I spent 4 nights here as a Hyatt Globalist. Booked a king bed room and was upgraded to an Ocean Lagoon Suite at check-in. This was my first visit to Brazil and to Rio, I selected the Grand Hyatt Rio as I wanted to be situated away from Copacabana and relax away from the crowds. This hotel is perfect for you if you are seeking a more chilled and relax vibe. A BIG and SPECIAL thank you to all the following staff who made this stay memorable and fun: Guilherme (GM) Claudia (Guest phoneline) Giza (F&B) Victor (Grand Club) Fernanda (Front Desk) Ingrid (Grand Club) Felipe (Asst Mgr) Priscilla (F&B) Rafael (Breakfast) Kayna (Breakfast) The property is pretty big and the rooms were very spacious. I enjoy long walks - and this hotel was perfect for this to both navigate around the different buildings + go for a walk on the beach to watch the sunset and hear the waves. Hotel offered daily bike rentals and different resort activities each day. I utilized the grand club which had great staff and happy hour selections, the sauna, steam room, spa and the gym. I did not have enough time for the pools but they looked perfect to relax in when the sun was shining. My Suite had plenty of water, Granada amenities, outdoor balcony space, plush pillows, comfortable linens and a lot of space to sleep, nap, eat, work, or just relax and enjoy the views from the top floors. Breakfast buffet each morning was amazing, with almost over 50 different food choices for you to choose from. My favorite was the Vegan Yogurt, granola, egg omelette station, Iced espresso, and pineapples. I ordered in-room dining for dinner and lunch: My favorite was the Picanha steak, Tuna, and the Grilled Chicken. The staff truly do their utmost best to make sure that the hotel guests have a great experience. I always believe it's on the hotel guest to talk to the staff and let them know what it is that you need - so that they can accommodate your requests and do their best. The entire team here at the Grand Hyatt Rio has been amazing and courteous. Although I visited here during offpeak travel season, I would recommend this hotel to you and would stay here again on my next visit. Keep in mind that this location is about a 45-55 minute drive from the nearest airport, and is about 35-45 minute drive from Copacabana. I'll need to ensure I spend more days here next time!!…
It was a very special experience. Not only the hotel, facilities, breakfast, etc, etc were amazing, but the staff was exceptional. Going above and beyond to make our stay smooth, pleasant and very special.
This is a very beautiful hotel and I’m so glad I was able to stay on my recent trip to Brazil (first time in Rio). If you are looking for a peaceful quiet getaway with a beautiful beach that isn’t crowded this is it. The neighborhood feels very safe too. The hotel staff is very friendly and spoke excellent English. Breakfast was delicious and the lounge is beautiful with excellent service. Rooms are spacious and modern with comfortable beds. The one small thing I noticed is the rooms have a lot of humidity so if somehow a better system to remove the humidity can be put in the rooms would be even more comfortable. The hotel is just a few years old, but is starting to show some slight wear. The pool was beautiful- the water was cold (April) but it was very relaxing. The beach was great! There’s a nice bike path next to the beach and the hotel offers bicycles. I hope to return to this hotel again, it was an excellent stay overall!…
We stayed at the diplomat suite which has a nice layout for our big family, with great views of the beach and the lagoon. The hotel has a great location with nice restaurants close by and amenities that made our stay a total relax. The spa area is stunning with high end design, wet/dry sauna, relaxation rooms and a variety of services. The gym is very well equipped with nice amenities such as water, towels. The hotel provides bikes and we used it to travel the length of the beach. In summary we enjoyed our stay and will return to experience again the hospitality this place has to offer.
I will highly recommend this hotel for a number of reasons, but most of all, if you are looking for a full service property with a very special vibe...this is it! This resort property is so well run with staff that are extremely caring ...I can't beging to tell you. There are three restaurants...to me the best is Shiso (the Japanese restaurant ) run by Chef Guillherme...sit at the sushi bar and treat yourself to a five-star Japanese meal (cooked or raw). This Brasilian Chef has lived and studied in Osaka, Japan and knows what he is doing. (I am a freuent traveller to Asia for over 40 years and can tell you I am extremeley discerning. Other things I liked about my experience was a good Brasilian Breakfast in Tano. The pool is super clean and has a full time lifeguard staff: the gym is abundant with modern equipment...I might as well have gone to my membership gym. The bech is across the street and although Brasilian beaches are public, there are very nice lounge chairs with umbrellas and hotel staff to assist you. Remember to take a beach towel with you (from the pool staff). There are bicycles to ride on kilometers of safe riding lanes. The rooms are very well appointed and with luxuriant Granado Soaps and Moisturizers (Granado is a to notch brand in Brasil for over 100 years). The location of the hotel may look far from Rio de Janeiro, Ipanema and Copacabana...it's not. The tunnel system has you in Rio Centro within 40 minutes in moderate to peak traffic times. Go to Sugarloaf and Christ the Redeemer in similar travel times.Tijuca forest and Parque Lages was 35 minutes away on a Monday and Confeiteria Colombo (as must go in Rio...even my great-great granparents had there first date there in the 1800's is such a wonderful treat!) Take my advice, book the Grand Hyatt!…
By the building and interior it is a Grand Hyatt. But neither the service nor the service orientation is on a Grand Hyatt level. If you are a business person and expect breakfast before 7 am or in the room - forget it.
Door men are the most welcoming that you would expect Reception, very disappointing, slow in resolution, no Hyatt membership differentiation very often lots of time waiting in queues to be attended List for worlds to describe the Japanese restaurant experience from the food to the chef and all its staff. Amazing highly recommend Breakfast a joy to begin your day with all the simpathy from all staff
I stayed at the Grand Hyatt from August 13 2021 till Sept 1 2021.I caught covid during my stay and had to stay 14 more nights. On my check out day of Sept 1 2021.I was double billed for $2040. Since I got back to Texas USA . I have made numerous phone calls .I was referred to their email.I have sent many emails to the Grand Hyatt in Barra Rio de Janeiro.I have not got any responses as of tonight. The clerks at front desk were nice during my stay and room service was just ok.The food was cold. The menu is very limited .The Japanese Resturante was closed most of the time and both places close like at 9 pm.This was such a bad experience and such a high cost .It was just crazy.Their are many better hotels in Rio.I will soon be taking the Grand Hyatt to court.I promise it will cost them more than $2040. Lol…
First time in Brazil 🇧🇷, and we decided to do the first half of the trip in Copacabana (see review on our stay at Fairmont!) and the second half at Grand Hyatt in Barra de Tijuca. Every good thing you've read about this resort is true!!! VIP service, beautiful property, luxury amenities, good restaurants, and peaceful beaches (nothing like Copacabana, lol). From the moment we arrived Ingrid was there to welcome us with a smile to our Presidental suite (which was also Beautiful!). It was like we had known her for years and she was part of our family! Everyone made our 9 yr old son feel included and welcomed. Victor and Karina also went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. As did everyone in the Grand Club Lounge, pool and restaurant attendees, and in concierge and reception. Of course I tried the Atiaia Spa and it included all the luxury amenities - sauna, steam room, showers, serene relaxation spaces, etc - and my Atiaia signature massage was amazing! The stay at Grand Hyatt was 10/10 - definitely would recommend if nothing more than for the service we experienced from the amazing staff!…
Excellent front desk especially Alice. Very friendly and attentive restaurant service. You have to request ice for room. Bell service needs work in handling transportation. Could have been a language barrier. They only spoke Portuguese.
