Casa Marques is situated at the top of Rio, in Santa Teresa. Thus, the view is amazing- to you right is the christ-statue and in front you see the Sugar Loaf mountain. The downside is that it is some distance from the beaches, but the nice infinity pool makes up for that. The casa is filled with modern art, books and decorations- I loved it. The staff are polite and competent and you feel welcomed. The only minus is that the place is small and only serve breakfast, not dinner or lunch. You need to head out to eat at night, or order food.
Casa Marques is a beautiful boutique hotel in Rio‘s Santa Teresa district. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. Especially Marianna was very supportive and did everything to make us feel welcome. The pool on the roof top is an absolute highlight and the best place to enjoy the view over Rio.
Wonderfully friendly staff, only to happy to help on any manner of requests. Great food at breakfast. An infinity pool and deck to die for. We had such a wonderful time and we’re just so gutted we had only booked three nights there and were to late to extend. Our room was large well laid out with cascade shower and bath looking out through floor to ceiling glass over the canopy outside and the view( also shared by the room) of sugarloaf mountain and the sea. Would we come back? YES in a heart beat.
This hotel is a bit difficult to get to and some uber drives might refuse to go all the way there because of the many communities (favelas) in the area. But fear not as it is actually quite easy to get there and really safe too. The views you will get, the warm welcome by everyone, the amazing bed and peaceful pool area are all worth it! We just could not get enough of the views and woke up everyday at 5:30 to watch the sun rise. It was definitely one of the most amazing views I’ve ever experienced and I have traveled extensively! Rio is my birth land and I haven’t visited in more than 20 years. We felt very safe, there were lots of police around the city. We haven’t visited much of Santa Teresa but it’s a very interesting area. The hotel is not walkable anywhere but taxis and uber are cheap to go around. The staff at Casa Marques were really friendly, we ordered ifood in the evenings and their breakfast is really tasty. Anything you need you just have to ask and they will do their best to help. 100% recommend this place!…
I spent a weekend break in Rio after a week working in Brasília. I really liked the hotel: great people, great Franco-Brazilian breakfasts. It is about a 45 minute walk from the start of artistic Santa Teresa. Taxi/Uber fares are cheap and I only had one occasion where the failed to find it. It is a half mile walk to the nearest tram stop- and this makes a pleasant way to get down to central Rio (where it connects pretty well with the metro). I tried calling in a delivery meal on my first night. On the other nights I went to the Mercado das Pulgas and Espirito Santa(45 minutes on foot/ten minutes in taxi): both were better options. I jogged on the road one morning: it felt quite safe (not sure I would do it after dark though). One small but: my room was marketed as a “suite”. But it was really just a room. Last thing - the view is incredible.…
