TLDR: you can do better. As I write this, I’m staying at this hotel for a conference. When we pulled up yesterday I was impressed. The hotel looks great and the front desk staff was friendly and efficient. My room however, smelled strongly of mold. (As did my employees’s room). As I considered whether I could put up with it, my bathroom plumbing began making gurgling noises. - every few minutes… So I was given another room. By comparison, the second room was much less moldy smelling! I also noticed a lavender roll-on scent next to the bed. I wonder it this is in recognition of the smell (which I think is from the AC which is kinda gross to think about). This morning I went looking for the Peloton bike their website said was in the gym. No bike. And the front desk had never heard of one. Glad I packed my bike shoes… But they said they had 3 rooms with peloton bikes and I could have one. You have a room available? Said I. Yes, I was told, just pack up your room and come back to the desk. So I packed up my room (for the second time!) and went back to the desk. Oh, I’m sorry, I was told, we made a mistake. All the peloton rooms are taken. I’ve always considered Westin a sure thing: probably a great room but definitely great service. Not here. I can forgive a tired room if the staff makes up for it with great service. The front desk just could not care less that they had had me pack up my room only to go back. I’ll stay in Westin again, but I can’t imagine staying in this one.

Ask the firont desk about parking and was told to park in garage around back. She would give me key card to get in and out. She did not SAY it was extra and I was hit for $140 bill... Accounting(after I called FIVE times) wouldn t do anything to fix it even thi it was THEIR mistake.. The desk person should have stated that it was extra... Pretty sleazy

Poorest customer I have ever experienced. I stayed at this Westin about 10 times. Front desk is rude and will try to charge early check in fees without checking your status. Charged me a $250 smoking fee. I did not smoke in the room. When I called for an explaination as to why this happened. They said they would look into it and call me back in an hour. After repeatedly calling the hotel trying followed to follow up. They refuse to call me back. I had to stop payment on my credit card. Next time I checked in. I asked to speak with the hotel manager about this. They sent out the hotel security guard that treated me like I was a teenager who got caught skipping school. He told me I would have to get a lawyer if I wanted to dispute it. They have an extremely toxic culture at this hotel. They are rude and try to intimidate guests. Rooms are never ready at check in. They do not honor Marriot status and treat guest with utter disrespect. Front desk agents are very confrontational. Management hides and never returns calls when complaints are made. They need to get rid of most of their staff and start fresh. Worst customer service I have ever experienced anywhere…by far.

All around bad. Service was poor reluctant and deceitful. Room had a mildew odor. Nothing worked as it should. House keeping poor cleaning on only 1 of my 4 nights despite claiming daily house keeping. One day removed a dirty towel and emptied 1 of 2 trash cans only then put a do not disturb sign on my door. I guess as an excuse should I complain. Carpet needs replacement in 2020 it’s probably beyond cleaning. Felt like a cheap hourly motel. Marriott should be ashamed, terrible mark on their reputation.

The hotel itself it's ok (not as clean as I expected from previous stays at other Westins), but this new tendency where hotels do not provide breakfast is simply RIDICULOUS. I was in an event at the BJCC with 300 other people and everyone has basically the same comment: breakfast is a BUFFET thing, no one has 50 minutes to wait for scrambled eggs that you ordered from a menu. As described in many other comments here, you better search for another hotel in Birmingham.

The other reviews are right on this one. It's not completely terrible, but it's just not what you would expect from a Westin. The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable. We couldn't ever get the temperature right in the room. We begged for 2 days before we finally got our room cleaned. The restaurant at the hotel was only open sporadically. The workers that we interacted with were all nice. They just seem to be extremely understaffed. For BJCC, the location is great.

If you value clean sheets, towels, and just an overall clean room, this hotel is not for you. I switched rooms 3 times and all three rooms had VERY noticeably stained sheets, holes in the sheets, and stained towels. I have no idea how this hotel can call itself a Westin, as it is not up to the standards of one. Extremely unsanitary conditions in the first room.. (feces all over the sheets). Do not recommend at all. Spend your money elsewhere.

Overall not terrible, but my room was in bad disrepair for the price. The wallpaper was peeling off on every wall, stains all over the tables, the vanity mirror was broken, the accessibility handle in the shower was broken, and every elevator was either sticky, covered in fluid, had broken signs, or broken buttons. It’s still serviceable, but I expect better for the cost.

Moldy bathroom (see photos). Had to ask three times for room to be serviced. Hallway smelled like a toilet. They have a rude elevator cop at night (just install key card for elevator). No one staffed the sundry at night and elevator cop told me to go back to the front desk to pay for chips. No one from front desk ever came out. Many better places to stay in Birmingham.
