#1 of 14 Specialty lodging in Turpan
Dap Hostel, located on the eastern edge of Turpan city, is a typical Uyghur-style house with grape trellises covering the front yard, and three jujube trees and other plants in the back yard. Here, guests can spend the day lazing under the grape trellises and enjoying the cool shade with snow meltwaters flowing through the garden, just as if relaxing in the Grape Valley.

I don’t think this hostel is much cheaper for an individual room than one of the hotels, but it’s a it’s still such a great place. It may be lacking in some comforts such as en-suite bathrooms, but the workers are extremely helpful, the open courtyard with common tables where guests mingle and share experiences is what made my stay in the city so enjoyable. The decor is tasteful and fun. My 9-year-old son absolutely loved how well he was treated and the freedom he felt to play and meet the other guests and staff.

This is a review of the New Dap Hostel (Gracetown) - they’re not on TA yet! 3 night stay at the tail end of a long trip. This place was so refreshing after Tashkurgan and Kashgar. Beautifully decorated and soooooo clean. We had a twin room and were so pleased with it. Great decor, great bathroom, great toilet, great towels. Our shower was a bit slow to drain which we have reported. The linen was nice. Firm mattress, which I like. Air con fantastic. Shower hot and reliable. Hot water on tap from front desk and you can buy fresh coffee and cold drinks. No food available. There is a small mini mart next door for milk, yoghurt, noodles, etc. lots of fruit stands and lots of bread shops nearby. For dinner there are a lot of options of good local food nearby. There’s a big supermarket 2kms walk away. Big thanks to Wayne- fixed transport for us to local attractions, was an all round great guy and helped with a cab to the train station plus wrote out some super helpful phrases for us. Thanks Wayne!!

We stayed for one night in this hostel, and will remember it as one of the most unique hostels that we had ever stayed at. It was a little hard to find, but all the locals are familiar with it. It is located in an alley just off 8th Ring Road. The name of the hostel is on a blue sign at the entrance to the lane, with the hostel name in Mandarin and English. The Alley has a brick surface, and the hostel is at the second white tiled entrance on the left. The entrance design is traditional Uighur with a grapevine at the top. The door is a faded blue with more grape, flower and dancing character symbols. Press the button for access. On entry the reception desk is to your left and the courtyard area which consists of a grapevine and many comfortable seats is straight ahead. There is a refrigerator which stocks water, beer and other beverages for a reasonable cost. The hostel will assist with taxis for tours and other arrangements. The two ladies who we spoke to both knew a little english which was enough for us to communicate. The room was simple yet clean and comfortable and the wifi worked well. Our bathroom was supposed to be private, but we ended up sharing it with a couple in the next room. This arrangement was still better than using the general bathrooms. Laundry service was provided for a reasonable cost. We found the area to be a great location to start exploring Turpan, as it was a 15 minute walk to the Museum, outside of which there are many transportation options. We thought that this was one of the best hostels that we had ever stayed in.

The hostel is very beautiful, with vineyards hanging around the common area which really added to the atmosphere. It's a relaxing place to read a book and meet other travellers. Rooms were also very clean. I loved the persian (or maybe Uyghur?) rugs inside the room which was very clean and tidy. While I was there, there was a girl who accidentally left her phone in the car while hitchhiking. The hostel owners were very nice in trying to help with the police etc. to help her recover it.
