The Hotel Indigo Birmingham is located in a landmark Art Deco-style building dating from the early 1930s in the city's historic Five Points South neighborhood. Originally designed for medical offices and across from the first apothecary in Birmingham, the building became a hotel in the 1980s, but still retains its original medical insignia etched above the elevator doors. The hotel's design acknowledges the building's rich history, while incorporating modern amenities, like hardwood floors, spa-inspired showers, luxury bath amenities and linens. We're also adding some exciting (and tasty) options to an area already known as one of the city's premier dining and entertainment districts. The Rx Lounge pays homage to the medical apothecary theme and provides prescriptions in the form of food and beverage curated by acclaimed Chef Niko Romero.

My wife travels for work to Birmingham and I accompany her sometimes so we have stayed in just about every hotel in the city. We were excited to stay at the hotel indigo five points because we had enjoyed the experience in other cities like Nashville. However, the staff here was unprofessional and sometimes downright rude. For example, we were checking in and they were having an inappropriate conversation even though there’s was a line of people needing assistance. I asked about parking and the assistant manager Prasecca was rude and unhelpful and put her finger in my face even though I was just asking a question. I asked to speak to manager and she went to get her and unsurprisingly no one came out to help us. As for the room, the bed was fine but it was hot and stuffy. We asked if someone could help us with thermostat but as you can guess, no one did. There was not a fridge or microwave so if that’s something you look for keep that in mind. The bathroom is fine- shower and bathroom/mirror in one room. Also, if you’re a light sleeper, then know the walls are thin. You can hear people in hallways, doors, outside, etc. There are some nice hotels in Bham- Hilton, Westin ...that are lovely but THIS is not one of them!

I didn't know it when I booked it but I prefer this location to the downtown area which seems to roll up the sidewalks at night. Five Points is lively and walkable. The hotel was charming. I liked the bed and the strong water pressure in the shower. They have a small but hip little bar/lounge area in the lobby (they're trying to compete with Aloft, it seems). There is no self-parking here, you're required to either valet ($22 a night) or a public parking garage at the end of the block.

The location in 5 points, near UAB and the main University hospital is quite convenient, plus many restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner are just outside the door, around the corner. The rest is pretty much an average Indigo chain hotel except that rooms are not very spacious, bar and restaurant are really basic and minimal (I suppose given the offer outside the door, the customer don't really flock it). Outside the people going around are not always the "affluent" type and you can see some homeless who, generally speaking will not bother you in any way.

I stayed here on my recent business trip to Birmingham. The hotel is a renovated and restored building in the historic Five Points area of Birmingham. It is located close to UAB. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. The walk-in shower was great but the sliding glass door tended to stick. The staff was exceptionally friendly.

I spent three wonderful nights in the Hotel Indigo Birmingham Five Points and it exceeded my expectations on every level! My flight arrived late but I was still able to grab a delicious burger and beer right downstairs at the Black Market Bar and Grill. There are a bunch of cool bars and both cheap and upscale places to eat literally right next to the hotel. Self parking is super convenient and cheap right behind the hotel for under $20/day or you can use the valet service. I was visiting Birmingham for the first time to see the Civil Rights Sites and was able to walk or Lyft/Uber basically anywhere in the city for under $10. The bartender at the Apothecary bar was super nice as were all the hotel staff ! Thanks for a wonderful stay!! Would definitely stay there again should I visit Birmingham again!
