I booked the superior double room for three nights. Great room, nice style, clean, new, quiet and garden view. The standard rooms are really basic and a little bit noisy because of a road in front. Big breakfast selection, bikes available for renting, staff is very friendly and helpful but should clean the social area more properly. You can walk... More

The location is good and the room is fairly comfortable with reasonable price. The staff on the other hand is the down side. They are unhelpful and doesn't seem really interested in the guests. They can't give you simple instructions of what to do around town and how to go to places. On the first night we arrived very tired... More

Pros: 1.The hostel is very basic, for 20 rmb per night the dorms were pretty much what we expected, The matress was comfortable enough. 2. The WiFi was fine, not the best, but we have seen worse. 3. Great location, 5 min. walk to the old city main street, 20 min. by bike to the three pagodas. 4. Absolutely amazing... More

I came here with my boyfriend for 2 nights and everything was good ! The owner and staff are really welcoming and helpful (tips for the bus, places to eat...). This hostel is also well located and quite cheap. We had an economic double room (twin beds) which was simple but really clean and confortable. Shared bathroom was also clean... More

We stayed 3 nights in a double room and enjoyed it. The hostel is located 5 minutes walk for the west gate, outside of the old town which is more quiet. The common area is made of a huge restaurant/cinema room and a patio. There's also a large backyard. Wifi was working well everywhere. The double rooms are spacious and... More

Clean place all around, staff is very helpful and friendly, inexpensive mountain bike rental, pretty good map, awesome WiFi, nice food including western breakfast, and just a 5 minute walk to the old town. Would stay again and again. It's a bit up on the hill, there is a sign next to the road you need to walk up and... More

5 Elements is a pretty good little hostel. Nothing amazing, but the staff is friendly and helpful. We've stayed there twice. Once my son got sick in the night and the staff gladly helped with clean sheets. Another time I was traveling with a group and the staff did a little cookout for us. It's nice to be away from... The Hostel and rooms are spacious and very clean, additionally everything has a colorfoul touch and is well mantained - it felt a bit like home immediately. Staff is very friendly and attentive. They explained the surroundings, organized transport to the train station and were very agreeable. Also the food we tried was really nice, you can get a cold... More

First, note that it's a bit far from the new Dali, about an hour by bus. The hostel has big common spaces with a nice terrace in the back. Although it's not the most hip and modern hostel you will ever stay in it's cosy and comfortable with a pleasant service. Furthermore, it's right next to the old city and... More

I didn't really understand why this got such good reviews. It's right off a four lane highway so loses the charm of Dali a bit. The room I stayed in had tiled floors and felt quite cold and bare. The common areas are good so potentially it is more fun at busier times. Good value but nothing exceptional.
