Sitting right above a Blue Flag beach, Hotel Plavi was partially renovated in 2016 when the new, light and airy dining and reception area were created. As a bike hotel, it offers plenty of additional services to the cycling enthusiasts, starting with the repair stations and bike maintenance facilities, all the way to special packed lunches prepared for the long distance cyclist in mind. Rooms are snug and well kept, with comfortable beds. Most have balconies that offer nice views of the surrounding area and the islands in the distance. Sunsets are amazing, bathing your room in orange gold. The pool area is intimate, with loungers around the pool, but Hotel Plavi being part of the Zelena Resort means you can take your pick of the other hotel pools in the area. Plenty of bars and restaurants along the coastline provide ample entertainment in the evening, but if you've spent your day outdoors you just might choose to stay in and relax.

Just come back from Poreč. The hotel is ok, owerall clean, very nice stuff. Just they didn't make beds last three days and didn't change dirty towels. Since we like open sea more we went swimming to the beach of hotel Delfin every day.

excellent wants. We arrived without a reservation and the friendly receptionist arranged everything for us so that we had a nice room with a view of the pool. The buffet food is very varied and good. The cleanliness of the hotel is good. The bathroom is very small but useful.

Prime example that a picture can lie a thousand words..
Hotel from outside is looking alright, of course it’s a old building, but it holds up okay. At the lobby we were a bit surprised that the reseption took our passports and they were just in a open locker behind them… (if anybody wants to make an ID scam and steal someones identity, thats the place to rob some passports…) they gave them back when we signed out. The whole hotel gives a bit too much negative ”eastern europe vibe” if you know what I mean.. Staff never smiled and they seemed to be in a bad mood.
About the room, they were SMALL, after we opened our suitcase to the floor (cause there were no other place to it) the room was full. Bathroom was also small, as well as the shower. Room was very out-dated, no renovations had been done and you could hear everyhing what was happening outside the room, no noice-cancelling at all. Breakfast wasn’t so great either, also no gluten free food but rice cakes...
I used one of the upstair lobby’s bathroom and it was very filthy!! 2 of the 4 toilets were clogged with feces and paper still on there.. and the one ”clean” i used had the most disgusting toilet cleaner brush I have ever seen.. Only pros that I have to say about the hotel is that it is located extremely well. The lagoon outside is stunningly beautiful, water is crystal clear, there is clean and showers everywhere outside as well as chairs to take sun. But still, I will not be staying here again.

A wonderful place with very nice food and a clean room.
The hotel is modern and beautiful.

The blue sea is very close, so you can swim both in the sea and in the pool.
Friendly staff at the reception, always ready to help.
I recommend it to everyone.

Terrible hotel wouldn't recommend.
The price listed is not the price you'll pay.
The facility is worse than many youth hostels. Rooms are so small and bigger people can't use bathroom. Smell in the hotel is terrible!!!!...so many youth sport groups and it all smell like dirty socks.
There is no warm cover for bad so I slept in my jacket. And electrical sockets..Well there is one in the room unfortunately it wasn't functioning.
In addition is a bloody labirint there, it took me few minutes to get to my room and of course lift is a luxury of the main building.

We stayed here from 16-24 May , First of all the Parking lot is 50 ft from hotel Intrance with your suitcases. There is no Elevator (Lift) room was on the 3d floor would not recommend for anyone over the age of 60, there are a lot of stairs. The Receptionist were very friendly also the Lady in charge of the Cafeteria went out of her way to please you. The food was the worst I ever had in a Hotel very bad, over cooked vegetables no seasoning on nothing. A insult to Croatian cooking. Our room was very tiny also the bathroom which the light never worked right, The Balcony, standing room only. The view from the Balcony was the tin roof from the stores below. The maid service never vacumed or took the trash out of the bathroom also never gave the right amount of towels for 3 people. We had to contact our Tour Agency over the bad service, which he tried to solve the problems of this sorry Hotel. Every time you didnt get something like a towel or toilet paper you were labled as a complainer, This is a bad deal if you pay for something that you are titled to receive and you dont get it you are a complainer. This Hotel will never see us again. Also would like to note the Maid stole my wifes brand new magazine which she just bought the day before Receptionist told us she didnt do it and that was that what a shame, shame for this poor Hotel. The Guest is always wrong no matter what. If you choose this Hotel good luck. For the price it was too much for the bad service..

When I was planning our holiday earlier in the year, Hotel Plavi had a few bad reviews on the English language Tripadvisor in 2012 and 2013 and nothing since then. By contrast, on German Tripadvisor there was a steady stream of mostly positive reviews right up to the present. The consensus seems to be that this hotel is a bargain for what it offers.
I fully agree with this. For us - a family with two teenage girls - it was a great choice. It is on the waterfront, which is not really a beach, but a rocky, pebbly cove. The water is blue flag rated and is crystal clear, with no waves or tides. The souvenir shops sell cheap rubber shoes, which solve the pain of walking on pebbles. The rocks have been made user friendly with stone platforms to accommodate sun loungers and steps to get into the water. They are shaded by trees, which combined with a steady breeze made air temperatures in the high 30ies bearable, even pleasant. The water temperature is perfect and lots of people went swimming, making it look more like a lido. Equipped with goggles, our younger daughter positively bubbled over with delight at spotting shoals of tiny fish, a hermit crab, oysters and other sea life.
Back to the hotel, the rooms are air-conditioned, so the heat was not a problem for sleeping. The bathrooms are tiny, but modern and functional. Everything was clean, as you'd expect. The beds were fine. We booked rooms with sea view, which I'd recommend. Unusually, the hotel does not have lifts, so is not suited to the mobility impaired.
The food was interesting, reflecting a meeting of mediterranean and Northern European cuisines. So lots of salads, fish, pasta and pizza, but also sausages, meat, potatoes and boiled veg. In our family of a calorie conscious mother, vegetarian father and two ravenous but fussy teenagers, everyone ended up eating lots (to put it politely). Beer and wine are available on tap, as well as soft drinks. The breakfast was fantastic, with all the usual offerings for continental and fried breakfast, as well as delicious little cakes and biscuits.
The hotel is decorated throughout in baby blue, which has a 1980ies feel to it, except that it looks new. However, the dining room and foyer on the first floor are dominated by the stunning view from the wall-to-wall windows. The foyer has lots of comfy sofas and armchairs and free wi-fi, which made it popular with kids and adults alike.
The hotel is part of a resort, which has fantastic tennis courts - about a dozen clay courts and two with a green surface. We played once, at 9pm in the evening, and even at that time it was hot. There are lots of other sports and leisure facilities - a bank of table tennis tables, a basket ball court, two nets for beach volley ball and bicycles for rent. At another, cooler time of year, we would have probably have used most of them. As it was, we went jogging in the mornings, when it was still relatively cool. It helped that the promenade that follows the cost is shaded by trees. We also rented a pedalo most days. It was of the type that has a slide and the girls really enjoyed messing around on it.
There are lots of interesting things to see in the vicinity - quaint towns, roman ruins, caves, national parks. We had hired a car, both to get us from Pula airport to the hotel and to make some excursions.
We went on a one-day boat trip around the coast to the picturesque town of Rovinj. There are lots of boats which pick up passengers just a few hundred yards from the hotel. Bookings can be made either from guys who walk around the beach, or from a little shop in the hotel.
Sitting on the boat was lovely, but trudging round a town in the baking sun not all that enjoyable. After that we decided against further excursions. So the car was a bit of a waste - we'd have been better off just getting just a transfer to the hotel.
Final bits of info - the hotel has a cash machine and there is a mini market in the resort, which is good for drinks, snacks, sun tan lotion, souvenirs etc. There is also an 'English pub' in front of the hotel, which is open all day for coffee, beer and ice creams and in the evening is packed with people watching football. The nearest town is Porec, also a charming little place. It is 5km / 3miles away and can be reached in a number of ways, i.e. by boat or bike or by a charming little train, which costs 20Kuna (£2) each way and goes every 35 minutes until late in the evening.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights and loved it. The breakfast and dinner was diverse to eat at the hotel. The surrounding area was lovely to walk around and explore. Lastly, we liked the nearby pub to get some drinks in the late hours.

The only negatives is the wifi is not free and you can only get a good wifi connection in the lobby. Don't expect to have a great TV in your room. The pool was closed during our stay.

We stayed at the Hotel Plavi for 5 nights. We got an excellent deal for half board and it was well worth the price we paid. The hotel is on a complex of hotels, water sports etc built around a lagoon and is in a very pretty area. Our room was very small but how much time do you spend in a room ? There was a small balcony with two chairs but no space for a table. The bathroom was tiny but very clean and towels changed every day. We were the only English people staying there, the majority were either Russian or German so , obviously, this was reflected in the food. Both breakfast and dinner had plenty to choose from but if you are expecting English food then this isn't the place for you. The food was always fresh and topped up regularly and we couldn't find any fault with it. There was no queuing and no pushing and shoving ! There is no free wi-fi in the hotel but if you go next door to the pub it is available there. The staff were great, very pleasant and helpful and all spoke good English . You can get the boat from the hotel to Porec from the hotel , or you can get the little train. There was entertainment in the hotel cocktail bar on Saturday night with lots of Croatians coming in and doing their traditional dances and having a great time,
There are lots of comfortable areas to sit around the hotel, the lounge, around the pool and on the terrace , all very pleasant. The only problem we could find , which didn't affect us but would bother some guests, is that the hotel is only partially served by a lift. There is plenty of space so I can't understand why they don't install a lift in the place where it is needed. All in all, we had a wonderful time there and would hope to go back and stay longer as there is such a lot to see and do in the area. We went to Porec, Pula and Rovinj but there were a lot more places that we would have loved to visit as it is a stunning area.
