We stayed one night at this place and so far it’s been the worst experience we’ve had as travelers! However, being rated as a 3-star hotel, one would expect clean carpets in the room, good ventilation in the bathroom, no sewage water leaks from the toilet bowl, all lights to be in working order and most importantly – air conditioning,...

We have stayed at the Balkan several times and this time was a bit of a disappointment. We had a room on the 10th floor and there was some sort of disco music going on until 2am. Not a good night. It is not a bad hotel and we stay here for the location, but we have stayed at better...

We spent a nice weekend and slept on the 11th floor with great views towards the developing thunderstorm. The rooms were nice and hot water in a second. Easy access to the center by walking. Free WiFi anywhere.

If you are from some places west of Bulgaria you might not consider this a "very good" hotel but I rated it very good because it is better than average by the standards of this part of the world. It is the tallest hotel in the vicinity which makes it easy to find if you are walking around. It is...

The name fits: this hotel is Balkan all the way. Built in the style of the Communist era and could count as a period piece: pseudo-elegance gone a bit shabby with time. The staff are friendly, polite and helpful, speak some English. The room and bath were clean enough and everything was in reasonable working order. The hotel is quite...

The first impression comes from the friendly people that are very polite and friendly. The tall building and the view from the top floors is incredible, you can see the amaizing city.As a bonus to that it is very cheap and have a restaurant.

I stayed one night in dbl room on 11th floor. This is large socialistic hotel with renovations. Higher floors give you good panoramic view over the town. Rooms are large with standart decor. There is panoramic restaurant on the top floor. I stayed before in another hotel in Pleven, but there is big difference between two hotels. I recommend Balkan...

From your first breath you can feel the history of the hotel- build as fansy socialistic building, today the hotel is equipped with a/c, free wifi everywhere and polite staff. But it is still oldish. The rooms are combination of soc tales in the bathroom and LCD tv in the room. The best part is the price, so the value...
