Auckland Region, New Zealand

Rooms are spacious and comfortable, but ours was damp, with constant water on the floor of the bathroom, damp towels and condensation on windows and walls. Relatively quiet place to sleep and convenient location to the parks, but this is undermined by the surly, unhelpful staff even with someone who speaks Chinese to interpret. Breakfast was almost completely Chinese and...

A great experience with much to see! This wonderful region is not often frequented by foreigners and is more of a local tourist attraction. However, not being locals, me and my partner still had a great time and were able to travel with relative ease. The main area in Jiuzhai is one long street, with blocks of hotels, shops, markets,...

The Jiuzhaigou region is one of the highlights for tourists in China. Whilst the domestic market is booming, the declining international tourists are left feeling a bit cold. And at the Mingya Hotel that is the feeling. Cold all round. Even the girls at the reception desk had overcoats on for the entire duration of our stay. A better option...

As other reviewers have said, this isn't a hotel (or area) especially equipped for western visitors, but it does the job as it's the sights of Jiuzhaigou we were there for. The hotel was part of a Wendy Wu tour and thankfully our guide arranged check in etc. as there was very little English spoken. Rooms were more basic than...

Let's face it, you don't come up here for the fantastic hotel, you come for the amazing views. We had been warned the hotel was not of the standard that we had seen in others areas. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was on the small side, but quite adequate, kettle to make tea. The walls are paper thin and...

We were in the area to visit the Huanglong and Jiuzhaigou (Nine Valley) national parks. Both noted for their beauty but almost exclusively visited by Asian people. We were originally booked into the Elegance Hotel but the Wendy Wu rep said they had changed to get a better supply of hot water and quality of breakfast. The room was very...

We were in this area visiting the Huanglong and Jiuzhaigou National Parks, both of which were well worth visiting, although we were a bit early in the year particularly for the former and some of the lakes were dry or very low. Our agent had originally booked us into the Jiuzhai Holiday Resort Hotel which has pretty average reviews so...
