I understand that they will be closed during the winter for major remodeling. I liked this hotel which is tucked away in an alley in ShuHe old town. The service was great and we were met at the entrance to the old town and helped with our luggage. The small hotel has a garden in the back and fresh vegetables... More

Looking for a unique travel experience, we stayed at The Bivou Family Suite in December. Even before we arrived, The Bivou team was friendly and helpful, from emailing comprehensive activity advice, to weather and packing hints (for the walks and treks, sturdy walking shoes with good grip!), to the call a concerned GM Hwee Ling made to my husband back... Nice, small hotel in the middle of the Shuhe Old Town - walking distance to all the attractions, shops and restaurants - but still quiet and tranquile. But what is the best of this place is the staff. They are very helpfull and can address all your questions and queries. Upon arrival we were given with the maps of the... More

There is simply nothing to fault here. The praise you read is well earned. Great staff. Beautifully executed boutique hotel. It's in Yunnan but could be anywhere in the world and win clients. Easily. If you want a bath robe and boring generic 5 star stuff, stay in the city. Otherwise book early and head to The Bivou.

Dear Lance T Wow, thank you for this short and sweet review that nonetheless speaks volumes! Thank you especially for affirming what we have done so far as a design boutique hotel, what we aspire to do and how we do it, despite the fact that we know ourselves that we are not perfect and can never be. You have... More

We chose the Bivou to see another aspect of China after myriad trips to Beijing, Guilin, Xian, Shanghai and it was exactly the setting were after. The hotel and Old Shuhe are so special you must go there! The excursions arranged by the hotel are fantastic. Our memories of the Bivou will last a lifetime.

We stayed a total of 4 nights and as a large group, it was a test on the hotel to accommodate he different personalities and demand. However the team at Bivou exceeded our expectation and was extremely knowledgeable about everything you could ask about LiJiang and the surrounding. The front office manager Joe was especially helpful and professional beyond his... More

We stayed as a family of four (two kids) in June 2016. The Bivou is charmingly set, with a quirky collection of buildings just off the main Shuhe Old Town street and overlooking a beautiful collective garden. The hotel is not set up in the ways we are used to, but charming, if quirky. The lobby and restaurant are not connected to the rooms; you have to go outside to connect.
