We stayed in a double room with the most incredibly comfortable bed I have ever slept in. That and the food was so good, we booked a second night. We ate perfectly cooked pasta in the stunningly designed garden restaurant and drank a very good bottle of wine which was reasonably priced. The hotel/hostel has plenty of advice about tours and trips and the owners, Song and Dave, were friendly warm and welcoming. In fact, the second night we enjoyed a lively chat with some locals and left reluctantly the next day as the rain prevented further exploration. Dali ancient town is across the road from the Jade Emu and Xihou Market is just a local bus ride away. We will definitely return to Jade Emu when next in Yunnan!

I stayed here for four nights and was, in general, very impressed. The English of the staff is good and the information they provided on all the things to do in Dali was excellent. The hostel is superbly clean and there is an lovely bookshop and the food looks good but isn't very cheap. Coffee's good. Only complaint was the 6 man dorm wasn't great. Got woken up (and sometimes kept up) by the road outside and was constantly too hot. Still deserves 5 stars but I would choose a different dorm.

We had booked 4 nights a room „deluxe king“. I was delux. The hostel is 4 minutes to the old city. The hostel offers a lot of activities. Billiard competition, Tabel tennis, poker, tea Degustation. They organize also further transportation to Lejiang, to the airport..... Their restaurant is good, westerly and Chinese.

It is 5 mins to the old town, across a busy road. Place is laid back and largely friendly. Clientele looks very cosmopolitan with few locals. Clean rooms, very comfortable beds but semi cold showers. Lobby has a bar and some food. You can pass the time here.
