Shockingly, the owner of this hotel canceled our booking three days before we were supposed to check in. He said it was due to renovations on the property. I have been communicating with him for a month now about how many children we are traveling with and changing our check out date (normal things) and he never once mentioned construction or possibly needing to cancel the booking. Of course we had to waste hours today scrambling to find another hotel and everything within the same price range is booked already. I do not recommend this hotel or his sister property, Mountain Escape, simply because of terrible management.

Here are the key problems I experienced at the hotel: - No hot water in the evening. Upon talking to the host she admitted that they only have hot water first thing in the morning. This is not acceptable as someone who needs to wash before bed. - Building work taking place from 9am through 7pm each day. Very loud and disruptive. The builders almost dropped debris on my head as there were no safety measures taken. The hostess quickly ushered me inside. - The chef was on holiday so there was no breakfast available or meals despite being told that there would be both on the websites and when we signed in. - The beds were rock hard. - No shuttle service was provided. - No decent views (Some images appear to be from locations which you can't get to) - Bikes provided by the hotel are in a poor state. The pedal bikes are rusted and many did not have fully inflated tires. The gas bike was in a similar state of disrepair and also has a fuel gauge which does not work properly leading to us stalling out on a highway, luckily close enough to civilisation to get some gas after walking a short way with the bike. With all these problems made known, there was no recompense or attempt to deal with the problems. We were simply sent to another hotel to purchase our breakfast at our own expense and had to take cold showers. The hostel is in a great location away from the main town and the madness during peak times but unfortunately, it does not hold up to the hotels next door even with price taken into account.

If you want to enjoy the hustle and bustle of Yangshuo but have a quiet place to spend the night, this place is for you. Very peaceful and quiet. we were awakened each morning to the sounds of birds outside our window. The positives for us were: Friendly and helpful staff, amazingly good western breakfast and coffee, reasonably priced and tasty evening meals, onsite electric scooters at a great day rate, free shuttle to town, large rooms. I would definitely stay here again.

This was a nice location, a 15 minuet walk from the main area but they also had a free shuttle into town. The staff were fantastic and very attentive, I can only assume this is why it gets good reviews. The worst part for me is the damp. The bedding and towels were all damp, I woke each morning feeling wet. It wasn’t pleasant! The bathroom was on the balcony exactly as the photos other travellers have posted, the furniture was strange and the whole ambiance just wasn’t great.

I just can't understand how this place received 4 and 5 dot-reviews. The people are nice and helpful, but the hotel is no-way what you expect from seeing the much too flattering pictures on the site. The pictures shown must be from when the hotel was built 15 or more years ago and the state it is in now, is definitely not like what is shown. The bathroom condition is poor. We had a deposit safe in the room that didn't work cause it did not close. (Our friends in the room next to us had a safe that couldn't be opened!) We had to carry our heavy suitcases three stairs up and the offer of the girl at the desk to help was well-meant but useless. There was no wifi signal in our room so we had to go to the corridor or stairs to pick up some signal. Breakfast was good and the night porter is a nice and helpful guy, but for the rest our stay was much below expectation. If you click on the site of the hotel, you are redirected to a much better hotel (Bamboo Leaves), that supposedly belongs to the same owners.
