From being "driven" into the hotel by a one-leg oarsman to enjoying the palacial dining room, this is a magical place. The contrast between life here, and the abject poverty in Myanmar fomented by years of dictatorship is instructive.

We spent two wonderful nights at the hotel. The design of the estate and, in particular, the rooms/houses has been beautifully thought through to create a self-contained oasis of calm and peacefulness, just what we wanted after a succession of very busy days sightseeing! The staff were excellent and the service impeccable, the food was very good. Strongly recommended.

The fact that the long tail boats with their load motors are not allowed up to the hotel is the first idea one gets that this place places importancce on the wellbeing of its visitors. About 500 yards away, a one legged rower steps on board from a boathouse to bring us to the jetty. Here we were met with...

The hotel offers a series of bungalows on a large lotus pond located on a side channel off the main lake. This was good since it cut down on the noise of the long tail boats zipping constantly across the water. You can access the hotel from the main road, but the access is mostly by boat which is the...

We got here by taxi from the airport, in which case the first impression wasn't very good as we arrived in what would be the loading Bay Area. The other way would be to get taxi to the lake and then finish the last leg of the journey by boat. It's an hour away by car and if you negotiate...

We arrived at the resort by boat from Nyaung Shwe. Some 100 m from the hotel, motors are no longer allowed. A rower came on board and leg-paddled us to the jetty. This exemplifies the resort's emphasis on quiet and relaxation. Our cottages were on the lake. From the terrace, the sunsets were beautiful. Our room had binoculars provided for...

From the breath-taking sunrises and sunsets over the lake to the wonderful massages, this is a place to relax and enjoy yourself. Our lakeside cottage was huge and well appointed...couldn't ask for more. Quiet, peaceful grounds. A bit of a hike from our cottage to the restaurant...if you are mobility challenged, you might want to ask for a closer cottage;...

The hotel itself is really lovely. This I would give 5 stars. We had a cabin right on the lake, it was large and comfortable. Gorgeous setting, friendly staff, excellent restaurant and bar. Every meal was superb. We really liked that the water in our rooms was in glass bottles. Loved the spa, great gift shop, sweet burmese cats. But...

We stayed here for 2 nights in February and could have stayed a bit longer to explore the area more. This a lovely resort and the lake villa we had was really comfortable, clean with lovely bathroom and great outside shower. The food was great with lots of local dishes on the menu, using fresh produce. Service was excellent and...
