This is what we look for in a guesthouse. Friendly, relaxed and suitable for a hyper 2 yr old. The guesthouse was run by Keiko and along with her partner Oliver and their young son Sullivan, they made our last stop of a very long adventure one to remember. We couldn't have asked for any more and certainly would not...

Depth of Feild guesthouse was pleasant enough, good sized room and comfortable bed. The village itself didn't seem to be a fishing village however, something we were looking forward to. It's main draw card for us was the title an 'old fishing village', there didn't seem to be any evidence of this while we were there, just a few boats...

This is a wonderful, spacious place with lovely, clean and comfortable rooms (especially the beds!). We so enjoyed our stay. We filled all the available bedrooms and Keiko and Oliver were amazingly accommodating of the many people staying - of all ages! - even when we took over the kitchen for hours on end... Keiko was an amazing host who...

I stayed at Depth of Field in May of 2015, and really enjoyed my stay here. I had a tastefully decorated room on the third floor, and when I stepped outside in the morning I was treated to a wonderful view of the mountains and surrounding towns and fields. At night, the stars. Keiko is a lovely hostess, and in...

I stayed for two weeks here, and for my first time traveling to China this did not disappoint! As an artist I found it an incredibly inspiring place and probably one of the greatest trip experiences of my life. I was introduced to delicious food and a genuine China lifestyle that I was hoping for. Biking is great around the...

I stayed at Depth of Field in November 2013 for ten days. The inn is very pretty and serene, with stylish furnishings, but a comfortable home-like atmosphere. The courtyard is a lovely place to just sit and read, in sun or shade, surrounded by flowers and vegetables growing in the garden. Sullivan (the little boy) Gui Gui ( the dog)...

I stayed for about 1 week in Sept 2014, and in the end didn't want to leave! Caicun village is a good alternative base to staying in Dali old town which, as another reviewer mentioned, can be a bit of a tourist circus. Caicun is right by Lake Erhai and surrounded by fields that are busy with local farmers from...

I stayed for three nights as part of a bicycle touring trip from Kunming to Shaxi. I've already been to Dali before and have had enough of the tourist zoo atmosphere that pervades there. In my mind, the Old Town is an ok place to swing through for eating and drinking, but the real charm of Dali lies in Erhai...
