Ask for upgrade. Get town recommendations from staff because lots of places are too touristy or rip offs. You know exactly what room you are booking because some rooms can be small they are very friendly so getting an upgrade is a possibility if not fully booked.

If you are traveling to Lijiang, definitely book your stay with The Bivou! Initially, we are planning to book ourselves to stay in one of the luxury hotel such as the Banyan Tree in Lijiang for this trip and to hike the Tiger Leaping Gorge. However, we came across The Bivou when searching for hotels to stay in Lijiang and...

As an expat family in China for 6 years, we have had many travel experience through the whole country. We loved Yunnan, and our stay at the Bivou is clearly one of the best memories. The hotel was perfect, the staff extremely nice and helpful. Staying in Shuhe is probably a better choice than Lijiang: more quiet, and the place...

We stayed here for two nights and truly enjoyed the cozy and relaxed feel of the accommodations. Staff was very attentive, amazing and spoke English. Bivou is tucked away in the back streets of Lijiang but the vibe is very inviting and offers great spots to hang out. The rooms are well thought out and has a contemporary feel to...

One evening they also offered us some tea they had prepared for them and explain us the difference between the typical qualities of tea of Yunnan. Breakfast is great and genuine: everything is good, fresh and tasty. Our room was really comfortable, well and modern furnished, with...

Amazing friendly welcome from the staff. We loved the hotel and the picturesque town. Would recommend it to anyone. Only possible difficulty was stairs down to bathroom at night. Right in the centre of town.

Had a really pleasant 8N stay at the Bivou thanks to the wonderful team. Hwee Leng's team consisting of Joe, Rita and Tammie were attentive to our needs prior to and throughout the stay - answering my many queries on the itinerary (they have some amazing itinerary for your consideration that will bring you to the paths less travelled) and...

We stayed with our four young children at the Bivou. It was a wonderful place to explore Lijiang from. The staff were amazingly helpful, before we arrived and during our stay. We loved Iris' free guided tour of Shuhe old town. The room was a fantastic size for six of us. Breakfast was simple but tasty. The fresh fruit always...
