EXCELLENT Staff, specially Alice. Very kind and always ready to help. Speak perfect English, also some of her staff (restaurant, house keeping). Location is great with many activities and visits to do. Hotel can help, recommend and arrange if you want. Rented a scooter (Alice arranged for us), very useful to move around. Only takes 15 min to town (Yangshuo). Restaurant and food great with many delicious options Chinese and Western dishes. Wonderful environment and pool. We stayed on their new hotel (Wonderland Lodge) with a beautiful, clean and comfortable rooms. Will recommend to anyone than wants to spend some days in Yangshuo or coming from Guilin.
I spent 4 nights with some friends during the Golden Week. The place is really nice and the staff very kind and ready to help. It is a quite place very close to the river and the rice fields. It is not far from the town either but you will need to take a scooter or a taxi to get there. I am so glad that I did not stay somewhere downtown because it is too crowded and noisy for my taste. The hotel is also quite clean and the restaurant is not bad at all. We enjoyed a lot our breakfasts in the outside area. I would recommend the place as it is also a great value for money!
This is such a special, charming place. Full credit to the staff for maintaining the same high quality experience over the years - we’ve been visiting consistently over 8 years and will definitely come again next time we are in Yangshuo. It would be better still if they removed all single use plastic (inc. straws, bathroom stuff and water bottles in the room) and provided water dispensers.
Giggling Tree has very good service in a uniquely beautiful area of China! It has a great location to hits lots of the sites in Yangshuo and it is not too close to downtown which is great. Alice and the staff are ready to help suggest day itineraries and answer any questions that guests might have. The rooms are very comfortable and the facility is all-accomodating.
Excellent stay at the Giggling Tree. Switched over to their new building due to a double booking issue and very glad we were. Lovely new suite with a great view. Rooftop is amazing. Service was exceptional, extremely helpful and kind team. Food is ace with an extensive menu of tasty food and drink. We also shipped in some extra wine, which they were cool with. Pool is small and busy, but still lovely and the cycling options are first-rate (though their bikes get a lot of use and are in constant need of repair). Overall an excellent place for a family vacation about a 15-minute drive from Yangshou town.
The hotel is very well located near the famous river path. The owners have kept the authenticity of the old buildings. The staff is very welcoming and attentive. Special attention was given to us on the occasion of our wedding anniversary. There is a lot of flexibility to eat at any time of the day with multiple choices of dishes. The pool is located a little bit apart from the rest of the building so you don't have to worry about the noise coming from there. This is a perfect place for a stay with children.
Top Accommodation! Feeling like coming home. At one evening the cook showed me how to make a typical Chinese noodle dish. Lovely and helpful stuff, (englisch speaking )they managed for us a special boat tour as well . Good location to cycle along the river, you can rent the bicycles in the hotel.
We stayed at the Giggling Tree for 5 days in October, during Golden Week. The hotel is situated in what looks like old renovated farm buildings surrounding a cosy courtyard. Over time the hotel itself got surrounded by newer residential buildings and apartments, but from inside the courtyard these are barely noticeable. The hotel has beautiful views of the valley and surrounding mountains, especially from the terrace and pool, located adjacent to the courtyard. Besides the outside space, there's also plenty of common space to sit inside, including a bookshelf with left behind books and a play area for kids. There's also a play area outside, next to the terrace and toys for kids to play with. The courtyard invites social interaction with the other guests, who in our case were both foreigners and Chinese. The hotel offered a variety of tours and activities, like bike and electric scooter rental. The rooms were neat and equipped with good beds and a decent shower, charmingly decorated, though the fact that you're inside an old farm building is visible by the fact that floor, walls and ceiling are quite worn. After 22:00/10pm everything is quiet, but before that it got quite noisy on some nights due to the surrounding residential buildings. The restaurant offers a great selection of Chinese and Western dishes at reasonable prices. Last but not least, the staff was great. It seems the place was run by a group of young women who met the guest (and especially young children) with warm enthusiasm day after day and provided a near perfect service from serving food to advising guests on activities in the area.…
Just returned after another fabulous holiday at Giggling Tree. Although the area has developed quite a bit over the years it remains a wonderful place. Particular highlights this time were the swimming pool, rock climbing and canoeing. One obvious area of improvement would be to stop providing plastic straws and plastic water bottles. A few water dispensers and paper straws/no straws would be so much better.
We stayed here in 2008 just after the Beijing Olympics, in fact one of the British rowing team was there at the same time, exploring China like us. Incredible location and set-up, a converted farmhouse and buildings, one-of-a-kind experience with paddy fields and hot air balloons just yards away. Bicycles available to spin through the extraordinary karst scenery. It will stay with you forever.
