocolates, chips, candy -- they are expensive at the resort to buy
-- tv or dvd player, cd player
-- electric fan or portable AC unit
-- condiments: ketchup, mustard, relish, mayonnaise etc....
- electric grill for a nice bbq
-- deep fryer
-- mosquito repellant
-- ice cube bags or trays
-- hand soap in a pump
-- napkins
-- hair dryer
-- wines of your choice
-- extension cord
-- canned tomatoes , tuna

there is a great bakery on site open from 7 am til 2pm selling fresh bread, baguettes, croissants -- affordable

there is also a small fruit/vegetable stand that sells great produce from local farms -- amazing grapes, watermelon, .....

ice - cream is cheap -- 7 Kunas per scoop (large scoops) and the pizza at the Zodiac restaurant is excellent with a salami pizza at about 45 Euros.

Internet wireless is available at the bar/lounge place so order your ice-cream drinks there and surf comfortably.

Delfin restaurant -- we ate there twice - very good and service is great -- wonderful view of watching the sunset. We ate the shark steak, the calamari, the mussels...... all delicious!

Water was clear and beach area was very clean -- no cigarette butts lying around -- they pick them up! Great snorkelling adventures and don't forget to bring your air matresses, tents, water boards, and yes, you have to wear water shoes so you don't cut your feet on any rocks or other stuff.

I would only recommend this hotel with young couples with young children who want to have a nice beach vacation -- the walls are paper thin so keep in mind to bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.
But there are lots of kids there so your kids will make friends.

Basically everyone there is German -- it's like a German colony and they keep their kids in line and it is clean and orderly.
Staff all speak German.

We loved staying at this resort, even though the apartments and furniture were quite dated. The beaches definitely made up for any lack of charm in the apartment itself. They were rocky with clear water of the color you can only see in the Adriatic. Perfect for snorkeling or rock scrambling looking for crabs.
The apartments are located a short walk from the beach in pine forests, so you get that lovely scent in the air. Yes, there were a few noisy families around, but I didn't notice any groups of drunken teenagers. Mostly quiet holiday-makers like ourselves. We had a great dinner in one of the seaside restaurants, and for a reasonable price. Yes, there were a few spiderwebs, but there was also a broom to clean them up.
This is clearly a resort left over from the yugoslavian period, but it has been kept up and is in better condition than others we have seen. The property includes a campground and a resort hotel complete with swimming pools, tennis courts and another beach, this one with entertainment and water toys (big ones) for rent. All in all, a nice place to spend a vacation, and we wish we'd had a few more days there.

We was slightly apprehensive about our visit due to covid-19, but there was no need to worry at all.
Hand sanitisers everywhere, masks worn and social distancing being adhered to.
It was lovely and quiet and we had a fantastic well needed break from being in lock down for months. We felt safer here than in our own home town.
This was our second visit to Lanterna and once again it did not disappoint.
We arrived from Pula airport earlier than expected but was allowed to check in straight away by the friendly receptionist.
There was a long walk to our apartment and once we got there I could not stay in it as the trees was touching our balcony and I felt very claustrophobia, but there was no problem In us going to look at other apartments to find one that suited. The receptionist apologised for not being able to offer more as not all apartments had been cleaned due to them having to be left 72 hours before the cleaners could enter. Most of the apartments are very basic and in need of a lick of a paint and they could do with some comfortable sofa beds put in as my daughter said it is the most uncomfortable one she has ever slept on, but the apartment itself was clean and we were supplied with fresh towels and sheets a few times during our week stay.
It has a very relaxing feel to the area and has beautiful gorgeous clear blue sea, perfect for snorkelling off the rocks and absolutely stunning sunsets, the best view is down by the lighthouse.
Lanterna is part of a large complex containing several other resorts on the peninsula. Sunny Resort itself doesn't have many facilities but there are plenty of things to do on the peninsula if you wish to do so.
The Resort has so much potential and some people are put off by its shabby appearance but we absolutely love the relaxed calming atmosphere and location and will definitely return for a third time as it is fantastic value for money.

Firstly we have stayed at Lanterna twice before and have always been happy here.
However, this time on arrival, it was quite clear that the whole place had become very run down since our last visit a year ago.
We know that this is classed as basic, no frills resort but even basic should minimal standards, but there are empty shop spaces, scruffy grounds and buildings and graffiti on apartment walls.
Before even checking in we decided to have a quick coffee in the cafe beside reception, at this point alarm bells started to ring when my teenage daughter mentioned that a man was constantly staring at her, making her feel very uncomfortable.
At check in, we requested a fan, knowing that the rooms do get extremely hot during the night as there is no air conditioning. We was told none was available but one would be brought to our apartment the next day.
On entering the apartment, we noticed basic items was missing, for example a kettle, so we went back to reception, the Valamar receptionist/specialist dealt with the issue of the kettle and other items quickly, we also reminded him about the fan, which is almost a medical necessity to me, as I can not get to hot. Only to be told that if we want one to go to the supermarket which is 3 km away and purchase one ourselves, we was absolutely astounded at this response! as paying guests we would expect a more professional response to the matter. Needless to say we had a very uncomfortable night in an apartment that was almost like an oven, and none of us slept well of at all.
On the second day, whilst my daughter and I was going to the supermarket I noticed Valamar workers leering at my daughter in a very uncomfortable manner, this put us both on edge and made my daughter so anxious that she will not go anywhere on the resort alone.
By day three of our week holiday, still no fan despite reminders at reception so none of us have slept well since being here and we do not feel very safe on the resort or even in our apartment as the door is not very secure and there are drunken youngsters in apartments around us that come home at all hours of the night tapping on doors and windows, this is suppose to be a family resort?!?
In light of all of the above we decided to take a very expensive and extraordinary step and check out early, and find other accommodation where we can feel safer and have a relaxing and comfortable holiday!
I am very sorry but we will not be returning for a fourth time and we are very surprised that Valamar puts their name to this resort any more!

This place is not safe for families and is intimidating for teenage girls with guests caught taking photographs of our teenage daughter and Valamar staff leering at her. Needless to say she was very distraught to the point she refused to leave the apartment.

Accommodation is very basic and like an oven. Despite Valamar staff promising a fan this did not arrive during our stay which lead to none of us getting a proper nights sleep. In fact, a member of staff very rudely told us to go and buy one!

There were also cockroaches in the apartment, the door frame was broken and there were lots of drunken young people who seemed to party most of the day, all of which added to our fears for our health and safety.

How Valamar can put its name to this place is beyond comprehension!

If you want to enjoy everything Croatia has the offer then try anywhere else!!

We came for a family holiday, on a budget so we sere thrilled with a price for a three bedroom apt. Accomodation was pretty much everything you need on a coast:clean simple comfortable with large balcony vith see view (top priority). Stone throw from the beach, plenty of shade im pine three mini forest, three restaurats, plenty od ice cream stands for kids, wild shores turnes to turist friendly spots, mafije life to explore just 20-30 meters from the beach... To nam a few. But what counts the most:smiles aplenty from all the staff from house keeping to suvenir guy, Istria and Lanterna will make you feel like long lost friend that finally came back home.

I was a solo traveller and on my motorbike so a quiet room was very important to me so I could enjoy a good night sleep. Suzana checked me in and looked after me as it was pretty busy at Reception when I arrived. I got my room only to discover that it was surrounded by school kids on their summer vacation and from experience I know, they can be loud. I then went back to Reception and asked if they could swap my room and as they were full, it proved to be difficult but thanks to Susana's efforts I was given a new room which was quite, so thank you Suzana for understanding that. It was so good I stayed another night. The resort itself is massive, lots to do and see, a bit run down in parts (you get what you pay for as they also have a four star hotel on site) but the friendly staff (thank you Goran and Anamaria) made up for that. The ocean is so salty, that you can float in it, and if you are very lucky, as I was, you could see the dolphins swimming. So all in all a good stay for me. Thank you.
