Have to say that the service was great! We had to change out traveling plans for three times though the COVID19 pandemic, but there was no problems with changing our booking schedule. This small family hotel has its charm: spectacular view, cosy rooms, kind staff and great hand made istrian food. We´ll be back.

Motovun itself is stunning but our stay at the hotel Kastel made it a true experience. It is a cosy family hotel with amazing charm. The staff is nice and helpful, their breakfast is yummi as well as their restaurant menu. Their wellness section comes with a splendid, peaceful garden, hidden behind Motovun walls, where you can relax and chill in hammocks. Don't miss on selection of their heavenly massages. We truly loved our stay there, not only because of the setting but mainly because of the hotel's charm and lovely atmosphere.

A peaceful and quiet place, soft carpets, big chandeliers and smell of past times in the hallways. Well-sized rooms, nice king bed, with extra sofa and a dining table, elegantly furnished... nothing left out and no thing too many. We had a wonderful wellness weekend at spa, four hours only for us. Service was excellent, everyone was kind and helpful. It’s a small, family-run hotel, so personnel have multiple tasks to handle. We were picked-up at parking and left at the front door, despite steep and narrow street. Do not expect a reserved parking lot in the Motovun Old town, especially near the Kaštel hotel. Not even inhabitants do. Food was excellent. We dined outside with a spectacular view to the surrounding green hills. There's a newly installed elevator (in an old building) with a glass wall and amazing view to the hills.

It's a beautiful hotel and a beautiful location, but I'm disappointed with the service. Parking is away from the hotel and although we asked, they did not offer us a transfer of things to the hotel. When booking, they did not mention that only one dinner sequence was pre-prepared and there is no other choice and the food was very bad. We got a coupon for welcome drink and cake, but they charged us for coffee because it looks like Nescafe isn't coffee. We announced that we are coming with a maltese dog because they have to prepare a room in advance and charge 13€ per day for the dog and that's probably why they put the oldest and torn carpets on the floor. According to the reservation, we were supposed to be greeted with a surprise in the room, but in four days we couldn't find it :). This is the first hotel in general that doesn't have a minibar in the room.

Motovun is a wonderful little mountain town in the gorgeous Istria province of Croatia. Only local vehicles are allowed on the roads in the actual town. The roads are steep and old cobblestone. It's a very quaint little town. The Hotel Kastel is way up at the top. You call for their 4 wheel drive truck to come pick you up from the bottom of the town. The hotel itself is very nice with nice rooms, a great breakfast and fantastic views. The staff was OK.
