Detailed Reviews
This was our best option, it seemed, in Murter as we had a Kornati Islands boat trip planned.
Photos from hotel looked nice…a lovely pine clad bay.NOT so nice to open our balcony curtains to find that the photo had been seriously cropped to cut out the big flume, dawn till dusk disco music blaring from a beach cafe, general amusements for kids, stalls selling flip flops etc, lots of play equipment in the sea.Great for families but not really what we hoped for as a mature couple.
Rampant over development seems to have taken place in what has been a small, pretty cove so it does spoil it and makes it all look and sound a bit brash and tatty.
Anyway…the sea was actually very nice indeed, with a sandy base mostly.
The Pool loungers were commandeered by a handful of guests who left towels on them for hours, nabbing those in the shade then sauntering out about 10am to actually use them. This shouldn’t be allowed.
That said, the pool was nice.
The room was fine, good shower, sadly no fridge or kettle.Definitely a 3 star feel to the quality of the furnishings etc but it was perfectly adequate for our purposes for 2 nights.Pillows could have been softer, mine was very plump and hard and not comfortable.
Good air-con, very quiet.
Buffet breakfast was ok though more cereals/muesli would have been good as there only seemed to be cornflakes and coco pops. The coffee was truly dreadful.
Many thanks to the manager who kindly allowed us an earlier start to breakfast so that we could make our boat trip as it had an early meet up! Very much appreciated this.He was very helpful.
Hotel was very quiet late as night so we got a good sleep though we were there pre the main season when I imagine more families and teenagers arrive.
Murter itself as a village is no great shakes but nearby Betina is super quiet and attractive.

The Hotel is located in possibly the best location in Murter, right at Slanice beach and partially with wonderful views from the balcony - overlooking Croatia's turquoise Ocean and yet... this might just be the hotels biggest problem. The location and view is so strategically good that the owners obviously haven't felt the need to refresh or redo parts of the facilities...in decades. This place could be so much more...

It was great, rooms are tidy and clean,
TV and AC ARE great,
Outside pool is a nice asset to the hotel.
Food is solid for breakfast and dinner, but coffee machine should be upgraded :)
Most important part is that the staff is very polite, easygoing and very helpful! :D
All in all, very nice experience!

+1
Excellent location near a beautiful beach. The rooms are clean and tidy, the beds are very comfortable to sleep on.
Resort is pet friendly.
Free parking.
The entire staff is very professional, friendly and unobtrusive, and ready to help with anything at any time.
A large selection of food at breakfast.
In short, the price-quality ratio is exceptional!

We chose this hotel mainly due to close location to the ones of the nicer beach Slanica Bay on Murter Island. Also we did not want to be disturbed loud music and discos around, so Hotel Colentum was a right place for this.
Hotel is very close to the Slanica Beach with sand and small stones. As the beach is in the cove there are not waves and it's ideal for small child like we have. Entry into the sea is slow and after 10 meters height of water is still knee-deep so You can play a water games here.
Back to the hotel. Fact is that it's old but clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. What I personally appreciate is that whole staff is local, no seasons worker from foreign countries and You can enjoy really local atmosphere.
We had a very small room, 21 square meters with three beds and there were no more space around, but for the sleeping was OK. All rooms have air conditioning and we really appreciated this as we was there when outside was 38 degrees in the shadow. Each room have a balcony but only with one chair, maybe only in our case.
On small TV You are able to watch only 3 to 4 channels, but You are here to enjoy sun and beach and not to watch a TV. You can do this at home :)
All guests have all inclusive package and I was very surprise with all inclusive offered by this Hotel. Basically I did not expected nothing extraordinary, because of 3 star hotel, but food was very taste. Even ice cream as a snack on afternoon what is rare for 3 stars hotel from my experience.
In the all inclusive package are also included drinks, beer (Lasko Pivo), white and red wine (do not expect too big quality :) ) and one sort of alcohol, Local Rakija Travarica. That's all from alcoholic drinks. From Non alcoholic You can choose water, caffe, juice, cola etc.
Near the hotels are 2 water slides for fee. 4 Kuna one ride.
I personally recommend a bech bar Morski Rat, very nice, with good food and perfect coffe.
Also You can rent a bike in the hotel and enjoy bike trip around the murter island with lot of nice beach around. We stayed only in Slanica bay because of small child and sand, but I recommend to travel around.
From the hotel is footpath to Murter city, around 20 minutes. City is very old and very nice like all croation cities. I recommend a winery and oil store Babitch in the old city. It's very traditional and You can bought a local forgoten sort of wine here. Owner would like to bring old traditions back to the roots. There is possibility to buy a wine made by old procedures and not the modern wine which I call "parfumes".
In Summary Hotel Colentum is good choice if You are not expecting too much and You are on the vacation because of sun and sea.
We did not use a lot of sun and beach, because our daughter got a fever and angina, but I can confirm that Croatia Doctors were very professional and they recover her during 4 days. But this is not a fails of hotel, but those things may happen. I recommend to have an European insurance card from your local Health Insurance Company as our commerce insurance was not accepted in the hospital and local doctors so we had to pay everything by cash.

Hotel Colentum is the only hotel in the village of Murter, on Murter island, in Croatia.
The island of Murter is connected to the mainland by a bridge, and is just 13 kms from the main Adriatic highway that connects the northern part of the country to the coast.
Hotel Colentum is situated on Murter's main beach, the sandy cove of 'Slanica'. Murter is an excellent starting point from which to explore the Kornati Islands National Park, and various forms of private boat transport can be arranged to hire by locals to the National Park. There is also the 'Hramina' , Murter's modern and well equipped marina, with 400 berths, where skippers and other sea transport is readily available. The Kornati Islands National Park is an unrivalled boating paradise.

I've been in this hotel several times and I think it is a very good option and value for money. It is a 3 star so don't expect more than that but you have an option all-inclusive with the food being always served as buffet which is very nice. It is two steps away from the beach and it can get very crowded during high season. Off the peak season is just a little paradise. The rooms are not big but they have the essentials (including a small fridge). It's comfortable and the staff is friendly.

We had the overall impression that the management of this Hotel had lost it's desire to provide even a facsimile of adequate service. The room was somewhat dated and the TV positively antique.
Whoever fancies breakfast with stone-hard, half-frozen eggs, one choice of cheapest bologna, stale cereal, soda instead of orange juice, and bread arranged and laid out barehanded by the personnel, has come to the right place.
Standing directly in front of the room door were the service carts, making it difficult to move the luggage into the room.
The absolute disaster occurred when we turned out the lights...
The AC was defective so it was necessary to open the windows to refresh the stale humid air in the room. This allowed a swarm of mosquitos to invade the room. I can't remember having had such a miserable night. I slept a total of perhaps 3 hours and ended up with dozens of welts.
Hearing our complaints the management granted a reduction in price of only 5%.
We were able to find infinitely better accommodations for far less cost during our entire stay in Croatia.

We get a last minutes offer to this hotel for a family with two children (8 and 10 years old). When we arrived, the receptionist was surprised that we have two children...!? In the room there was one only one double bed and a camp bed. They tried to put an additional camp bed to the room, but it was only possible the way to push the beds till the walls and in the middle you had only approx. 50 cm to move. When we would not like to accept the room they just said that they are overbooked and can not offer from bigger room. Attention, this is a tricky hotel with reservations and not at all family friendly! Tirvol family
