As the largest Japanese community outside of Japan, Liberdade offers a variety of shops with Asian products and restaurants with diverse Asian cuisines. Liberdade is a world unto its own - you may forget you are in São Paulo. The streets are decorated with red lamps and there are various markets. On the weekends, there is a great street fair at Liberdade Square, starting right by the subway entrance. The Oriental Garden and the Busshinji Temple are beautiful spots to visit, and if you want to learn more about Japanese culture and immigration to Brazil, stop by the Museum of Japanese Immigration.

We were a group of a dozen Gateball players who were competing in the World Gateball Championships in São Paulo, Brazil. We needed to select a place close to transport. The reviews on Trip Advisor for Leques Brasil Hotel encouraged us to book for some of our group for five nights and us for eight nights. Being close to St Joachim Metro Station was good. Older people travel free of charge on the Metro. The area around Liberdarde is very busy with people going off to one of the many Universities nearby or to work at the hospitals around the area. Being busy it is safe to wander around. Japanese food choices predominate in the area. The hotel served very good evening meals and there is a buffet. The breakfast selection is big, delicious and interesting. I enjoyed my first tapioca omelette. There is a sweet ( coconut and condensed milk) or a savoury ( cheese) option. The staff are very helpful and cheerful. Angelica was the competent English speaker who provided tourist information. One point to note is that a previous reviewer said there was a laundromat opposite. No, that is not the case. We all were happy to use the services of a Lia duty where you drop off your clothes and collect the next day ironed and smelling sweet. Ask at the desk. It is situated down the hill on St. Joachim road opposite the fitness centre. Prices were reasonable.

This is an inexpensive, basic hotel that fills that role very well. Located off the beaten path in Liberdade, the hotel staff are friendly and most speak English, particularly the reception desk staff. The rooms are very basic: indoor-outdoor carpeting that is stained; very firm bed with basic sheets; individual ventilation unit that works well; good water pressure and reliable hot water; WiFi that is free and mostly reliable but with slow speeds; and in-room safe. My room did have a stench of stale urine from the bathroom when I walked in the door but this did not seem to reach the bedroom. Breakfast is free but is also basic: decent coffee, scrambled eggs that include the occasional egg shell, a toaster that is slow and only toasts one side of the bread, and some other breads along with fruit, cheese, and breakfast meats. Electricity went out twice in one day while I was there. The deficiencies would have bothered me more except that this hotel is inexpensive and is aiming to just be a good, basic hotel so my expectations were low. In this role, it succeeds and thus gets four stars.

The hotel is situated in Liberdade, the Japanese area in Sao Paulo. There are plenty of good restaurants in the area. The staff is amazing helpful even though the majority doesn't speak English. Every time we got what we wanted with a smile. Rooms are spacious, we had a kingsize bed and slept well, bathroom is well equipped with an amazing shower. After reading a lot of reviews about several hotels on the internet we were happily surprised when we entered the room. It was bigger, the bathroom was spacious and we had a hairdryer. The food in this hotel is very good and the breakfast is just awesome. Several kinds of bread rolls, toppings, fresh fruits, fresh juices, sweets and tapioca. We definitely would go back to this hotel.

The hotel situated in the Asian district of São Paulo. It has very friendly and attentive staff. The lunch buffet is good food, for 37R pp. the rooms are clean and big enough with decent size bathrooms. It is very close to São Jauquim metro. And liberdade is only a short walk up the road. There is a good laundrette opposite that has a next day service and is per kilo. I would recommend this hotel.
