Ipanema is considered Rio's crown jewel. It offers the best view of the sunset from Arpoador and is inspiration for the legendary song, “The Girl from Ipanema.” Ipanema is an upscale area, home to many high-end restaurants and luxury shops, many of which can be found on the charming Garcia d'Ávila Avenue. The neighbourhood is very rich culturally, housing many art galleries that show contemporary art. There is also a great variety of nightlife in the neighbourhood, which buzzes with many options for every taste.

Great location, small place. Majority of the people were welcoming and most of the staff was. One of the staff members consistently seemed like she bothered with me and I have no idea why. Was super polite and pleasant. Am a gringo but would try to communicate as much as possible in Portuguese or Spanish.I don’t know what her deal was, regardless it tarnished my experience a little bit but the rest of the staff made up for it Nonetheless, its a good choice for Ipanema being so close to the beach and in a safe location.

Pros * Location is great in Ipanema and not too far from subway, which is useful during Carnaval. * There was one guy from Argentina who was quite friendly and helpful. * Has wifi Other than that, some things to note: * Bathrooms are filthy - used razors, band-aids, dirt, empty bottles etc * Lockers are dirty * Bedroom Ceiling had mold, floors are dirty * Bedside lamp didn't work * On 2 nights I had to ask them to turn on the A/C because they apparently forgot (and on one night they did fan-only mode by accident, turning the room into a sauna) * Very noisy as they play loud music in the main area most of the day * They cancelled my Booking.com reservation and instead charged me in person, which I assume they do to avoid paying agency fees (another guest had the same experience). This isn't usually an issue but I missed out on bonus points because of it. * During breakfast I asked the lady if there was a fork - she looked around briefly and said "no" and carried on doing what she was doing. * Refused to give me a receipt in person, said they will email it to me. Of course they didn't. Summary: Only stay here if you have no other choice and don't touch the floor barefoot :)

Great hostel where to chill in a SAFE neighbourhood in Rio . Cheap and well equipped hostel. The staff is ready to help all the time. Very close the beach and well connected to Copacabana for a nice walk. Enjoy

Staff are super friendly and helpful. The place is clean, fruit, bread and eggs for breakfast was good enough. The rooms can be a bit cold coz they leave the air con all night so ask for a blanket just incase it gets cold at night and Diego makes great caipirinhas!!!

I booked here for last October via Agoda to experience new atmosphere , and to save my budget for accommodation. My card got charged thrice even though I paid cash upon checked in so instead of saving some money, I lost thrice the amount 😡 The hostel is small and the room is quite dirty and lot of mosquitoes or maybe it's because of some filthy guest. Bathroom is small but it serves the purpose. Wifi only works in the reception area and breakfast was just enough. I would never recommend this hostel, except if you want your money to be stolen and dont even get someone to contact to ask for a refund. Location is good though because it is near the office I have some business with.
