Detailed Reviews
Stay here on most trips to stara zagora as the rooms are clean new and modern with nice large walk in wet room type shower. Hotel is a bit thin on atmosphere but as it's only 2 min walk to centre it docent matter. It's clean and comfortable at a good price.

My family (my wife, me and 3 kids) were passing thru Stara Zagora and we needed a place to spend two nights. My expectations were not very high since I have been in SZ many times before.
Upon arrival however I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is 2-3 years old. Everything inside is done in excellent taste - from furniture to carpets to building details. It is a trully 4 star hotel. The bath is very modern, with rain shower head and bidet. Seems like they have a nice restaurant downstairs, but we never got to try it. The rate includes a breakfast, which was quite good. The location is nothing to write home about but It is close the city center...just around the block. The staff is very curteous and polite. Even the maids were trying the refuse my tip when I asked them to bring an extra bed in the room for my youngest son. The hotel did charge me extra 50 leva for that bed though.
The only drawback is the parking. They have 5 or 6 parking spots across the street in front of the hotel. I don't think the security was an issue since it is monitored by video camera. I must say though that there was always a spot for our car, even thought the rooms were sold out. Bottom line - if you are in SZ, you should definetly consider this hotel. But reserve early. Thanks.

Hotel has spacious rooms and bathrooms. There is a free parking in front of hotel. Nice staff. But, there are some not so nice things about this hotel: poor breakfast. And the worst, we saw some cockroaches inside the hotel.

We arrived in Stara Zagora to visit family for four days.
We researched a lot of hotels and found the Efir to have decent ratings and from the looks of the pictures, reasonable rooms at what I would class as a cheap price.
Having booked the Efir for our entire stay whilst in Stara Zagora we arrived to find the lobby and location very good. Very central in terms of location and the lobby looks smart.
Arriving in our room, the challenge began. It was 27.5 degrees in the room (so said their own in room thermometer). It was about 26 outside so was a hot day! Obviously we turned the air con on to try and cool it. It bleed hot air at us and wasn't getting cold.
My other half and I returned to reception to explain this (as she speaks fluent Bulgarian). She told me she was met with "what do you want me to do". I could tell from the conversation tone that no matter the response, it wasn't meeting my expectation level. In this type of situation, the only response I expect is "I'm so sorry to hear that. Let me see what I can do". Obviously, this wasn't forthcoming. This was followed with "you can find another hotel if you like". Disappointing.
I then explained to reception that we haven't booked a 1* hotel. We have booked a 4* and for this reason. We want to expect a slightly higher level of service. And expect things like air con to work.
At this, they called someone to try and fix it. They explained to us that as it was cold the day before, whatever machine cools or heats the temperature had been switched to warm. They would switch it to cold and within an hour it would be cold.
We accepted this and went to visit family. Upon returning to the room (about midnight I think) we found it to be showing as 28.5 degrees in the room and the air con still warm, not cold.
With this, we called booking agent and organised another hotel (the only 5* in the area which I cannot recommend enough - see my other reviews) and left the next day.
In short, the rooms are fairly simple here but offer a great price. If the air con worked, we would have stayed but not at the expense of being uncomfortable. Whilst initially quite rude (don't tell paying guests to find another hotel) they actually calmed later on in the conversation when trying to help and when we decided to leave were very pleasant.
I can't say whether you'll have a bad experience staying here. If the air con works (and in summer one imagines they'd switch it to cool so you won't have this issue), we would never stay again. You don't want the hassle of service like this. If there's a problem, we are reasonable people. We know you're not a magician. But we do have the right to expect that the rooms a comfortable temperature in a 4*! Especially; don't outright tell me to book another hotel because believe me, I will.
Especially don't say that Even when the other hotel is not much more expensive (£15 per night) and was utterly outstanding. Well worth the extra to not stay here.

The Efir boasts a charm of both old world & modern convenience. Features; Quiet, clean, old world decor, tastefully decorated, centrally located, walking distance to pubs, restaurants, parks & shopping all within a safe neighborhood. Locals can be observed enjoying the parks & coffee shops which makes for a very pleasant experience. The Efir staff was very accommodating and extremely friendly! I very much enjoyed the Efir & would highly recommend for your next stay in Stara Zagora!

I liked the hotel very much - stayed there twice. Everything is new and clean. The stuff is polite and helpful. Great location, excellent wi-fi. Breakfast is included in the price and one can chose between 6-7 different options.

Great location, 5 min to station and 5 min to centre. Clean. It faces a busy street but not noisy. Wi-Fi works well. There were not many guests so breakfast was not rich but had most basic things and the quality was acceptable. We got a good deal online, so it was worth the price but it is usually quite pricey for local standards (not for international though).

We stayed for 3 nights at Efir Hotel we came to a salsa congress and the experience was very good. The Rooms were big and very nice, bathroom was luxurious. The staff did not know english very well so communication was difficult. I recommend this hotel for a comfortable stay!

While transiting Bulgaria we stopped for 1 night in Stara Zagora mid way.
The hotel is in a quiet area and still very close to the center, 5 min walk (with a 5 years old kid with us).
We booked a triple room which was very large, clean with a comfortable huge bed and pillows, very clean and large bathroom, the stay was very pleasant. The second bed for the kid though was quite unstable due to mattresses though so we decided to sleep all in the same bed, which was not a problem due to large size.
The breakfast opened at 7:00 but they served me with espresso much earlier in the morning. The breakfast was standard, with eggs, omelette, selection of cheese, plain yoghurt, milk and 3 types of cereals for the kids, all simple and easy.
There is a small parking area in front of the hotel, free of charge.
In the evening we took a walk to the city center which proved a great thing to do as just few blocks away we found a great green park, with playground for kids, and ice cream shops but also a pedestrian walk with terraces and restaurants.
Is good to have local currency on you and there an ATM in the area.
Very nice experience, I might consider stopping again if ever in the area.

We found the staff to be very helpful - tried their best to sort some troubles in our room. The other advantage was the location - 100 meters from the main street.
Our room was very noisy - you could hear the street traffic as well as the other guests from the neighboring rooms. Breakfast was mediocre.
