Had the pleasure of staying here for two weeks for business. It was a good stay in an excellent hotel. The staff were great, from housekeeping to breakfast to front desk and concierge. All spoke some English but most spoke well. The food was excellent all the way around. Breakfast had a vaste selection of bread, hot food, freshly prepared eggs, and local delicacies. Coffee, juice, and other drinks were also there in abundance. Room was clean, cool, and only had two minor issues: the patio door wouldn’t lock, and the light switch in the closet didn’t always work. The room was on the back side, facing the lagoon, quiet and never in the sun. He view was great.p and the backside was more quiet than other rooms facing the courtyard. Polls were good. Beach service was also good. Bike loan was useful and easy. Ultimately the whole experience was great and at an excellent (corporate) price. I would go again.…
Great accommodations and wonderful staff. Easy access to beach and the restaurants are great. Was there for my birthday and the staff left a really good cake and card in my room. Helicopters and planes fly non-stop over the hotel (low) from sunrise to sunset is my only complaint.
In the Barra da Tijuca area of Rio de Janeiro, away from the more crowded and touristy areas of Ipanema and Copacabana, which is nice if you want some peace and quiet. You can still reach those areas by grabbing an inexpensive Uber ride but give yourself extra time (45 mins to 1 hour) as traffic can get really bad. The hotel looked newer and larger compared to the other hotels in the Ipanema/Copacabana areas since there's more area here. Check-in was quick and the staff member, and everyone I ran I into throughout my stay, were friendly. Right beyond the lobby was a large pool and lounge area, though I didn't see many people hanging around there because it was either too cold or windy. The beach is conveniently across the street and the hotel provides chairs and towels to use, which is a good thing because they're charging a resort fee per day. Once again, since it was cold, the beach was empty, and I noticed only two or three people that took advantage of this service. If you're not a pool or beach person, they also had bike rentals and daily activities that changed based on the day. There weren't much dining options within walking distance, but fortunately there were three restaurants at the hotel. I was able to try all three and each were pretty good. There's also a Grand Club with an impressive selection of snacks and drinks. Stayed in the Diplomat Suite. Wow, this was one awesome room! First of all, it was huge with a large living room with an L-shape sofa and dining area with a kitchen and a dinner table that could seat six people. Warning about the Nespresso machine in the room. There's a label on the power cord that says to plug it into either a 110v or 127v outlet. There's one labeled "127v" near the machine, but it's deceiving as the plug doesn't fit. Right above the 127v outlet is a similar black outlet, but this one is slightly larger and the plug fits. However, do not plug it into this one! This black one is 220v and plugging it into this one will cause the machine to quickly burn out and smoke. Instead, go downstairs or call the front desk and ask for an adapter. There was also a device that could connect via bluetooth or cable and cast your music throughout the room, but unfortunately I wasn't able to figure it out. It looked cool though. The bedroom was on the opposite end of the kitchen and is a cozy corner room with two of the four walls being floor to ceiling glass. The bathroom was next to the bedroom and had a classy white marble design. The room also had a fairly large balcony with furniture that looked out onto the hotel pool and beach/ocean across the street. One entire side of the room was glass that had two large sliding doors that led out into this balcony. This was cool, but at the same time scary because one day it was extremely windy and the glass and sliding doors kept shaking loudly. I also had to secure some of the cushions from the balcony furniture for fear of them blowing away. If I ever find myself in Rio again, I'm definitely staying here. However, it's going to be during their warmer and calmer (weather-wise) months so that I can fully utilize their pool and the Diplomat Suite's balcony.…
Thoroughly recommend this hotel. Visiting Rio, but at a nice distance. The area is safe and very nice. It’s 30 minutes to downtown Rio (£9 by Uber), but you definitely don’t want to stay in downtown Rio. Downtown is worth visiting but stay where it’s safe, clean and green. We did all the Rio sites, but stayed in Barra de Tijuca. The hotel is impressive, two great pools, good bars and food and a beach across the road. It’s well worth booking a club room and having access to the Grand Club lounge. Open every day, we had free breakfast, soft drinks and snacks. And 5.30-7pm free alcohol and a well stocked buffet. We really made use of it for a light bite and drink before we went out. 24 hour kiosk serves food, snacks, drinks, coffees - really useful if you have an early tour booked. Make use of the free boat tour on the lagoon right next to the hotel, really interesting. Birds, alligators, capybara etc. …
Grand Hyatt Rio is in a quiet location of Barra. The beach has an exclusive feel with plenty of local flavour. The staff are always helpful and polite, I had a room with view of the lagoon generous in size and marble in the bathroom adding a luxurious feel. The pool are is great and the food from restaurant Canto tasty and beautifully presented. They have a Michelin star Japanese on the premises which I did not manage to experience but it looks amazing. I averaged over 50 night stay a year for work worldwide wide in similar standard hotels, Grand Hyatt Rio is a gem and is among my favourites.
