One of the most inviting places I've stayed in. Perfect in every way from its heated beds to family style dinners. Truly a place where you can relax after a day of climbing or hiking located at the base of beautiful mountains.

This is a comfortable base in an idyllic setting for climbers and hikers just outside Shigu town. Extremely good value - rooms running around GBP10 per night with excellent home cooking at very reasonable prices and an honesty bar. A theme of sustainability prevails with a lot of recycled materials, composting toilets etc. Difficult to fault really. As others have commented the owners are delightful and cannot do enough to help.

My husband and I brought his parents up here for four days. We all had a great time. Reuben, Ling, and their son Ashley were extremely welcoming. The food was delicious. We stayed in two double rooms. The upstairs rooms have a rustic charm, downstairs are super clean with concrete floors. The courtyard was an excellent place to chill in the sun in the morning before a climb. The climbing spots are very picturesque so that even our parents who climb very little enjoyed themselves. My father-in-law particularly enjoyed renting a bike to ride down to the town for market day (Thursday). Make sure you have breakfast every morning, a variety of noodles or erkuai, always with an egg or two. Fried rice is a perfect take away lunch for the crag. Definitely coming back!

A friend convinced me to come visit, and I’m so glad I did. Staying here was definitely a highlight of my trip to China so far. It’s clearly a favorite among climbers, and Ling and her husband have plenty of information regarding hiking and climbing around the area. I’m not particularly athletic nor do I climb, but I still loved my stay here. The scenery is incredibly dramatic and beautiful, and you’re staying right in it! The house itself is gorgeous, and even has excellent showers with hot water (!). Despite being far out in the mountains, our entire stay was very comfortable. They serve delicious meals, and even arranged for us to go to the Tuesday market (I recommend timing your stay so you can visit the market! It’s quite fun!) Ling was superb - so friendly, chatty, and warm. She’s incredible! However, my favorite part of my stay was Lucy, their super sweet dog. She’s a joy. Shigu is just an hour from Lijiang, and I much prefer it to Lijiang itself. I believe they can pick you up from Shigu, but I was able to get a shared car that dropped me off at the guesthouse for 25 yuan.
