We initially booked this hotel as the reviews said English speaking staff. Unfortunately the English speaking staff have left. However, the remaining staff were amazing at helping us book excursions and things to do and tried very hard to help us as much as they could, but it was quite stressful at times to communicate what we wanted or needed and left us feeling annoyed when it wasn’t anyone’s fault. Despite this, the worst thing about this hotel was not the location or the appearance of the place (both were lovely and convenient), but the other guests. The walls are very thin and we could hear everything going on around us from loud conversations to TV blaring to snoring and other things that I won’t go into detail about!!! We had a terrible nights sleep 2 nights in a row and after telling the staff, nothing was done until we asked to change rooms somewhere quiet for our final night. They moved us but unfortunately again the other guests kept us up past 1am chatting and watching TV. If you are planning on having an active holiday like us where you need to get up early to hike or explore, don’t stay here as you won’t get a good nights sleep. The breakfast was poor. Stale bread, fruit that had been left out for ages, not even any Chinese food on offer (I think you had to ask but we can’t speak much Chinese and no one offered), no atmosphere - the breakfast place looked like it was a closed down restaurant the whole time, and the lady who worked in the kitchen asked us for photos with her because we are western. I don’t mind being in photos sometimes but after having a terrible nights sleep and awful breakfast I do not want to be pestered like a zoo animal for a photo. o I feel this review is very honest, though I would like to say again that the staff at the main desk really did try and that deserves to be recognised. However, I would not recommend.

Positive: The hotel is located in a quiet street away from the busy main area. The architecture of the hotel complements the Shuhe old town and has a certain resort atmosphere. Negative: What I read about how great the service experienced by previously guests last year and earlier this year is TOTALLY MISSING during our stay! We learned that Ricky, the previous GM has left and that may have created a big void in the service standard. My wife & I booked a double room at 630RMB. When we compared our room size against twin bed room, there is no different. Yet it cost about 130 RMB more just to have a double bed. Unless you feel that it is important to snuggle in a double bed, it is not worth paying the extra. While we were greeted and helped with the luggage by the staff on duty upon arrival, we were simply served with a cup of floral tea. The staff was helpful in providing where to eat and how to navigate Shuhe. But what happened to the usual traditional Chinese tea service that previous guests received? When we returned on the first evening, we were told that the owner is in the tea room across the reception but staff on duty did not attempt to invite us to enjoy a cup or two of tea with the owner like how previous guests were treated. Breakfast was simple and disappointing. We support the eco-friendly movement, not expecting fresh bed linen daily but returning to our room on the second day to find our bed not made up was unacceptable.

We have travelled Yunnan for 15 days and our first stop has been Lijiang, beautiful city! We stayed in this Hotel for 3 nights in December and we loved it, the staff has been super nice and we'd like to thank them all for the beautiful stay, they even suggested us some crazy nice restaurants and eventually have couple of drinks with them at night, amazing! Couldn't ask for anything more, they helped us getting the expereince we were looking for. And also were nice and helpful to help us arrange our exploration around the city. (Sorry guys if we haven't accepted one of your WeChat requests, a Hug to you all, it has been a great time thanks to you).

Very nice setting and the rooms are very clean. My boys love the toilets attached as it has bathtub. Very good during winter time. The staff are friendly and they help to carry luggages. Breakfast was made by friendly staff with local taste. It is really worth coming back again for the value for money.

Me and my family had a great time staying at this inn for three nights. The staffs are friendly and helpful, but at the same time gives you the privacy that you need. The inn is beautifully constructed with a nice traditional ambience. Room is comfortable with all the modern amenities available. The only wish I had was for the floor heating to be turned up slightly as it gets a little cold in late November. Overall it was a superb stay.
