Detailed Reviews
I've stayed at the Mediteran twice now and am hopeful that I will get to continue to do so annually! I've stayed at all the Plava Lugana hotels, apartments, and villas along the Plava Laguna coast and this one is by far my favorite! What I absolutely love about this hotel is basically everything! The hotel itself is beautiful, clean, and tranquil (even at 100% occupancy there is a feeling of calm and relaxation at all times), the food is delicious with a lot of options, there is entertainment, such as pool aerobics, and nightly live music and shows. But the BEST thing about this hotel is it's location! You can not beat it! The walking paths to the ocean front, or to Porec are beautiful, and if you are tired from walking, there is the tourist train that you can jump on. The rooms are good and clean, and the beds are pretty comfortable. Every single person that works there is very friendly, genuinely nice, and take pride in their job!
The only thing about this hotel is that it's not accommodating for handicapped people and for those that can not/have difficulty climbing stairs. There are only a set of elevators that lead to the floors where rooms are located, however you do have to climb up and down a set of stairs to access them. There are other parts of the hotel, like to the restaurant, that is only accessible by stairs, the pool area, and then the path out from the hotel to the coast. There is a mix of having/not having handrails depending on the location of the stairs. For me personally, I have difficulty climbing stairs and need a handrail, not having this option does not allow me to stay at this hotel in the future. I did talk to the MOD at check out and was told that the hotel has attempted to pass handrails (as well as curbs for wheelchairs) being installed in the hotel every year, but the owners do not allow this. I am hopeful that a public review on a massive platform will encarage them to pass this, as not having them limits a lot of guests being able to stay at this hotel and enjoy it. Please do not respond in recommedations to stay at other more accessible hotels, I know what they are, I just don't want to stay at any other hotel in Plava Laguna than the Mediteran, so I am specifically asking that a handrail be added to the entrance to the hotel at the front stairs.
Thank you so much for reading this and taking it under consideration.
I look forward to future stays here, hopefully!

A big, luxurious hotel in the beautiful Budva. The hotel was big and 2 minutes from the sea front.
It hosted a Balkan night on our visit and for €15 per person you could have unlimited drinks all evening.
For such a big hotel the WiFi was rubbish, coming and going all the time. This was a problem in a non EU country where you are reliant on WiFi to keep in contact with family.
This hotel had wonderful breakfasts, with a chef cooking pancakes and waffles to order.... heaven!

The service at the hotel can best be described as businesslike rather than warm and friendly, from reception, waiters and bar staff, it was perfunctory throughout.
We had room 161 which was incredibly basic, overlooking the front of the hotel and the car park. I say overlooking but it had about a 2 square foot step outside that faced grey blinds, to see anything you had to peer around them. It was a small, poky room not unlike a cell. If you want a bigger, better room with a view then you will have to pay extra for it. The room itself was kept very clean and we always had fresh towels and bed linen, in fact it's one of the cleanest places that I've stayed at. Another plus is that the room is carpeted which keeps everything lovely and quiet, no heels clacking on floor tiles or hearing suitcases trundling past your room at all hours.
The location is absolutely beautiful and this is why I gave it a higher rating than perhaps it deserved. You are surrounded by lush woodland that is kept immaculate. The adriatic sea looks wonderful, so clean. The hotel grounds are kept in good condition, pool areas, hammock section and sun lounger area are all kept clean, neat & tidy. There is plenty to do nearby, tennis, mini golf, cycling and walks. Unfortunately the boats and pedalo's were not available for use when we went in May. Porec itself is a lovely town and certainly rivals beautiful Rovinj which is a 45 minute bus ride away.
Food at the hotel is good quality and plentiful, all the usual food stuffs you would expect and you can help yourself to wine, bear and soft drinks. There was entertainment on every night from 8pm, normally in a specific room in the hotel, although on our last night for some reason they played outside. I don't know why as the weather in the evening had cooled and was no way near warm enough for us, so unfortunately we gave it a miss.
All in all a very good holiday.

Booked this hotel via TUI and went with a friend for 11 nights half board plus ( wine, beer and soft drinks on tap at dinner, serve yourself).
Am pleased with the hotel as there were many positives.
1. Location is superb, right on the coastline with their own little beach. Beautiful 2km walk through the trees to Porec or take the land train.
2. Grounds and public areas are immaculate. There are always people cleaning common areas, all maintained superbly. All staff professional.
3. Excellent pool and loungers; some around the pool and others on two different tiers.
4. Our room was very good; comfortable beds, good fridge, balcony, storage, powerful shower etc. Safety deposit box hire not included but very cheap. Towels changed daily.
5. Good range of times for breakfast and lunch.
6. Good variety of food being constantly replenished.
7. Mix of nationalities, although German easily the majority.
8. Waiting/table clearing/restaurant staff very efficient
Areas to be imoroved:
1. While towels were changed daily and beds made, the room could have done with hoovering, shower cleaned etc and it didn't appear to happen more than once.
2. Lack of useful food labelling makes any firm of dietary issue a challenge. I am veggie and am quite happy to make up unusual meals from a buffet (it is three star, I don't expect a fine dining experience!) the lack of labelling was an issue. For example the scrambled eggs were always labelled as that, even though some days there was ham in them on closer inspection. Just a simple v would be very helpful.
All in all, we had a great holiday in beautiful Istria and this hotel delivered what I hoped it would. Good value for money.

This hotel is lovely as are the staff. If you get a room overlooking the pool they are bigger but not yet updated so a little old fashioned, The rooms on the other side are tiny with not really a balcony just a 3 foot square space, not for us as we like to sit on our balcony in the evenings.
The staff all wear face coverings but not one of them cover their nose too.
Not many English people seem to use this hotel and we didn't meet any others for the first 4 days and not even a rep although there were German reps so not due to covid.
The Entertainment is terrible and always the same even though they have different singers and all the dancing was of the ballroom style.
The beach is mostly ladders into the sea or a few little shingle/pebble coves and hundreds of little clear jelly fish which are perfectly harmless.
There is a little train which comes every half hour and takes you into the town for a couple of pound each, unfortunately by the time it comes to the hotel it is usually full or they cram you on next to people who don't look to happy to squash up a bit. You can walk to the town in about 20/30mins.
The pool is a lot smaller than it looks and unfortunately they seem to allow people to put towels on the beds from 8am who then disappear for most of the day. You can get a card from the reception and collect a towel from the pool for free and change it whenever needed but the towels seemed to smell like chip fat. They don't tell you you can do this when you check in or much else other than directions to your room and where the restaurant is.
There is a shop that we went to several times but always seemed to be shut.
The town is lovely but small and once you have been a few times you know it.
All in all we had a nice relaxing time but I wouldn't say fantastic.

We went in September 2019 and have been waiting to review this hotel as we have been in dispute with JET2 over compensation (which we eventually received) for no hot water in our room for the first three 3 days of our holiday. We asked to be moved every day and were lied to and fobbed off by the Reception Manager and his unhelpful and miserable staff. On the 4th day we were to a new room where the water was hot.
There were many problems with this hotel as follows, the majority of the staff were very sad looking and did not want to talk to us, we mentioned this to the manager and he said he had many complaints about his staff's attitude, also the staff's accommodation is above the main entrance and whenever we entered the hotel there were staff hanging out of their balconies smoking, which was very offputting and not very nice to see certainly not a welcoming site as you enter the hotel.
To enter the two swimming pools areas you had to walk through a 4 meter square area of 6 inch deep water or negotiate a very thin ledge to go round the water which most people did which was very dangerous. All the sunbeds were hard white plastic no sunbed covers, most keen sunbathers like ourselves had to go and buy sunbed covers and the majority of the other guests did the same, the most you could last out on the hard white plastic sunbeds was about 10 minutes.
The food was geared up for Germans, Russians and Polish guests, fish cooked whole and completely tasteless, frankfurters, etc,etc the list is endless but favouring the East Europeans this hotel is not suitable for British people or Western Europeans.
I have reviewed many hotels all over the world this is the worst one I have ever stayed in I DO NOT recommend anyone to stay here.
As the wife, I have never stayed in such a bad hotel. The food was very poor, our room 67 was in the basement, it was cold and dark and no hot water for 3 days. It was the first time in my life that I wanted to come home after the first day, thank goodness we were only there a week.
For the above reasons we can only give this hotel 1 star.

I'll start with the good:
the hotel has a good renovation, but the rooms are small, although, it's a 3 *. Comfortable bed, mattress.
Very good location.
From the negative:
1.First settled with the view "On park"
Which represented a view of a parking with a lot of cars (200-300). There is no park! Changed after 2 days though.
2.The balcony was french, there was nothing for the drying at all, I had to get out (see picture)
3. The cleaning ladies are unfriendly, one of them began to be indignant when I asked to come in 10 minutes later. "It's so uncomfortable for her"... I've met such a thing for the first time in my life.
4. The biggest negative was caused by the dining room.
The food is absolutely monotonous, the breakfasts are exactly the same. Nothing good for my taste. Chemical drinks...
From the most important thing. With the beginning of dinner, there are such crowds in the dining room that it is simply scary.
Is it really hard to put a hot, cold food, snacks and desserts in different places so that 200 people don't accumulate in one place during the coronavirus pandemic?
If you come to the end of your breakfast or dinner, there is a lot you won't see. Everything normal is snapped up immediately. What's over is over. Your problems.
The biggest shock was when the canteen staff lined up along with the guests to take a food!
Question to the management - do you think this is normal?
I have not seen this in any country of the world.
Personally queued for food in line after the waiters!
I was also amazed when at 9.45 I was waiting for a grilled ham, the chef grabbed everything that was fried into 1 plate and retired to the back room, leaving me to stand with empty plate...
I am very glad that the waiters and chefs of the hotel eat well and can allow themself to eat during their working hours, but maybe it'd be better to wait for the guests to leave?
5. Also corridors A, B contain more than 20 rooms close and opposite each other, very noisy and crowded in the morning

Excellent hotel very clean and in a very good location. The room we had was at the back of the hotel with metal shutters and a very small balcony the room itself was spacious enough for two people and had a decent bathroom. The sea is just a short walk from the hotel easy access to Porec 20 minute walk or go on the little train. (Bad points about this hotel) the food is very bland and repetitive and mostly German, staff don't really understand English or choose not to and not very friendly. This hotel is very geared up for Germans
There's lots of arrogance from them which makes it very uncomfortable. Porec is a very beautiful place with lots of bars and restaurants and is unbelievably laid back and relaxed. We went on the Venice trip booked through Tiu found it to be a very rushed experience but nice but wouldn't do it again.

I returned to this hotel after the positive experience at the beginning of the summer.
Hotel in a convenient location for visiting Porec with a walk along the seafront (20 minute walk) or the nearby Zelena Laguna (30 minute walk).
It is possible to use the train that connects Porec with Zelena Laguna which runs every 1/2 hour and stops right in front of the hotel.
Croatia from 1 January 2023 Croatia adopted the Euro and entered the Schengen area (fast travel without stops at the border)
The hotel is clean and the room is comfortable.
The reception staff was decidedly more courteous and helpful than the previous visit, check in courteous and helpful and check out equally with information on the quality of the stay/room.
Very welcoming, quiet, air-conditioned room that allowed you to set your own temperature; welcoming bathroom with a large and comfortable shower; large terrace,
Three well-kept and clean swimming pools with sea water (a little cold), good availability of sunbeds and umbrellas which in mid-September were almost never crowded.
Very large restaurant room, buffet breakfast and dinner with good and varied food for every taste, drinks (wine, beer and soft drinks) are included.
Paid internal parking (€1/night).
Usual negative note: the hotel has some architectural barriers that limit people with disabilities, steps at the entrance to access the lifts, restaurant and common areas (bar, swimming pool).
Anyway, excellent experience

This hotel is in an amazing position, pool areas very good, a 15/20 minute walk into Porec which is very beautiful and the walk is very pretty if you don’t want to walk there is the tourist train, which is cheaper if you get at the back of the hotel instead of the front 😃 how ever nice the hotel is it is not really for the English, it is mostly a hotel for Germans and very very rude ones at that !!! Most of reception struggle with English including the manager, it is German entertainment on a night time a couple of singers !!! Same every night , let’s get to the food .. I really struggled , don’t get me wrong lots of it but catered for Europeans mostly German very poor, what was left from the night before returned for breakfast !! How ever the wine and lager was included in the night meal .. towels where changed everyday and the hotel is very clean had a small room with no balcony over looking the front car park you have to pay another 8 euro a day for a balcony .. Porec itself is probably the cleanest place I have visited and some stunning places to visit .. especially Revinj on a boat trip, if I went back to Croatia would probably go more Dubrovnik area …
