Nestled close to the beach and Cavtat, Remisens Hotel Albatros boasts a location that has garnered appreciation from guests for its scenic walks and convenience to Dubrovnik. However, the hotel's value proposition has come under scrutiny, with criticisms directed at the overpriced offerings and lackluster entertainment.
Although the amenities, such as pools and picturesque surroundings, are generally met with approval, opinions on service and room quality are divided, citing varying degrees of staff friendliness and room upkeep. Travelers seeking serenity may be challenged by the animated evening ambiance, which for some, overshadows the hotel's overall tidiness and charm.

Detailed Reviews
Cavtat is absolutely stunning. We had overall a very lovely family holiday, travelling with our 15 month old daughter. The weather was perfect not too hot but warm enough to get in the sea. The pool at the hotel was freezing cold & we never saw anybody in it the whole 10 days we were there. The room was nice, comfortable bed & bathroom was spacious, great shower. Annoyingly the aircon was switched off in the rooms in the entire hotel (we heard others complaining about it) it would have been nice to have the option. We went all inclusive which I wouldn’t usually do but it was only an extra £100 so I thought we’d probably drink that anyway, I was wrong, the drinks are truly disgusting, very poor options, think there were 2 cocktails, a few spirits, wine & beer. All except the beer tasted nasty, extremely cheap alcohol & knock off soft drinks. Food wasn’t great either so we ate breakfast at the buffet then out for dinner & tea. Overall the staff in the hotel were very rude & unapproachable, for that reason alone not sure we’d go back. Beach was great. Restaurants in cavtat were lovely.

Unexpectedly we found ourselves here due to BA cancelling our South of France trip . Usually we only do adults only hotels but decided to give this one a chance as having been to Croatia a couple of times before , we usually find the clientele quiet and mostly non English . Some of the reviews on here almost made me alter my booking , and I’m so glad I didn’t . The hotel is worthy of its 4 stars , it’s very clean , modern and bright . We had a sea view room in block A. For once we was not disturbed by other rooms or the room above , it has been built properly and the room size is generous . Sadly there was no bath which is our preference . The hotel is situated no distance from the airport which is so convenient, yet airplane noise not a problem , they did come over here and there but they were not a dominating factor . Now for the air con . The rooms air con worked a dream . We have air con in our house so I know how it should work , no issues at all just keep the doors shut and it works . There was air con in the bar area directly by the bar but as the area extends to a large seating area with panoramic views of the pool and sea it gets warm cause of the windows and the air con doesn’t extend that far over , we didn’t find it an issue . For us the only couple of things I’d say is we prefer adults only hotels , we was lucky there wasn’t loads of kids when we went - but there was enough . You couldn’t really read by the pools due to children playing etc . I think cause of previous reviews the hotel had acted on putting music on by the pool , again knit our preference . One day the music was so loud we complained and they actually turned it right down and we never had a problem thereafter - guess they would feel they can’t please everyone . The food was fabulous. My husbands fussy as am I and the lunch and dinners were great , plenty of choice and chefs there making fresh pizza etc . Breakfast for me not as great as I don’t eat sausages and bacon , some tomatoes and mushrooms on offer would have been nice but otherwise all good . The location is great . Just outside on the beachfront there are a few great sunset watching bats and a restaurant and further along you can walk into the town, ideal . Please don’t let the reviews put you off - I didn’t and we had a great time . If it changed to an adults only we would be back for sure .

Stayed here as a large family. The reception staff are lovely, always ready to help. Cleaning staff and restaurant staff very hardworking and pleasant. Cannot understand some of the remarks made, we certainly did not have that experience. The rooms were large, spotless, very well insulated so hardly any neighbour noise, bathroom shower one of the best we have come across. Swimming pools brilliant. Very clean. Food ok not the best, but plentiful and always something to find. Breakfast very good. No queues, plentiful food, tables cleaned immediately. We paid a comparitively small amount for AI, we got that back on the beer, wine and hot drinks which were very good. Childrens entertainers worked vry hard. We would return without a doubt.

I booked this hotel quite a long time ago and I don’t recall seeing lots of poor reviews at the time otherwise I wouldn’t have booked. I wish I’d gone for my other choice Hotel Cavtat as it looked lovely but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
We normally prefer to stay B&B but half board was on offer here. Our intention was to eat out most nights and just have the hotel as a fall back. First night there was no one at the entrance to the restaurant to greet you/take your room number and let you know what’s what. Apparently if you’re half board you’re only allowed to help yourself to water not any of the cheap soda stream like drinks they have although you can have them at breakfast but we discovered this after the fact. The food here is probably the worst I’ve had. Neither of us are fussy eaters, my husband is Italian so I’m used to trying lots of different things but the food here was dire. First night on offer was very salty soup, salads, tasteless beef in gravy, tasteless sliced pork, fish, pizza and mushy cauliflower with hard carrots. Mashed potato the consistency of baby food and weirdly no other potatoes on offer. We only ate in the hotel twice and the second night wasn’t any better.
The rooms were ok, a bit small but clean and very quiet. We had a balcony with a sea view and the view is lovely. The room had a mini fridge and travel kettle, cups with no teaspoons, in fact there were no teaspoons in the restaurant either? They don’t provide tea or coffee, sugar or milk, just two sachets of cinnamon tea.
The location is the best thing about the hotel, right on the beach, boat taxi to Dubrovnik stops opposite the hotel. It’s a 15 minute walk to old Cavtat where there’s lots of bars and restaurants and you can catch the bus to Dubrovnik.
The staff, what can I say about the staff or should I say the people in general? I visited the former Yugoslavia as it was then exactly 40 years ago and found the people sullen, rude and unhelpful and nothing has changed. Customer service just isn’t a thing. I can honestly say we only had good service twice in a restaurant and by that I mean a nice greeting, a smile, helpful whilst we were there.
In short if you want to use the hotel as a base but eat out every night then it’ll do but you may as well book an apartment and there are much nicer places to stay. I’m just thankful we didn’t book all inclusive, as the spa, indoor pool, tennis courts, football pitch, children’s playground were all out of use.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your comment about our hotel on the TA pages. We are happy that you like the location of our hotel, and the comfort and cleanliness of your hotel room. We are sorry that you did not like some parts of our service. The guests can always contact us if they are not satisfied with the service provided in our hotel, and our management team will consider all their remarks and suggestions. Our hotel is a 4-star hotel, and our entire team always strives to provide a high-level service. During their stay at the hotel, the guests can always contact the reception if they have any remarks, requests, or suggestions. We always try to find the best solution for everyone during the guests' stay in the hotel, since this is the only way, we can provide the guests with a quality service and an unforgettable vacation. The heads of all departments in the hotel have many years of experience in tourism and they always strive to transfer their knowledge and skills to each member of their team. All our employees strive to be always kind and professional to the guests. We are very sorry that we did not meet your expectations regarding the offer and choice in the restaurant and bars. We do our best to ensure that all our guests are satisfied with the service provided. As for the meals we offer in our main restaurant, we have seven-day predetermined menus, which have a large selection of food, so we hope that every guest can find something for himself. Our Snack Bar offers the chicken medallions, hamburgers, hot dogs, cheese pies, cakes, fruit, and ice cream. The drinks that we have as part of the all-inclusive service are from the machines, which are located at all points inside the main restaurant, snack bar and aperitif bar. The quality of drinks from the machine meets our standards. Unfortunately, you wrote in your comment that the certain facilities such as the tennis courts, the football field, the children's playground were not in use - this is not true, because these facilities were available to the hotel guests all season long. The indoor pool and spa were not available to the guests, which was communicated to all the partner travel agencies, and the hotel also did not advertise online that it offered an indoor pool and spa. Thank you for choosing our hotel for your vacation. Yours sincerely, Remisens Management team

Where do I start... Croatia is a fantastic country which has stunning beaches, hotels and the people are lovely. I cannot recommend Croatia highly enough. We stayed in 3 other hotels before arriving at the Albatross, the other hotels were all fantastic.
Some positives | The kids club was great fun for our 7 year old daughter, as was the kids disco in the evening. The aerobics around the pool went down really well with the other guests and above all the hotel is in a fantastic location which has incredible sunsets, lots of nice bars and restaurants and is close to the lovely Kavtat harbour area.
However... this hotel is a spectacular failure of design and execution. The management are farcical and clearly haven't got the foggiest idea of how to operate a hotel. They have installed aggressive signs which persistently warn you against breaching their strict rules. The food is appalling "although the flies seemed to love it", the drinks selection is an array of the cheapest tipple that the management could get their hands on. By the third day, I started to buy the local Croatian beer which is not free to all inclusive guests, as I could not stomach any more of the free stuff. The hotel has a sign which claims that there is a beer hall (utter nonsense).
One of our lifts in our wing of the hotel was broken, the main hotel building is roasting hot as there is no A/C "although there are A/C units - they are not switched on", the lighting is terrible as the lobby is dark and dingy, the staff are mostly miserable "some were lovely", the hotel is devoid of character, there was dodgy looking electrical cabling in the kids club, the soft play was closed "as was the Indoor pool", a tree was blocking our view of the incredible Adriatic sea, there were weird Styrofoam birds everywhere 'including in the rooms', the room had a funny smell when we entered "our friends reported the same smell".
The hotel operates very poorly thought out processes. As an example if you wish to use beach towels to use at the pool "which you can fairly assume most guests would like to do so", you collect beach towels from a towel guy who is located around 100M away from reception. But you first need to go to reception to leave a deposit and complete some more paperwork before you can collect your towels. Why not move the towels to reception, or allow the towel guy to take payment. Better still why not just do as most other hotels do and allow the guests to pickup the towels near the pool and use the towels without not trusting them to bring them back?
If this hotel is a 4 star, then I could have beaten Usain Bolt in a 100M final with my hands tied behind my back. Claiming it is a 4 star hotel is absolutely ludicrous, I solute them for their outright cheek in making this bogus claim.
The best part of the hotel was when you get to leave. It's a shame that this disaster of a hotel sits in such as prime location. My advise 'and hope' is that it will one day be knocked down and replaced by a hotel which is befitting of such a great location in a superb country. Avoid at all costs.

I was a bit worried after reading some of the bad reviews and ignoring all the good.
The hotel is well situated on the beach and about a 5 minute walk or a scenic 10 minute stroll to the main area of cavtat with its harbours, bars restaurants and shops.
The hotel was spotlessly clean and all the staff we met were friendly. The reception staff spoke good english, however most of the other staff (cleaners, restaurant staff) spoke little english, although we were generally able to make our needs known.
We had a junior suit on the 4th floor (room 457) which was situated at the front of the hotel and gave a full sea view and our balcony wrapped around the side giving us an inland view too. The room was clean and reasonably modern and we had a comfortable stay with no complaints. As mentioned in other reviews, there is a kettle but no other drink making facilities. We just grabbed some cups from the restaurant and took to our room, simple.
The outside areas were well maintained and the pool looked nice (too cold for me though)! It wasn't very busy whilst we were there but there were plenty of sunbeds.
The food was actually very good. Its an all inclusive buffet and was on par with other countries such as Greece and spain. There was always plenty of variety which was well cooked and tasty. I am not a particularly fussy eater and enjoyed most of what I ate although If its 5* al a carte your after then i suggest you go elsewhere and pay the premium (basically you get what you pay for).
The drinks were not so good. The husband was happy with the local beer. I however (a cocktail drinker) was very disappointed! There was a choice of about 5 cocktails, they were all pretty vile. You could however, pay for a premium cocktail for around £7. Better still, walk down to Cavtat in the evening for a cocktail (between £5 - £8). I'd give the coke and apple juice a miss if I were you, but the other soft drinks were all ok. Oh, and i didn't like the coffee either. I bought some cappuccino sachets from the local shop to drink.
All in all, we had a lovely holiday. Cavtat is absolutely beautiful and we were really pleased with the hotel. We wouldn't hesitate in returning and are already planning our next visit.

Dear Mrs. Nicky, Thank you very much for taking some of your time to write such a good comment and give us a high rating. You have given excellent information about the position of the hotel and thus given our future guests useful information and recommendations. We are especially delighted that you have singled out a few words in your comment to praise our staff. The entire team of Hotel Albatros is constantly striving to be at the service of all hotel guests in the hope that it will provide all guests with an unforgettable vacation. We are pleased that you have noticed the efforts of our chef and his team to find and offer such a selection of dishes, which would be acceptable to all. We are sorry that our selection of drinks as part of the all-inclusive service did not meet your expectations. Thank you for this remark, which we will take into account to improve the service in the restaurant and bars. We are immensely happy that you are so pleased with our hotel and that is why you are thinking of spending your vacation again at the Remisens Albatros Hotel. Ended up at this hotel after tui changed my booking last minute. After reading previous reviews I was wary but thought maybe people were just being fussy. They weren't, this was a very disappointing hotel.
Was dropped off by tui at 11am, met by a rude receptionist who after allowing the family at the front of the queue check in proceeded to tell everyone else there rooms weren't available and to come back at 2 o clock. Returned at 2 to be see another family get their room and then for my family to be told "no check in is 3 but I'll check, go sit down I'll call you in a minute" This didn't happen at 3pm after a phone call to a cleaner my room was finally available. I understand check in times, however the confusion, lack of consistency with other guests and the way this was relayed was my issue, the customer service skills were awful.
Now the only positive was the room was a decent size, the bathroom looked very modern and had a power shower which was a welcome surprise. However there was a large dirty smear on the balcony doors and a hand print on a mirror. The room was also entered most days but only properly serviced once all week.
Now the food, we were booked half board which I'm thankful got as all inclusive would have been a colossal waste of money. The choices for dinner were very poor. The majority of the food was inedible, very salty, cold and looking very unappealing. The pre made salad options all contained mayonnaises and meat and the make your own was literally cucumber and tomato, lack of fruit choices. The only decent option in the evening was pizza but it was always margarita. Breakfast was just as bad, pancakes seemed to be the only option for most people. Although the same utensils were used to flip pancakes and serve people fried eggs.
The staff in the restaurant weren't very friendly, they all came across as miserable.
The only redeeming feature was the location, there was a lovely beach just outside the gates and within ten minutes you were in the town which was gorgeous. There was also water taxi from right outside and the staff at each of these were all extremely helpful and friendly.

Dear Ms Gemma, Thank you for your review. We are happy that you liked the location of our hotel and your hotel room. On the other side, we are sorry that you did not like some parts of our service. As in every hotel, there is an official check-in in our hotel. The official check-in at our hotel is at 3 pm. All the rooms must be completely clean before the guest enters the room. On the certain days of the week, there are a lot of departures and arrivals, i.e. a large shift of guests, which unfortunately sometimes creates the queues for the check-in at the reception. At the reception, we take care of our guests, so we often try to give rooms even before 3 pm to the older guests, the guests with the small children or the guests with certain health problems. The guests who come to the hotel early always have priority for the check-in. In the comment you wrote that you came around 11 o'clock, so we are sure that we had in that moment quite a few guests who came to check-in much earlier than you. At check-in, we always explained to all the guests when it was time to check-in, what are the facilities in the hotel, where the luggage can be left, etc. The guests can always come to the reception and ask before 3 p.m. if their room is ready, and the receptionist will check it out. Such practice is typical for every hotel. With all due respect, if the receptionist could not give you a room before the official check-in, it does not mean that he/she is rude. Our Snack Bar offers the snack offers the chicken medallions, hamburgers, hot dogs, cheese pies, cakes, fruit, and ice cream. The drinks that we have as part of the all-inclusive service are from the machines, which are located at all points inside the main restaurant, snack bar and aperitif bar. The quality of drinks from the machine meets our standards. All our employees in the restaurant really tried to be always professional and kind to the hotel guests. Therefore, we cannot accept your comment that according to you literally every employee in the restaurant was very “unfriendly or miserable”. Thank you for choosing our hotel for your summer vacation. Yours sincerely, Remisens Management team

We were apprehensive about our stay here due to the previous reviews but we needn't have worried.
The staff from check in, bar/restaurant staff, cleaners were all fantastic. They worked really hard, and when we did make conversation with them, they were so polite and friendly. I did witness some other guests being exceptionally rude more than once so I think the staff are almost expecting everyone to be rude based on this.
Our room was really spacious for 4 of us with superb views, very quiet and shower/bathroom spotless.
Breakfast, lunch and the afternoon snack bar were very nice, dinner was typical buffet style and we preferred to dine out in Cavtat at night. The prosecco was lovely!
The pool was perfect in size and there was a great fun aqua aerobics class every morning.
The hotel is right on the beach, with watersports freely available at a reasonable cost.
Cavtat itself is stunning.
There are some negatives, the usual people hogging pool loungers with towels and the pool loungers weren't the most comfortable.
We will be back!

Dear Ms Anne, Thank you very much for taking some of your time to write such an excellent comment about our hotel on the TA pages. We are delighted that you liked the location of our hotel, the comfort of your hotel room, the choice of food and drinks in our restaurant and bars, the outdoor swimming pool area, etc. We are especially happy that you liked our entire staff, of whom we are very proud. Thank you for noticing our effort for each guest. It is extremely important for us to provide our guests with a quality service and an unforgettable holiday. Unfortunately, some guests come early in the morning to put their towels on the sunbeds at the pool and thus reserve a sunbed. Of course, this is not allowed, but the guests still do it. Therefore, we put a notice on the notice board near the pool that all towels placed on unoccupied sunbed can be removed. It would be our great pleasure if you choose again our hotel for your vacation. Yours sincerely, Remisens Management team

+1
We visited the hotel during Half Term (29 May to 5th June).( 3 adults, 2 children, aged 5 and 18 months). We stayed in a Junior Suite and the extra adult had their own double room with sea view- both rooms were adequate, with plenty of space for four of us (in the junior suite).
I can agree with some of the reviews that it did appear that the hotel were still readying itself for the summer season, however it did not affect our experience.
We went all inclusive, which was really helpful with children, the food was fine, plenty of choice for everyone. The beer was alright, the wine and cocktails were not the best, but if you want proper cocktails, there is a beach bar facing the hotel.
We would say the staff were amazing and really helpful, could not fault anyone of them, from the cleaning staff, to the reception, bar staff and kitchen staff. Everyone were welcoming.
The children really enjoyed both pools (with adult supervision of course). The 5 year old attended the kids club and really enjoyed playing connect 4.
The hotel is conveniently placed, a 10 minute walk to Cavtat which we did daily, as well as visit Dubrovnik by boat on a couple of occasions.
The views, well they are stunning a speak for themselves.
I would say the hotel is around a 3- 3 and a half star hotel, so can understand why some may have higher expectations, but our experience was amazing and we would recommend.

The hotel is in a beautiful location and has lots of potential. Unfortunately that is all the good I can say about it.
The rooms are small and basic, don't waste your money and upgrade to a sea view as all rooms are a 'side sea view' in block B where we were allocated.
All inclusive is a joke, food basic and bland, with very little choice. What choice there was had flies on and was either over cooked or under cooked. There is a pizza corner but there is a choice of Margarita or Margarita!
The restaurant its self is like a school canteen. No linen napkins, or table clothes. No teaspoons just wooden stirrers and a plastic spoon.
The soft drinks were nothing short of horrendous, all dispensed from a self service station and cheap.... very very cheap no branded drinks and not bottled water yet you it is forbidden to refill water bottles.
If you are brave enough to have a drink in the bar.... don't make a noise. it's like a library and seriously lacks any atmosphere.
No spa despite it being advertised!
No entertainment despite it being advertised!
No sea view despite paying extra for it.
No tea or coffee in the rooms despite it being advertised.
No one interested!!
Save yourself and your money and book a 2 star down the road and eat out. Or better still book the 5* Hotel Croatia down the road for £200 cheaper.
No way a 4*, I wouldn't class it as more than a 2* which is a shame as the location is amazing.
