What a wonderful place to stay in Poreč! The staff totally made the hotel feel like home for our 3 night honeymoon stay. So thoughtful, helpful and kind. The 10 minute drive to the idyllic private beach and pool area was no problem at all, and we took paddleboards which we worried would be a burden and a hassle but were no trouble at all. Our room was spacious and the breakfast was delicious, especially as you could eat and be served coffee out on the open air terrace. We loved our stay, thank you so much!

Wonderful spot right on the water on a private street, ~ quiet. Close to everything. Rooms clean and neat, house keeping does a wonderful job. Ivan and Stejpan are very knowledgeable and genuinely helpful. Breakfast was classic European- fresh meats, bread, fruits, cheeses, etc. Would consider staying here again. As aforementioned, location is on a private street and access is gated. Call a few minutes before driving to the gate with a heads for the staff so they recognize your car to let you in promptly.

We stayed here with our friends and had the two adjoining balcony rooms at the front, which proved to be a great decision as we affectively had a balcony the full width of the Hotel. The rooms themselves were very acceptable, even though we had a small problem with a broken flush which the hotel handled well. The breakfast was very good and they catered for my wife’s Gluten free diet. The front of house guys were great, with Ivan being particularly helpful. The hotel is situated right on the front with great access to the old town. We didn’t notice any problems with noise and the air con worked very well. There is no Pool at the Hotel, but there is free use of a private beach resort just along the coast with a free shuttle bus bookable from reception. Once there, the use of the Loungers and Parasols are free. Transport back is arranged by the resort front desk - the journey takes about 10 mins and can be walked in about 40 - a pleasant walk along the coast, passing lots of other beaches and bars. The other beach we used was the St Nikolai Island resort - a short ferry trip ( about £5) return, and once there the choice of a number of beaches is yours, again free parasols and loungers if you take the towels from the Mauro that show you are part of the same group as the resort. Things we liked about Porec- the restaurants ( Aba, Sarajevo, Nono for Pizza) Bars- Torre Rotunda, Lapidorium for live music, wine corner. Boat trips to Rovinj and Venice. So I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, a great find.

We stayed at the Boutique Hotel Mauro 1st of November. However the staff are very courteous and helpful, and the location is great; i share these comments for the hotel direction as a former hotel manager of a Small Luxury Hotel: - The breakfast is just perfect - Room sizes are OK - Furnishing and bathroom amenities are good quality. But: - The heating/cooling system needs to be replaced with a self-managed AC so guests can set the temperature as they prefer. Especially during season changes from winter to summer and from summer to autumn, it’s a big problem. For our case, it was doing 28 degrees constantly in the room. So we switched off the AC heating and the bathroom heating and slept with open windows, and sure get disturbed by mosquitoes! It was a horrible night... - There’s no complimentary bottled water placed in the room. This is a very basic thing even for a 3 star hotel anywhere in the world, but we have told that we must take it from the minibar. Anyway, Ivan at the front office was so kind to offer us, so we didn’t get charged for it. But i would like to inform the hotel management as they pretend to be a good quality boutique hotel, and for this level of service complimentary bottle of water is a basic standard! - The last think that i was surprised was about the “front office fee” that i saw in my invoice during my checkout. Sure i understand city taxes, or any kind of additional charges or services but “Front Office Fee” is just an invention that i have discovered in that hotel very first time in my life. Which i find obsolete. I have traveled in more than 40 countries from best luxury hotels to basic small hotels; and i am doing hotel management since more than 10 years. They should immediately include this sensless and absurd “Front Office Fee” into the guestroom price, which will appear more cleverly...

Staying in Porec was a last minute decision after Pula and Rovinj were duds. I had recalled from doing research on Istria, what the best towns were and Porec was on the list. On approach, one must go through a security arm to be able to drive up to the hotel which is along the promenade that goes in front of the hotel, it is not pedestrian only just limited access to cars. Since we were driving, parking was essential and they took our bags and parked our car in a secure location off-site at no charge - great service!! Finding Hotel Mauro was fortuitous and it worked out great! Large bedroom overlooking the bay. Very modern bath with tile and tub, comfortable bed with quality linens and pillows. Breakfast was great - lots of choices with freshly cooked eggs. Porec is the best town along the western coast of Croatia's Istria - handsdown! The price of our overnight stay was one of the best quality for price we had on our 32-day driving trip!
