I can't praise this wonderful hotel enough. This was our 40th wedding anniversary gift to ourselves. We were made to feel so welcome and friends with many of the staff in such a short period of time. Everything was just fantastic from the location, the hotel rooms and amenities to the beach literally 40 meters from the front of the hotel across a promenade that runs from Makarska harbour some 2 km out along the front of the shoreline. I booked with Jet2 as a package holiday for 9 nights and I must say that the experience was almost perfect. Great flight times including the coach transfer from Split airport to the hotel approximately 1 1/2 hours. For a 1st time visit to Croatia I wish I had discovered this incredibly beautiful country years ago. The Dalmatian Riviera is a name well deserved and I intend to return next year for 2-3 weeks. I hit the jackpot when i booked this holiday package.

No wonder this hotel has consistently excellent reviews. This is a very well run family run hotel . Exceptionally clean with friendly and efficient staff. Set in a quiet location on the main promenade within easy access to the "lively" part (restaurants and bars not clubbing). Breakfast was good and the room I was allocated 207 was modern and spacious with excellent views. The beach and sea within yards of the hotel.

Just back from 10 days staying at the lovely Hotel Maritimo in Makarska. Rooms are spotless, staff friendly and very helpful, special shout out for Ana and Ivanna, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent, great selection of savoury and sweet choices. We enjoyed being able to sit overlooking the beach. Makarska was a very lively resort but so handy for all shop, restaurants and trips we booked, all pickups were on our doorstep. The e tuk tuk Skywalk tour and Krka Waterfalls should not be missed and we enjoyed island hopping to Korcula, Brac and Hvar.

With less than 2 weeks to go the hotel sent me a message to say we couldn’t have the room I booked back in August 2022 because apparently they’ve been booked since June 2022 and always overbook rooms! We were offered another room and we could move after 2 days but that’s not what we wanted or what we’d booked so I cancelled. Found a lovely hotel at half the price of the Maritimo with a lovely sea view. I’m staggered Booking.com would allow you to book the room if it wasn’t available. I will not be going to this hotel in the future.

As we wrote to you many times we are sorry we couldn't offer to you room which you originally booked and offered you to stay in room with mountain view instead of sea view room. We have offered to you other benefits to show you that we really care and that situations like this are very rare in our hotel. Everyone who works makes mistakes and we are very sorry this mistake had to happen to you. We are also sorry you didn't accept what we had to offer as well as we have offered to help you find other accommodation in the area. Regarding your comment that we always overbook rooms, we are really not sure how you came to that conclusion and we are sorry you wrote that in your review. That is really not true and we have emphasized situations like this are so rare in our hotel since the day we opened. We are all only humans and mistake can happen to anyone who works. We have offered you many benefits and help to find the other best solution so it is really unfair that you write that we always overbook rooms. The surroundings are beautiful and worthy of a five star hotel, but it isn't. The staff gave difficulty with simple social greetings and come across as very brusque. The only person who was friendly was Ena. The hotel receptionist only spoke to welcome us on arrival and to bid us farewell. Beyond that nothing. Food was nothing to write home about. It was mainly sweet cakes and other diabetes inducing fodder. On one more I found s mouldy orange. The water served from a cooler was also tainted with something that turned it cloudy. This was changed by one of the brusque staff. The room was OK Overall, Croatia is a beautiful country, but the people are rude, ignorant and surly. They need a few lessons in etiquette and people skills.
PS. They allow smoking in dining areas!

As for the rest of your review we are very sorry you feel this way but from every other review on each our booking channel you can see you are the only one that feels this way about our hotel. We are very sorry you had complaints about our staff but we guarantee that everyone working in our hotel is doing their best in relation to each guest, we are a small hotel and we offer individual approach to each guest which is very clear from all other reviews related to our hotel. We have guests who come back each year more than once and most of our guests become like friends to us and we keep in touch entire year. We are very sorry you felt like our staff didn't care for you but we guanrantee you were greeted with at least "Good morning, did you sleep well" each day. There wasn't a guest in our hotel who was spoken to only on welcome and to bid them a farewell. We feel it is very insulting and unnecessary that you call people in Croatia ignorant and surly which is just the opposite in reality. You may be unsatified with your stay in Croatia but those are insulting words and should not be used on this level. We were also surprised to read you didn't like our breakfast buffet which is one more thing that we are really proud of and we get only high grades and compliments for it. We offer a big variety of sweet and salty food, from many different cakes and sweets to different cheese and salami types, different pies and other pastry. As well you can order all types of eggs to our waiters which are prepared fresh for each our guest and served directly to your table each day. Also, smoking is allowed everywhere in the outside in Croatia. However, we wish you all the best and you will always be welcome to our hotel in the future!!

A lovely small hotel with good attention to customer service. A special mention for Ana and Ivana on reception, they were so helpful with advice and help when booking trips. I’m a coeliac so have to follow a strict gluten free diet, the restaurant staff provided me with a selection of gluten free products, as the buffet is predominantly pastries, cakes and breads which I can’t eat. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean and the rooms are bright and airy with most having a sea view and balcony. The hotel is within easy reach of a good selection of restaurants and bars. We normally choose 4 and 5 star hotels but were attracted to this hotel by the rave reviews and we were not disappointed. We had a very enjoyable stay and can highly recommend the hotel

We had a lovely stay at this family run hotel situated right on the sea front. The staff were so freindly and helped us out with anything we needed. We felt very well taken care of and able to rest. The beds I must say were very comfortable and our room had a lovely view over the sea. Right infront of the hotel there are massage and watersports to enjoy. You can sit and watch the sunset whilst having a drink/coffee. There is a nice outdoor sofa area to chill in the afternoon when it gets really hot during the day. You can get up and have an early morning swim before breakfast. I must say this hotel met all our needs and we had a great holiday. Thank you to all the staff.

My only complaint about our stay is that we booked and paid for a sea view room but didn't get one. The room 206 didn't have a sea view because of the trees in front of it which completely blocked the view.
The view was one of the most important criterias for us so we really felt cheated by the hotel. When I told the reception about this at the start of our stay they didn't react in any way. Would stay again but not in a sea view room.

Small family run hotel where nothing is too much trouble for the wonderful staff. The hotel ideally situated almost on the beach. There is a lovely coastal walkway to the main town and harbour where there are plenty of bars and restaurants along the way. The hotel itself is exceptionally clean and well maintained. The food is wonderful and plentiful and I will guarantee you will return home a few pounds heavier. All the rooms are lovely but I would recommend booking a sea view room. Once again I cannot praise the wonderful staff enough!! If you’re looking for a relaxing holiday this is the place to go!

Lovely clean rooms, friendly and welcoming staff, the food was amazing, definitely believe much better than a 3 star hotel, deserves to be more. We asked for a birthday cake for our sister and the owner of the hotel went out of her way to find a recipe for an English birthday cake and made this herself. ❤️ perfect central base for visiting other areas. There are steps and a lift to each floor. The dining tables are very well spaced out so I don't think you would have any problem. The bedroom we had was a junior suite which had plenty of room. I would suggest you contact the hotel to get width of bathroom as it is a long narrowish room with shower at far end. Otherwise the hotel is perfect. Hope you get sorted out.
