Seng Hout hotel is located in the heart of Battambang city. Our hotel was built in 2008. Our room... There are beautifully appointed rooms with cable televisions, air conditioners, refrigerators, hot and cold water. Seng Hout hotel is in a safe, quiet area closed to Psar Nat Market and cafe area. You can easily access to the internet with free wifi. Additionally, rooms are designed with a spacious space to overlook the city and the garden terrace. You can relax and see the spectacular sunset as you enjoy a drink on the rooftop of the hotel with the views over the city of the surrounding mountains.

The price was low so I wasn’t expecting 5 star but honestly this hotel would be lucky to make 3 star. First of all, there are two Seng Hout hotels - the original one on the corner and the second one about 50m along the road. The original one had rooftop pool and bar, massage service, etc - all the facilities. According to our tuk tuk driver (excellent English), it was closed during Covid and has not reopened. I don’t know if the second hotel, where we stayed, was Seng Hout #2 before Covid or whether it was another hotel and the owner of the big one bought it and renamed it when she closed the original. If you check through the 166 photos of the hotel on Trip Advisor, you can see photos from both hotels all mixed together, along with other photos of mould, cracks in wall, mouldy shower curtains etc - things you don’t normally see on websites. My room was under the swimming pool and the filter machine was turned on at about 7.30 am and ran until 8.30pm, meaning I had the background noise of a whining machine all day in my room. Recommend not taking a room near the lift on 2nd floor. There is no breakfast or bar - it is more like a hostel. There is a rooftop terrace on 5th floor but no bar or other facilities apart from a big table and some seating. The pool is on the 3rd floor. Rooms are not made up daily. On arrival, your room will have towels, water and toilet paper but if you want clean towels, more water and more toilet paper on 2nd or 3rd day, you have to collect it yourself from reception. Behind the reception desk were four people playing cards all day and one of them was the receptionist. So staff can play cards all day but cannot check water and toilet paper in the rooms. Don’t use the hotel’s washing service - yes it is very cheap $1 per kg, but it does not get picked up until the following morning and is not returned until that evening. So we checked in at 1 pm, handed in the washing and were told “tomorrow morning”. This was not true. It did not return until 7.30 pm the next day. Find a laundry outside the hotel. In the heat, our clothes would have dried in 1 hour. Apart from the noise of the pool filter all day, my room was OK - I was by myself so quite big enough. It had a functioning air conditioner and also a fan, which was great as the weather was nearly 40C every day. The shower worked OK and has a shower curtain, which I like because it means the whole bathroom floor does not get wet. My bed was comfortable, although the bottom sheet was too small for the mattress and could not be tucked in at the head or sides. When you check in, you will be given your room key and the remote controls for the air con and TV - I guess people steal them. Wifi works fine. Location near the market is very good and not too far to walk to places to eat and drink. The owner, who has the pharmacy over the road, is very friendly but the staff at the hotel need a good manager. I actually wondered if they were university or college students doing part-time work. So if you expect normal hotel service, this is not the place for you. But if you just want a clean and comfortable room for the night, and you are on a budget, this hotel will be just what you’re looking for.

The property was well located and close to all the activities we scheduled. The room was clean and checking in was really easy. We didn't spend much time at the hotel, but the room had all the amenities we required. However, I asked the property if it'll be possible to check in earlier to which they replied that it can not be arranged beforehand and that the staff will assist us to the best of their abilities when we arrive. We arrived 3 hours before the check-in time. The hotel staff was friendly, but a fee of $5 had to be paid. I don't mind paying a $10 fee, but this could've been communicated beforehand. The property has a really nice swimming pool, but it can only be used until 20:30. Honestly, we rarely spend time at the hotel, but I feel there are better options nearby for the same price.

The building is very thin wall and floor, surrounding sounds was very noisy, I couldn’t sleep well. I asked receptionist (night shift) to tell please be quiet to other guests (Cambodian Local Tourist) but he said “No problem, Don’t worry”, and he didn’t work any... Swimming pool’s water was slimy too!

I'd rather stay other hotels with lower price for the same or better quality...Only good thing was the location, it's in the centre of the city, 30 sec walking to the market place. There are some other hotels nearby for the lower price and same / better quality

The positives- The location of the hotel is good, being located right near the main marketplace. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The air conditioning worked and there is a lift to 4 floors. The room was generally clean, although the bathmats were grubby, but replaced on request. My expectations were fairly low for the hotel and I was willing to take a chance for the price I paid. I was surprised that it was a bit better than I expected for the price. The negatives- The pool is on the very top floor, the lift doesn't go all the way up. So you must walk up to the final floors via the stairs. If you have any mobility issues, this is a problem. So I was unable to use the pool. For anyone in a wheelchair, or with mobility issues, the rooms and bathrooms are not accessible despite there being a lift. The bathrooms are up one step from the room floor level. The staff spoke very little English which was a little problematic, especially when they tried to get me to pay when we checked out, despite paying in full on before staying. Rooms with balconies don't have a private balcony, but a table outside your door on an outside verandah. We didn't have chairs.

My husband checked in before me a couple of hours otherwise I would have asked for another room ! Everything about the bathroom is BAD !! The only good thing is the location in the center of town . Moldy , and needs repair ! The room is ok but the worst we have had so far in Cambodia . I expected much better after the reviews . I would not stay again !

had a decent sized 3 person room with a slight shortage on storage space but was able to manage. the pool was good, rooftop had a calm and chilled out vibe to hangout and the rooms provided phones to call others but difficult to figure out. nice balcony with an unsurprising view, location was fantastic very close to markets, lots of restaurants and many more

Hotel room was spotless, as was the bathroom. Staff v helpful and pleasant. Central location with market across the street and supermarket 6 minutes walk. Many cafes in the area. Riverwalk just a short distance from hotel. Only negative was the Chef taking his month long holiday so no food available but with cafes nearby this was not a great problem.Pool was well used as was the terrace off the 3rd floor. A lovely relaxing spot with flowering bougainvillea, large potted plants, and a swing. I spent a quiet relaxed afternoon here.
