Maksimilian is situated in the very centre of the old, baroque part of Osijek (,,Tvrda"- The Fortress). A distincive Austo- Hungarian touch of the Art Nouveau style, individual approach and modern facilities at reasonable prices, make us ideal accommodation for short business trips, family visits, weekend breaks... As the present owners, we are giving our best in restoring the house respecting the uniqueness and the tradition of the object itself. We are proud to anounce that our guesthouse is TripAdvisor "TravelersChoice winner" for 2015. Maksimilian is a relaxed, romantic and hopefully inspiring place to stay, miles away from the big hotels with lots of stars. Luckily, our guests are our stars!

Excellent accomodation and breakfast. Very clean and excellent staff. This Huest house has been well maintained and highly recommend you stay here when visiting Osijek. You can walk from old town yo New Town along the river in about 15 min. Our room looked out onto lovely courtyard.

I stayed here as part of an Intrepid Travel group, but I had my own single room. It is an old historic building that has been beautifully restored, very pretty with a lovely garden area where you can sit and have a drink. The location is excellent, and breakfast can be whatever you like, there is a buffet but they will cook anything you want and make any kind of coffee, a very personal service. I highly recommend the Maksimilian.

I loved this place. It’s family run and our hosts were lovely friendly people. Our room was huge and comfortable with heaps of space to spread out and unload our packs. Whilst we faced the road and there is a school opposite, once the kids had headed home for the day it was very quiet (not that it was especially noisy during the day, just kids hanging out as they do). There’s a lovely garden area and a kitchen / bar / library if you want to just hang out that operates on an honesty system. We had a good breakfast with beautifully cooked cheese omelettes by our friendly chef and also good coffee. It is right in the centre of the old town so is a perfect location to base yourself for exploring Osijek.

This is my second stay at the maksimilian. Second stay was as awesome as the first . Even travelling during a pandemic, the hotel is welcoming, and incredibly friendly, a home away from home. Located in the old town, just outside Osijek, hidden behind a wooden door that must have been there for a few hundred years, is an awesome courtyard. As a cyclist, the secure bike storage room was a huge benefit. As someone who enjoys a couple of glasses of wine after a day in the office, the cosy self-serve bar is awesome. Highly recommended.

Fabulous spot in the heart of Osijek. Cosy rooms, welcoming spaces and the best service in town: Jasmina, Vlado and Dora go above and beyond and their knowledge, friendliness and conversation made our stay just perfect. The cherry on the cake is the breakfast. Cooked in front of you and a la carte. Delightful. Can't wait to come back

Maksimilijan is a place that is as pleasant and comfortable as my own house. I've coming here often enough and made such good friends that it feels like my second home. The hosts, Jasmina and Vlado, are very helpful and friendly. However they also let you have your own space and leave you to it. You can just call them, if you need anything. Staff also very professional, extremely helpful, accomodating and friendly. If you had, for example, a frustrating day, instead a calling upon kickboxing session, there is Goca with her amazing sense of humor, to cheer you up, She can put a smile on one's scrunched face. Or just go to the beautiful wine cellar, with excellent wine and craft beer choices, and have a glass or two... Maksimilijan is excellent in every way. Wonderful Guesthouse in great location - right in the middle of most attractions which are within walking distance. It is perfectly chic, rooms are comfortable, equipped with essentials and sparkling clean. They served wonderful breakfast (don't miss Goca's famous fried eggs!). And, most important, there is free coffee and tea in the dinning room all day (isn't a joke!). You will loved this place, its charming character inside and out with a beautiful garden and nice patio with table and chairs under grapes tree. Highly recommend. The following is a copy of an email I sent to owner managers of Maksimilian: Dear Jasmina and family, I was at your residence with Ivan's Intrepid tour group June 24-25 and hope it's not too late to express my appreciation of a wonderful travel experience. Your guest house is like being with family, I loved it as I know the other group members did too. I also very much loved your town thanks to the outstanding introductory tour from the gorgeous Matej. I learned so much in the few hours he walked us through Osijek, he struck a perfect balance between historical context and personal stories to give us a deeper understanding of what it was like to grow up in Croatia during the conflict of the 90s. He really set us up for the next 13 days of the tour with a much better grasp of that time in the Balkans. He is wonderful. The tone was set upon our arrival when you and your husband greeted us and shared your grappa which I really enjoyed. Our rooms and the lounge areas at Maksimilian were perfect, clean, spacious, comfortable and so welcoming. As for the breakfast, they are memorable for the variety, generosity and exceptional freshness. My favorite breakfasts ever. Ivan is the best tour leader I've been privileged to be with after probably 15 tours in various parts of the world. He too strikes a perfect balance and everyone loved him. I gave him, Mate and Maksimilian a 5 star review on my Intrepid evaluation. Again many thanks for a fantastically memorable stay. …

Wow this place is just beautiful. Very eclectic with all different rooms. Great courtyard area to relax and have a wine or beer. Hosts are fantastic and so accomodating. Location was perfect to walk around the old town or there are bikes if you want to explore. Breakfast was 10/10. Can recommend easily.
