Basic, but very nice; good breakfast, extremely clean, helpful staff (we speak portuguese, so we do not know how much they deal with english speakers...). Centrally located, at a walking distance of major historic attractions. But the street itself where it looks a bit awful,...More
It is a good option for a few days at São Paulo. Well localized at downtown. Near from cultural centers and restaurants. Please Choose the Room with window far from air conditioned equipment (because that room is so noisy)
The hotel is centrally located in a nice pedestrian street with plenty of shops, restaurants and stalls. Very few foreign tourists in the area (in three days I only saw one Japanese tourist). The area seemed OK safe for me. Plenty of armed police around....More
Spent 2 nights at the Joamar, and that was enough for me. I will say the it was not the hotel’s fault, it’s just that the area it is in is not one I would want to return to. The hotel itself was good. It...More
Perfectly adequate little hotel about two blocks from the Galeria do Rock. Getting a cab for an early Sunday morning flight turned out to be harder than expected, but no complaints otherwise. I would stay there again if we make it back to SP.
Part of the historical center of São Paulo, República was once a fancy residential area. República Square holds a craft and food fair every weekend, right by the subway entrance. Nearby, one of the neighborhood’s main attractions is the Italian Building, where you can see the city from the 42nd floor. The Copan Building also deserves a close look, with 1,160 apartments and a huge floor area that inspired
filmmakers and other artists. To get the feeling of São Paulo in the beginning of the 1900s, visit the Municipal Theatre – you will be amazed by its architecture. The area also features several galleries. República is a great area to explore during daytime, but use caution if visiting alone at night.
