Even though the rooms are simple, this Guesthouse is awesome. The staff is really the best. Gentle, helpful, caring, they make your stay the most pleasant. And in the mornings, around 8:30, a lady musician comes play her Zheng (Chord instrument), which is a very calming and soft music for breakfast. The breakfast is great for westerners, toasts, eggs, fruits... More

staying at Zen Garden hotel feels like staying in a wooden alpine chalet with rooms overlooking a small courtyard garden. You are completely sheltered from the old town buzz, yet five minutes walk from its central square. I stayed in November and the very hot shower was very welcome. Manager Yang Zhi Mei speaks English and is always helpful. As... More

This hotel is so handy for the Old Town, a 5-minute walk to the main square. Despite this we did not hear any noise late at night so it was also very relaxing. The people are fantastic; always there with tea and sunflower seed biscuits, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Very pleased with our choice, thank you... More

On a 21 day trip in China this was our favourite hotel from a list of four star hotels several of which were "upgraded". Really peaceful and perfectly located, the staff were all pleasant and helpful the breakfasts tasty and plentiful. Tea and biscuits seemed to be available around the clock and appeared whenever we passed through reception.

We just loved this place. We came here after the noise and bustle of Chengdu and felt instantly at home. Nearby was a lot of noisy loud music, but it all stopped at 11 p.m.and it is so much easier to tolerate noise if you know it is going to stop! The staff were so helpful. Nothing was too much... It is a small quiet hotel in the noisy Lijiang .You can view the beautiful old architecture, enjoy the friendly service and the somewhat small breakfast. You cannot reach the Hotel by car because it is located in the old town. Ask for a luggage carrier before.

The most impressive feeling are the staffs here who can communicate in English and being so very helpful, by our whole trip in China that unable to find a person who speak a word of English, we found two person here. They also reply email in English perfectly and offer a pick up from airport with 100 RMB per car... More

I arrived at this hotel quite late at night. A man from the hotel met my taxi at the main road outside the old town, grabbed my two suitcases and hand luggage and took them for me down the cobbled lanes into the old town to the hotel. Tea and sesame seed cookies were waiting for me. I was hungry... More
