We stayed 2 nights: super view, very nice room, helpful manager. We highly recommend the Victoria Cliff hotel. You need to take a cab to get to town which is not great. We took a small boat to go back to Thaïlande.

We stayed here the night before our cruise. We reserved the ocean suites and they are beautiful rooms. The view of the ocean is fantastic and you can lie in your poster bed and see the sea from your balcony. The restaurant is wonderful with a great view as well. The breakfast has a nice variety. The pool near the ocean rooms is wonderful. I would of loved to stay at this hotel for longer and would, if passing through again. The only little flaw, the shower has open slit windows that allow mosquitoes into the shower. They have a sign on the glass, reminding you to keep the glass door closed so they can’t escape the shower and into your room. The room and place was so pretty, I can easily overlook this.

We stayed at Victoria Cliff on a 3 days 2 nights full board package including snorkeling trips. My applause goes to the hotel facility and hotel staff who constantly made the surrounding clean and pleasant always, a talented chef team who can create tasty Thai-Burmese-International menu and hospitality of the hotel staff. The BIG BUT came in with the snorkeling trips. The package CA includes 7 snorkeling sites spread over half day afternoon on first day, morning and afternoon on second day. However, from the first boat trip, the head guide, Sam, decided to cut short the snorkeling and instead ‘do something outside the programme’ which was BBQ and chill on the beach. It did not sound bad if we agreed that we did not want to snorkel. The problem was the decision based on the bigger group he personally took care of without any prior consultation with us. We ended up ‘chill’ on the beach for hours from afternoon to sun down. We were promised full day of snorkeling on the next day. The next day came, morning was fine. Then, we were informed the boat which supposed to take us out for the afternoon trip will not be with us but if we want to we can join with another group, we said yes. We were told the boat will leave at 2.30pm (same time as day 1). We were ready at 2.15 but the boat left, said it was a miscommunication between Thai and Burmese local time (everyone knew which room we stayed and it was 100m away from the meeting point.) Our guide, Sun, could not fix the problem so I had to go to the hotel office myself asking for a tour refund and only then I got the problem fixed with another boat ride arranged. I guess my point is that although the only flaw the hotel has is the Thai boat guides, it diluted customer satisfaction by half. Plus, we booked this package directly from the hotel website thinking it was the most trustworthy but this kind of irresponsible management made us very unhappy.

Dear pimw, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Victoria Cliff Resort that it is our Sister Hotel in Nyaung Oo Phee Island. We’re sorry to read that service was not up to your expectations and have shared your feedback with the relevant management team over there to ensure improvements are made. I understand that they arranged and completed the program on the second day as promised. In fact, the cut short of program on the first day mainly from the level of tide caused the snorkeling program and it was compensated by the complimentary BBQ on the beach. The guide services & communication that you mentioned, is great value and will help us for the improvement. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem and prevent future occurrence. Once again, please accept our sincere apology for not being able to make your stay memorable. We all hope for the opportunity to host you again in the near future on both properties. Best regards, Direkrat Hongsakula General Manager Victoria Cliff Hotel & Resort, Kawthoung

The location and view are spectacular but the room and service are average. We were put in a room with single beds. The room was very hot and takes hours to cool down each time you go out, power goes out when the key's removed. The cleanliness is below standard and there were stains on the pillow cases. Previous guests had been smoking in the room.

Stayed 2 nights at this Victoria Cliff Resort at Kawthaung. We stayed at an ocean view villa on our 1st nite, the room & view were really nice. Dinner area also has a great view. Though breakfast buffet was a bit disappointing as there were not too many choices for a 4 star resort. We were given an ocean view wing on our 2nd nite (after we came back from Nyaung Oo Phee Island). The room needs some updates & it could have been cleaner. The morning of the check out, we mentioned to the reception desk that our flight for that day was 30 minutes delayed as we were informed from our agent on the previous day. The girl at the front desk said she was going to call the airline & confirm & will call bk, but she never called us bk. When we called the front desk again, she said the flight was on time, but it wasn’t, the flight was an hr delayed. We ended up waiting at the airport over 3 hrs. I think the staff wanted to hurry us (about 20 pax) out of the resort. Also when we paid for our meals & massages, the girl at the front desk said our $20 bills were not crisp, she refused to take the money. If we pay by a credit card, they would charge additional 3%. So i gave my crisp $100 bill & they only had $30 in change & I took the remaining change be in kyats. The exchange rate they calculated was also screwy. They do 1500 kyat per dollar or 1440 kyat per dollar depending on if you are paying in kyats or if you are paying in dollars. Shouldn’t the exchange rate be the same if you are calculating kyats to dollars, or dollars to kyats??? I find that for a 4 star hotel, not taking our perfectly fine dollar bills & not having enough change is inconvenient. I think the whole reception area could be better handled, they could be more welcoming, more accommodating, more organized, etc..
