I had the most special hotel room I have ever had. The mixture of classical Chinese furniture and décor including a 4 poster bed that was just right. The view from my balcony was just indescribably awesome. While you could eat outside enjoying the view of the river and mountains, we went in late January and chose the dining room. Again with a wonderful collection of artwork and a cozy feel plus a real stone fireplace with a fire (something quite rare in China) giving a ski lodge feel and most welcome on a cold misty rainy day. Their homemade pasta was the best I have ever had in China and I have lived in Beijing for 27 years with a large selection of good Italian restaurants. We also really liked their local Guangxi dishes which were delicious as well. Finally the staff were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I would recommend staying here to anyone who is planning to visit the magical land of Yangshuo. …
This little retreat next to the river is a real gem! Beautiful, quiet, and calm with amazing views but the real “ treat” is the staff who are all extremely friendly and able to communicate in English and … the food! OMG. Really! A pizza oven in the middle of nowhere? The golden string shrimp that was ridiculously good. Also plenty of Chinese dishes too. So, if you are hunting for a place to take a break from the big city but still want internet and eat well. This is the one!
I was so happy that I booked this hotel, on multiple recommendations from friends. The hotel restaurant was delicious, they had a large menu with both western and Chinese food. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The room was the exact one in the photos, I booked it for the view of the river and it was worth the price I paid.
Cozy rural hotel in Yangshuo. The hotel is literally over the river and a few minutes by e-bike for literally all! The gardens are beautiful and at night quite romantic. The rooms are rustic and a bit basic but confortable and all facing the river. The restaurant is good and have local and western food. But the very BEST is the staff. Really nice people ready to help every time with anything, they will help you to arrange activities, best routes, restaurants…. We will go again to Yangshuo and we will stay again at the retreat.
My companion and I spent 5 nights at the resort and we loved it. The room (Queen cottage) was very comfortable and private. It was quite hot when we were there, so we didn't do a lot of touring, but that was fine by us! It was lovely sitting and watching the boats drift by. The service and menu is top-notch, with English speaking staff and a competently prepared Western menu. If you need to arrange a massage or get car service, the front desk staff is accommodating, friendly and efficient. The prices are all quite reasonable, as well. Outside the resort is quite busy with lots of tourists and a fair bit of traffic, however at the resort you feel you're in a secluded paradise. If I were to make two changes in my stay, it would be Corona beer on the menu, and a proper couch in our room. Otherwise, our stay was just great and I'll be sure to go there again.…
We stayed in Room 204 for 2 nights as arranged by our guide, saying it’s highly demanded for its river view with all the karst hills in the background. Pros View is really great. Staff are very warm, accommodating and smiling. Always saying hello and welcoming. Big plus point. Good Chinese and western menu. Much needed western food after being in Guilin and Xinping for the last 4 days. Cons The room was a big disappointment. More importantly, we slept poorly for 2 nights, making it difficult for us to have energy the next day for all our hiking activities. Bed is too hard. Pillows clumpy. Air conditioning either leaked or streamed out water into our suitcase (feedback to reception staff who was very nice and gave us a 20% discount off a dinner). We were woken up in the middle of the night to the sound of pouring water and it’s the air conditioner. Bathroom door creaky and stuck to the floor, hence difficult to open and close. Glass shower stall has a big gap above the floor, in fact there is no block or sealant at the base, so when you shower, the floor outside the shower becomes wet or flooded. I don’t get this. Shower stall doors are also creaky and often stuck. Curtains were of differing lengths hence uneven block-out of sunlight. Lots of curtains in the room (by the windows, as wardrobe ‘doors’ and in the bathroom glass partition between the bedroom) and they all look and feel dirty, and some are broken, making it difficult to open or close them. Busy hotel with large noisy groups of tourists. We also had problems sleeping as we kept hearing scratching noises in the walls and ceilings, and we suspect rats. We also saw rats in the dining area ( perfectly fine as we are indeed out in the nature). We noticed holes drilled into the walls to run cables and pipes for the air conditioning, but these holes were not sealed, hence possible entry ways for rats. I think some will be willing tolerate these for the view. But we’ve been hiking and taking in some amazing views for the last few days in Guilin & Xingping before getting to Yangshuo, so that we prefer to have a good rest above all else. We’re currently in Apsara Lodge. No view but small boutique hotel with much fewer people, more calming with no loud and large group of tourists. Great clean rooms with a simple wood, almost Japanese-like decor. We’re happy here. Restful. With a pool to boot.…
After a long and stressful year teaching, this was a much needed holiday out of Beijing. The location of the hotel itself is perfect - right beside the river with stunning views all round. The food was excellent - we didn't feel the need to go outside the hotel, which is very unusual for us - and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. All in all an excellent holiday - as soon as travel becomes possible again, we will return!
One of The Bestest Place to stay in Yangshou , The resort faces the Mountains and River, Excellent Clean Rooms, Very Very Good Staff , Specially Kate , Michelle and everyone has been so Helpful , Food is Good too with English Menu , Its the Best Place to stay in Yangshou .
Stayed 3 nights and came by train from Shenzhen. You can book train station (Yangshuo) pickup when booking with them or let them know through WeChat. Room with balcony overlooking the karst mountain landscape was spacious. Food in the restaurant is excellent, the chef is from Austria and they have great Western but also Chinese dishes. Try one of the shakes while you sit on the terrace outside overlooking the river. We also really liked breakfast. From the hotel, we rode bicycles to Yulong river, went to do the bamboo river raft and hiked to nearby mountains. Taxi / Didi to Yangshuo town only 10-15 minutes. Staff helped to book a couple of other attractions for us, all very efficient. Great weekend escape!
This hotel probably has one of the best locations in the world, right by the river bend with spectacular view of the beautiful Yangshuo mountains right in front. This is a boutique rustic hotel, with friendly staff and with very good service. The restaurant is also very good and we had a very good dinner in one of the night and again on Christmas Day. Very good choice also for breakfast, where one can choose from either Chinese or Westerns set menus (but staff can easily help you mix and match). The hotel has a lot of bicycles which one can use for free to go around the area. Rooms are spacious and clean and have all amenities. This was a really relaxed stay which we enjoyed very much. The only reason why I did not give an excellent score to this hotel was because I feel that it urgently needs a good refurbishment in all areas. Whilst I do understand that this is a rustic hotel, but we did notice many areas (in the room and also many public areas in the hotel) which need maintenance and upkeep. Fully recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Yangshuo.…
