Let's start with the location. This place is in a lovely position, looking out along its own inlet, with the sea gently lapping a few yards from your room. There are no cars, no loud music, possibly some splashing around but that's about it. There are a few private dwellings to the left and right of the Pensione, all owned by locals. You leave your car 100 yards up the lane in a car park and walk from there. We wanted somewhere peaceful and very close to the sea which describes this place perfectly. It is about 10 minutes from Hvar, where you get a port town, like many to be found around the Med. Whilst there were stalls to buy stuff, there was no hassle, no hawkers and all the stall owners looked local. Booked for two nights. Got there and the owner who is practically mute pointed the way to a fly invested room on the ground floor and left us to it. We asked for cleaning products as it was grubby and was told it wasn't dirt - anyway gave the place a clean and settled in a bit. No one explained what to do for lunch or dinner or where to get anything. Basically you need to be self- sufficent/self catering. No explanation for how the place operated. Managed to get our room changed to one on 1st floor which was much better. The cove is beautiful and the water is amazing - really picturesque. However you are watched from all sides as the place is nestled amongst holiday homes and grumpy people at that and so you feel like you are invading their space. Anyway managed to survive a day and decide to order dinner (need to do in advance) was told chef had burnt fingers so no cooking limited- we were offered grilled squid, spaggetti bolognese!, spaggetti with tomato sauce, and grilled...
