Our stay at Apart Hotel & Cabanas Vegasur in La Serena was terrible from start to finish. First they tried to make us (Europeans) pay for the VAT for lodging, then it took forever to finalize the registration. The apartment itself was very small and the bathroom very dirty. And to finish off, an expensive jewelry item “went lost“ and mysteriously reappeared two days after, but only after we filed a complaint with the PDI (surveillance tapes don’t lie)! I’d definitely avoid this place!!

Hotel y Cabañas Vegasur is located very close to the beachside. The hotel is somewhat outdated, adequate furnished and decorated (fresh flowers in the lounge), well maintained, quiet, non-smoking. Staffs are very helpful and friendly. The hotel offers 36-rooms with a kitchenette and 12 spacious cabañas. Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet and free parking on the gated property. Our practical small apartment was adequately decorated and furnished, with an OK double bed, TV on the wall and wardrobe with safe. We had a separate bathroom with washbasin, toilet & shower over the bath, and a separate kitchen with table and chairs. The electric healing didn’t work and we got a mobile electric heater. All was clean. Windows can be opened. The buffet breakfast is surprisingly good with fresh fruits, butter & marmalade, toasted rolls, eggs, fresh fruit-juice, and coffee and tea. We recommend Hotel y Cabañas Vegasur to anyone who seeks a good night’s sleep and a good breakfast in an OK seaside establishment.

Pros: - Good facilities: Apartments have two bathrooms, two bed rooms and a living room with a kitchen - They offer free bikes to bike into the city Cons: - It was winter time in July so it was still cold in the morning there is no heating in the apartments so it was very cold in the bathroom - Wifi is avaible but you have to re-enter your access code after every session this is not very useful - Location: these apartments are nearly at the end of the Boulevard in La Serena, downtown La Serena is 5 km.

It must be the bungalows because the apart-hotel units really aren't up to par. The good: perfect location next to the beach, clean, secure, mini-mart outside, fantastic views, and polite and professional staff. The bad: small rooms so bare they don't even have soap and look like something from a mental health unit or a 1* motel. Harsh fluorescent lighting. Piping hissing all night and no hot water pressure. No wifi. Watery coffee. Cold breakfast food. I was out as fast as i could run.

The hotel-style room (departamento) in which we stayed was tiny: the bedroom was tiny, the bathroom was tiny (nowhere to put anything), and the kitchen area was tiny. (We didn't see inside a cabaña, but they looked much more comfortable.) The furnishings were pretty low quality, and it wasn't possible to comfortably hang out in the room. (However, near the reception there is a small lounge with a sofa, where it is possible to sit and read.) We never managed to connect to the wifi. On the plus side, the price (in April) was really low --- it has been many years since we stayed in a hotel so inexpensive. Overall, I'm not sure how to rate this place. If you are looking for a cheap place (at least in April) to stay, it is OK for one night. But I wouldn't stay there longer than that.

Thank you very much for leaving us your comment and evaluation. I appreciate your honest review. The department in which you stayed is indeed one of the smallest we have, and therefore, one of the least expensive as well. Our other departments and, of course, the cabins are much more spacious, and the latter are recently completely renovated. Our suggestion is that when you plan the trip, review the information to take the room that best suits your needs; and for that you can also contact us directly, since our goal is that, our passengers have the best possible experience Best regards,
