Detailed Reviews
Family owned place. Really friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable, clean, the owners are always around with all the informations or just for a quick check, how we all doing. It’s our third time here, but we’ll return back for sure! Super 5star!

This place is very clean, up to date, and I would recommend staying here! I stayed at these apartment 2 different times and was satisfied each time. Another perk is that there is a small supermarket downstairs which makes it very convenient to buy food. We absolutely loved this place. I would stay here again.

Stayed one night in Makarska en route from split to Dubrovnik. Great location, easy to find from highway and parking was on-site. Located above a decent grocery store and close to Lidl if you want to buy more. Apartment was very big and well appointed, great to cook a quick meal and set off into town. Great view from the balcony although unfortunately they are building something next door so there was lots of noise. Didn't bother us though. about a 15-min walk straight down the road into the old town center. Super friendly host which was a delight!
Great price and a pleasant stay.

Holiday started off great and just got better and better
Maja arranged for an airport transfer to the apartments which I'd recommend if you're arriving at night - saves hanging around at bus stations. On arrival at the apartments we checked in very quickly and since it was late at night, settled our bill the next day. We were shown to our apartment (room 201) and its certainly superseded our expectations
Lovely big bathroom with heated towel rail, hairdryer and powerful mixed shower and lovely soft towels.
Nice bedroom with doors that opened onto the massive L shaped balcony. Bed was tremendously comfortable and big! High spec furniture including dressing table, wardrobe and drawers. Air con in the bedroom too
Open plan living and kitchen area - big sofa with coffee table, sideboard and TV and a dining table - spare wardrobe tucked away behind the dining table if required.
Kitchen area consisted of dishwasher, coffee machine, kettle, 2 ring electric hob, toaster - everything you need really as well as plenty crockery and cutlery for 2 people. Air con unit in this open plan area too with double doors opening onto the balcony.
Balcony was big with great double views out to the sea and to the Biokovo Mountain range behind. We saw amazing lightning storms during our holiday from the comfort and safety of here.
The cleaners were in in everyday and very friendly, cleaning the floors and emptying bins daily and the towels every other day. The bedding got changed once/week.
The owners, Maja and Visa(?) were very hospitable and helpful and could always be found in the little office on the ground floor if you needed anything.
The apartments are pretty much 10 mins max to the beach - down a little alley directly across the road from the apartments. Walk along to the right when you hit the promenade to get to some quieter coves away from the crowds. Walking into the old town takes around 15 mins by walking down the main road in front of the apartments taking you directly to the Kalalarga which is the older street in Markaska with a great Konoba eating place situated at the top of the road.
Makarska itself is a great beach resort with lovely Mediterranean food, great domestic beer and wine and ice cream parlours coming from all directions :) Plenty walks and look out points at the pennisulas as well as lovely hidden coves, sprinkled with numerous nudist beaches, so watch out! :)
Can't recommend the Agava Apartments or Makarska enough.

We liked virtually everything. The owner and director of the Apartments Agava, Maja Begic, is a charming young lady, very intelligent, articulate, and efficient, always ready to help with all kinds of our requests. She demonstrated true Croatian hospitality and positive attitude - always. The same applies to her cousin, Nikolina, who met us on arrival. In fact, we were happy with everyone we met from the Apartments staff/Begic family.
The premises are new, modern in all respects, very good material used all over the place, and good finish as well. Furniture and bedding are simply excellent and rather better than in some 4 star hotels. We occupied studio - roomy and well equipped. Electronic keys to enter the Apartments and rooms add to the feeling of security. Importantly, there is a satisfying sense of privacy – quite different from what one might experience in big hotels. The underground garage was of good help – no need to look for parking place in rather busy area. Direct access to the Apartments from the garage is surely a bonus. The pebble beach is in close vicinity... and ask for the Begic family home vine. The red is particularly good! So, we could not resist to take a bottle with us.
The one thing to mention, which some may like and other would obviously dislike. Makarska is a busy resort. To find total quietness and solitude one better go to an island…So, when you leave windows open at night you might be disturbed by some noises… Yet, it applies to the whole place. On the other hand, the windows in Agava Appartments and shutters are state-of-the-art and provide total quietness when closed. Modern air-conditioning has an option for air flow from outside, so if needed you may isolate yourself from the outside world in Agava Appartments.
One extra - it is easy to travel by car to other locations in Croatia from Makarska: both South and North. The Croatia is truly beautiful country with long history and amazing historical sites not to be missed.

The location of this apartament is excelent.
The rooms are well decorated and very confortable.
And they offer a incredible breakfast with an amazing view of the sea.
The unique spot was that we were located on the 3rd floor without a lift.
But, in spite of that, we loved.
Thanks a lot

Don't be fooled by the online photo that makes this fine hotel look like a couple of rooms above a grocery store. It is a three floor, ultra modern, hotel with elevator and spotless underground garage. The suites are large, all appliances are up-to-the-minute modern. Rooms are spacious, and if you're smart pay a bit extra for rooms with ocean facing balconies. The balconies are huge -- spanning living room and bedroom -- and delightful for an evening snack or breakfast. The Agava is steps away from the beachfront -- and Makarska's beach is fantastic to enjoy food, view, water and peaceful quiet away from the cruise ship tourists that flood Dubrovnik, Split and other "name" attraction cities in Croatia.
