Furniture seems dilapidated, only a few rooms have balcony but no chairs or tables. The a/c is very old as well. It works only in a few rooms. In one of the two we got, it worked in one room and in the other, after 2 hrs or running it continuously, the room temperature was still 27C. Wifi is dismal, really poor signal. There is a garage downstairs but we were told to park on the street. Outside are 36C. Don't expect iron in the room. The hair dryer is most likely one of the first built in the world. Not kidding, an antique. Room is clean, the smell comes most likely from the old a/c vents and furniture. The wooden floors have seen better days. On the up side, the service at the -1 level restaurant is good, really nice people. The panoramic restaurant doesn't seem to work, we've seen spider webs from tables to the chairs. We stayed in Bulgaria at very nice hotels, Maria Palace in Balchik for example. I just feel this one is not one of them. Bulgaria is a country with very nice people, it has a big touristic potential. The government and the people with the means to invest in it are sometimes interested more in making money fast than investing in these buildings to bring them to today requirements. Sad to give a negative review but have to warn travelers, at least to know what to expect.

Majority of staff are very polite but there’s one creepy chef at the front who constantly tries talk to my girlfriend, every time she walks past he always says something, asking questions like are you a student and how long are you here for even though I told him the other day, we’ve also seen him perving on her and it just makes her really uncomfortable, the dinner at night is nice but breakfast has been the same every single day, the lunch is also very basic, just expected better considering we paid all inclusive.

When we booked this hotel we were misled by the name Meridien and thought it belonged to this hotel chain. Big mistake we made... The hotel is run down and could not have a three star rating. All the hotel furniture is old and poorly maintained, including the bedroom furniture. The mattress is very uncomfortable, causing us to have very sleepless nights. Employees are inexperienced or discouraged and unwilling to help... The only thing that is commendable is the hotel's location.

I stayed one night here on a business trip. The hotel is centrally located in the middle of this beautiful historic town. The hotel itself is old but clean. When I arrived at the hotel no smile or hello or any welcome was forthcoming. It was an old style Bulgarian man on front desk. The front office staff did not speak any English and I had to communicate via google translate. The bedroom & furniture was old even the bedspread is old fashioned however the room was clean which is the main thing. There is an old blue shower curtain around the bath instead of a glass partition. Wifi worked fine. In the dining room downstairs one lady spoke English and she was very helpful.

This hotel, hmm. If you don't have a job in the middle of the city, you better stay at another hotel. Friendly staff, but do not speak English (except for the lady at the front desk). Rooms are modestly furnished with old furniture without any appearance. I was most intrigued by the hair dryer that was installed not in the bathroom, as would have been normal, but in the room on the largest and most empty wall (probably wanted to be a decorative object?). In the bathroom, in addition to the shower support mounted above the bathtub, there was also a support mounted on a wall, and under it there was nothing, without any functionality. Breakfast, a little weak. However, the landscape of the mountain view rooms is beautiful.

I did not feel safe in this hotel. I saw no Covid measures, the staff were not having mask or gloves, in the reception was just a plexyglass but they were not wearing mask, the room was not disinfected, in the elevator and inside the hotel the guests were not wearing mask. I am not paranoia with this virus but I need to feel safe in a hotel and a hotel should take all the measures for the guests be safe and this hotel didn’t do this. The room: the photos show something but the room we had was small, sunless and dark. The bathroom is awful, when I took shower the water almost entered into the room because there is no shower cabin or bathtub. I will attach some photos. We paid extra for a nice view and it was worth. Even if the balcony was small, the view was really great. The location: one plus of this hotel is the location. Right in the city center, I could walk from the hotel everywhere I wanted. If you go by car you don’t need to take the car out from garage. Also the parking is a plus, they have a covered garage with a special car elevator. This is amazing considering that in the city is very hard to find a parking space. The breakfast: this was one of the best breakfasts I have ever took. The food was really amazing, nothing to complain. Overall I enjoyed my stay but I can not recommend this hotel during this Corona virus because I did not feel safe.

I have been in that cafe before but after my last visit there I was surprised no one serviced me. Maybe the presence of more than 5 tables shocks the staff who was only one girl. That's pity nice view to be disgusted by the worse service.

Spent one night at this hotel on my way to Varna. Very good location, plenty of shops nearby, nice restaurant. Hotel is silent, clean, welcoming, modern, located on the main street, just 20-25 minutes walk from all attractions. Recommended.

We had a large room with heavy styled furniture , good views of the area from the window. Wi-fi drops in and out. It is all very clean however the bathroom situation is a concern - it is a very high step into the bath for a shower and then the water hits the wall, flows ub=under the bath and floods the shiny tiles making it all very slippery. The towels need to be updated. breakfast was a disaster, we arrived at 7.45 am and many dishes were empty or just with scraps. When we requested some replacement food it took 20 mins for a small amount to appea. Tea was served in paper cups. the staff were very surly and not helpful at all. The only comment was it was Saturday and there were only 2 staff two serve for a bus load of people plus the extras. A very disappointing experience and I would not recommend staying here.

This was the worst hotel we stayed in during our recent trip to Bulgaria. We had high expectations of what we mistakenly thought was a Le Meridien Hotel - don’t be deceived by the name MERIDIAN!There is plenty of choice in the town so why did our tour company send us here ? - a question we shall put to them in the very near future! The first room we were given was depressing, dark , dismal and sparsely furnished - the bed didn’t even have a headboard just a very tired grubby looking green wall behind it. The fridge started to defrost within the first hour so I went down to reception to ask for help and at the same time commented on the lack of a head board .The member of staff simply shrugged her shoulders and said all the rooms were the same -I had already looked at the hotel website and this was certainly not the case. I did not take kindly to her response and after returning to the room someone came to look at the fridge, disappeared and then the phone rang offering a change of room of the same class but very different in style. The attitude of the staff is unbelievable particularly that of the waiter we have just encountered in breakfast - if you can call it that! The coffee machine did not work and no milk was available and again we got shoulder shrugs and no assistance whatsoever. He even removed all the cups! His comment was ‘ not my job’ I went up to reception to ask for help and on my return to the breakfast room the waiter remonstrated with me for complaining to reception! The previous day we had been charged for coffee as it was made at the bar! Breakfast was simply dreadful - no coffee, cold unappetising food and virtually no choice whatsoever. I ended up with burnt toast. The manager needs to get a grip here - the hotel’s selling point is the view from the bar but do avoid at all costs!
