It was four and a half years ago when last we came to Battambang. The town has had subtle changes, mainly in the sphere of hotels being built... The fundamental atmosphere of this sleepy wonderful town has thankfully not been disturbed by this growth! The King Fy Hotel stands 7 stories tall overlooking the languid river opposite the centre of town. the view over Battambang and the province is spectacular! The ambience of the hotel is very relaxed and friendly, the rooms are spacious and well air-conditioned, replete with carved traditional furniture. Breakfast out on the terrace was scrumptious! we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel!

I went there for business traveling on December 2011. i stayed with my boss in the suite room only 1 night. the room is very clean with modern amenity. the air condition is very cool and very comfort. the hotel equipped with lift which help us too much. the buffet breakfast meet our preference. the restaurant settled on the top floor with nice landscaping of the river and city. i would rate it as 5 star because of fully service and facilities provided. i recommend this place to everyone.

Two impressive things came out of our stay here. Firstly, the hotel is clean and very close to town (you literally walk over the bridge). Secondly, (and this is important) if you're lucky you get to meet their TukTuk driver Mr Khem Ry. For $20 this amazing man will take you off the beaten track and show you the most wonderful parts of Cambodia. We literally could not believe how stunning the countryside of Cambodia was. The whole day was a life changer. Me and my partner have been beaming for hours as a result of what we've seen today

We booked a 'River View Room' for 3 nights. The room was dark and dingy, smelled musty, the decor was outdated and curtains and walls were in bad condition. The windows had heavy shutters attached, which meant when the windows were closed, there was NO view at all. We changed to a standard room with city view that at least had a normal window and wasn't as musty. However, we found the floor, furniture and walls quite dirty. The pool is in the garage of the building, there were several cockroaches (dead and alive) and the water was very cold - we could not use it. We had too many issues at this hotel. Our booking incluced daily buffet breakfasts, which turned out to be a very limited a la carte. We had to get our key re-set 5 times over the first two days to get into our room. The shower was only luke warm the first couple of days. We booked this hotel as it advertised for free bicycles but were told that there were no bicycles as they were broken by previous guests. The hotel manager did eventually source two very old and worn-out bikes, which resulted in a flat tyre half way through our bike trip. We were unable to use the bikes for the bigger trip we had planned the next day. The manager was not helpful and it took lots of effort to get some of the issues resolved. The roof top sky bar has great views but was very dirty. The entire hotel needs a really good clean and tidy up. We would not recommend staying there at this time.

We got in late and the Kingfy was next door to the place we were eating so we decided to check it out.
In all the pictures this place looked pretty nice and from the outside as well. When we got inside the lobby was beautifully decorated with old wood furniture and carvings but this seemed to be a trick.
We got two rooms, one for us and one for our drivers. When we got to our room it was very dingy and dirty, the toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time as well as the shower and the rest of the room.. But that wasn't it.. Our lights wouldn't turn off and the phone didn't work to ask the front desk about it.
After a night of no sleep and covering our pillows with our tee shirts because the pillowcases were lined with stains we got up to see how our drivers/ friends slept. They had the same complaints as we did.
We decided to go check out the buffet which was not included to save us from driving around to find somewhere to eat. We got there 30 minutes after the breakfast started and there was one scoop of everything left and they had their fruit stored in a dirty old fridge...
We tried to tell the staff about the problems without expecting anything but they didn't seem to care. Don't stay here!

Positives: The service at this hotel is Five Star. Our king room facing the river with balcony was nice at night. The rooms and hotel were always clean and shower was great! The Sky Bar is nice for a night cap. Red wine from $2 a glass
Negatives: Pool is indoor. No hotel spa. Bed was firm (might be a positive for some of you). The bar next door was a little noisy till 11pm.

Imagine you are in a South East Asian country, near the equator. It's hot. It's humid. And you've just been on some 6 hour day trip/track to see some temple. Your undies are wet from sweat, there's a white rim of dried salt on your hat brim, and you're not sure if you have an awesome tan or if it is just dust fused with sweat.
What would you be looking forward to coming back to your hotel?
Aside from not having been robbed by housekeepers, I would imagine you would have answered "AIR-CON and SHOWER"!
The good news is that this hotel has the standard air con of course, but most importantly, THE SHOWER IS AMAZING!!!1one
Most hotels we have been to on our trip had dismal showers, barely enough to get wet, let alone clean off the days worth of fusion sweat /sunscreen /DEET /grime. At another hotel they even had hot water problems that I had to resort to boiling the kettle to fill a tub to have a good warm clean.
We were lucky (maybe) and got upgraded for free to a King Suite on arrivial. The shower in our room had a dual split of a mobile head and a large fixed shower head. The water delivered through the heads were large volume, generous, and strong in stream. It may be that our shower had a problem with drainage, but it felt like the shower was going to flood most times as there's just that much water coming out. The hot water is almost instantaneous, and we never had problems with not having hot water.
Aside from that the King Suite we had was very nice.
Hand carved wooden furnishing is found throughout the hotel, including our room. The room had a large king bed which was slightly hard for my liking, but all hotels in this region appear to share this.
There's a plasma TV in the room with local and cable channels. There were frequent power outages in the Battambang city proper (not where the hotel is), which meant the cable supplier was down most days during daytimes. But I think this is a regional problem and not of the hotel.
There's complimentary water, a small basket of chips and instant noodle which ranges from USD$0.5 to $1.5. There's a small bar fridge with soft drinks and beer. And on arrival we were sent some complimentary fresh fruit.
There's also an in-house safe for those inclined to use such things.
There's a balcony accessible through the window, which houses the air-conditioner, but there's enough room for a couple of people to stand and enjoy the view of the city and the river.
At the time we were here, they appear to be working towards installing a roof-top bar, and a ground floor swimming pool, but these are not available at time of writing.
Overall, a standard good quality hotel at a good price, and if nothing else, the shower alone earns my recommendation.

I stayed here 6 nights in February, 2019. The external hotel is beautiful, reminded me of the traditional Wedgewood China, pastel blue with ornate white trim. The inside was beautiful hardwood, floors, banisters, furniture. But many small items were neglected. I had been in hotels all over Cambodia the past month. Only one lost my laundry and misplaced half of it...King Fy. Only one took the partially used soap each day and after two days gave no more...King Fy! Only one had failed to chill the drinks in the mini bar before our arrival...King Fy! Only one required me to go to the desk every day to ask for two packets of coffee and they would not give me more! King Fy! Only one did not empty an overflowing waste basket of soiled toilet paper in the Ladies .room in the breakfast restaurant all week!...King Fy! The breakfast was minimal...cheap..the whole management was cheap! Tragic waste of a great resource!

I spent my entire week at KingFy, it was an absolute honour. The customer services is brilliant and I am so pleased to have staff avaliable 14/7 to accept my call. On top of that, the room was very clean, however WIFI did not work at all.

We could see Sky Bar from the other side of the river, and thought (on account of the flashing lights) that it was a rooftop nightclub. It is not. Is is also not - despite the name - a bar. It is a restaurant. Now this is not uncommon in Cambodia. Bars are resturants, just as hotels are cafes in Sri Lanka. It’s confusing to the uninitiated, but my problem, not Sky Bar’s.
So we walked in: the waitresses tried to ignore us and the “manager” had his feet up on his desk. True story. I asked the waitress a couple of questions and was roundly ignored, but thankfully we’d brought a local and he was able to garner significantly more attention.
We ordered two dishes and a bottle of wine. The fried rice was very tasty but the spring rolls were too oily. The wine was fine.
Unfortunately, Sky Bar could be the setting for a BBC documentary on the insect kingdom... it is rife with every sort of annoying insect, and not a control measure in sight. We had to leave as it was just too uncomfortable.
In short, I’m not sure if the pig ordinary service or the pending death by inhaling insects was the reason I’m rating it as low as I am. Until staff get a bullet up them and insect control measures are introduced, do not bother with Sky Bar. Sad, because it looks great from the other side of the river!
