We stayed at the Yeti after 8 hours in the car sightseeing from Lhasa. The staff was helpful and friendly. They spoke enough English for our needs. We usually like to explore for dinner but after a long day decided to try the hotel restaurant. Great veggie momos and Chicken Tikka set, but the star of the evening was the dal soup! We had trouble figuring out the heater and with a low of 36 degrees Fahrenheit that was a real issue. Two charming ladies came up to our room and fixed everything! Sure the beds were hard, but we have had harder and this is to be expected in India and China. Just here one night , but very happy with our stay!!!
We checked in Had dinner there. With our guide. Room faces street. You hear street noise all night. Electricity was off a 9PM and 7AM. Could not shower. Breakfast was ok. No sleep. No electricity. DO NOT stay here. The place is old. Tired. Dirty. Smelly. Noisy.
We stayed one night at the Yeti Hotel. The dinner was delicious Nepalese food. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, even getting breakfast for us ready before our early departure. The rooms were cramped but comfortable. Like most Tibetan hotels we stayed at the beds were hard but adequate.
We just returned from a trip to Tibet a few weeks ago and this was our favorite hotel we stayed at outside of Lhasa. The hotel is a short walk from the sites in Gyantse. It is clean and comfortable. It is the staff that made the stay here great. They worked exceptionally hard to be sure we enjoyed our stay. They were particularly attentive in the restaurant and the food in the restaurant was excellent. In the evening one of the staff saw me photographing the nearby fort lit up at night through a hallway window and offered to take me to the roof for a much better shot. Would definitely stay here again.
Stayed here on our Tibet tour. Hotel was clean, hot water worked and of course being Tibet, the wifi is spotty. The staff is exceptionally helpful. They went out of their way to help me out when I was trying to resolve an issue with my tripod. I lost two of the rubber tips which made it unusable unless I wanted to damage the carbon fiber feet. My bright idea was to screw in a couple of long bolts so it would have something to stand on. When I asked where in town that there might be the sort of shop I could buy bolts the staff offered to do it for me. Sure enough, in less than 30 minutes the gentleman returned with 3 proper bolts and only wanted 5 rimbi for the service. He was a lifesaver.
During our trip through Tibet, we had a nice stay in Yeti Hotel in Gyantse. The room and bathroom was clean, hot water and wifi, good service. The restaurant was very cozy, the staff very friendly and attentive. The food was very good (we had Indian) and the view of the old town is stunning. Highly recommend.
Very comfortable place, tasty food and very kindly stuff. We could use the garden, even there was service available. All the stuff members could speak English and helped us in all questions. Special thanks to Prakash Wosty!
The Yeti hotel has comfortable rooms and an excellent restaurant. The bathroom was a little shabby but the shower was great and more than made up for appearances. Facilities are not 5 star but Gyantse is not a place to visit if your expectations are for that type of accommodation. The restaurant offers Tibetan, Chinese, Nepali and Western food and was some of the best we experienced anywhere in Tibet. Reasonable prices and delicious.
Wonderful little hotel tucked away thru an alleyway. Basic but authentic Tibetan, lovely decorations, clean and quiet. Meals in the restaurant were very good. Beer was cold! I couldn't get any hot water but for one night this was not an issue. Hotel staff were very likely the owners and very pleasant and gentle. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay but don't expect 4 or 5 star amenities. Simple and true.
Awful rooms, dirty and the hotel is very frugal with the hot water, the bathroom was tiny and filthy, the breakfast and dinner were awful, greasy and did not cater to the western pallet at all. We would never stay here and could never recommend it to anyone
