Absolutely fantastic Bed and Breakfast in Santa Teresa, Rio de Janeiro. A little slice of paradise. The property is situated at the top of a quiet road in the hills of Santa Teresa, looking down towards the main port and bay, in an ideal location away from the hustle and bustle of downtown/tourist Rio. The area is quirky, laid back, bohemian, and loves to party! Some really cool bars and restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. Taxis can be a bit tricky at night due to the location away from the main hotspots, but if you take a relaxed attitude and aren't rushing around you'll be fine.
The owners, Antoine and Bindu, were perfect hosts. Super helpful and accommodating without being intrusive, full of great recommendations, interesting conversation over the delicious breakfast of fresh fruit, cheeses and omelettes in the lush garden.
We had "The Villa", which is set back from the main property in the tropical garden, and loved it. Extremely spacious, classy and minimalist which helps you enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings. If you want a TV, Netflix, room service like a 4/5 star hotel, this won't be for you, but if you prefer authenticity, gorgeous natural surroundings, and a personal touch in a tranquil part of Rio, look no further.
And that's not to even mention the cute pet tortoises, Daphne and Ivan :)
Can't wait to go back!
Stayed in May 2022.

Casa Beleza lives up to its name "House of Beauty" in every way. Our recently built guest suite is a separate building on the grounds surrounded by groomed mature gardens and tropical jungle.

Our suite was spacious with lots of sitting room, 3 separate private balconies. The a/c worked perfectly and is positioned so that it doesn't blow directly onto the bed, although we usually opened our sliding doors instead to enjoy the evening breezes and bird song. Lots of great bedding & towels. Beautiful breakfast served each morning in the nicest of settings. And, if you wish to use it, there is a lovely secluded pool.

The owner is a wonderful source of knowledge in English about where to visit, eat, and obtain any professional services needed. She speaks several other languages as well. She also arranged for us to be picked up at the airport by Fernando which was much appreciated.

Casa Beleza is located in the lovely Santa Teresa area of Rio so you get the best of both worlds: a taste of real Rio plus all the tourist areas easily reached by Taxi or Uber. An interesting short walk takes you to 2 fabulous restaurants: the Aprazivel and the Tereza with many other bars and cafes nearby.

It is a very rare experience when travelling for us to want to return early every afternoon to our accommodation, but we did here just for the pleasure of sitting on one of our terraces enjoying our before dinner drinks in the tropical forest, watching the tiny monkeys swing past on vines, listening to the colourful birds, and watching the pet turtles creep along the garden paths.

We'd stayed 4 nights in the King suite ocean view at the Fairmont Copacabana when we first arrived in Rio but we preferred our 4 nights at Casa Beleza at the end of our trip before heading home.

What a wonderful place to stay!

Disliked · Nothing. If I'd written up in advance my idea of the perfect place to stay to experience Rio, I would have missed some things that Casa Beleza takes for granted!

Casa Beleza is a handsome old villa in Santa Teresa with two separate cottages at the top of the garden, beautifully restored by Antoine and Bindu. It’s a family home as well as a guest house and is full of character and comfort.

Around and above the main house is a lush garden, lots of birds, views of the city below, and plenty of places to sit and enjoy them, including around the swimming pool.

We stayed in the bungalow at the top of the garden. It has a private terrace with hammocks and is wonderfully secluded and quiet – just the sound of birds and frogs outside. Worth the steep ascent!

Excellent breakfasts: home-made jams, warm pão do queijo, and a lot more! And very useful advice on where to go and what to do.

Casa Beleza is a pleasant ten minutes walk (downhill) to the shops and bars and restaurants of the main street of Santa Teresa.

Casa Beleza was the perfect base for our one-week trip to Rio, in the interesting area of Santa Teresa, ideal for quiet relaxation after a busy day exploring the more vibrant parts of Rio. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient and Bindu especially was full of helpful advice. We stayed in the Villa which was well worth the walk up through the garden and also in the Loft with access up a narrow spiral staircase which was easily managed by a fit grandmother! Breakfasts were delicious and the two resident tortoises kept us amused as they wandered around finishing off scraps of fruit we left for them.

We stayed at this guesthouse for 3 nights when we arrived in Brazil from the UK and 2 nights before we flew home. We stayed in the bungalow, which was up the steps from the garden. It was a lovely space, comfortable bed and effective air con. The bathroom was large and shower powerful. There was a balcony with chairs and a table.
The house is surrounded by plants and flowers and the pool is very inviting when it’s hot.
The hosts Bindu and Antoine are very friendly and helpful, giving tips and booking taxis and airport transfers for us.
Breakfast was included and delicious, lots of fresh fruit, eggs, pancakes, granola, bread and cakes and very good coffee and fresh fruit juice.
We loved seeing the pet tortoise and family dog.
It was a short walk to a really good bar, bar Gomes, with good food and even better drinks.
We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

We loved our stay at Casa Beleza! The property is located in hilly Santa Teresa and is very quiet and beautiful with mature landscaping. Bindu and Antoine are wonderful hosts. They are very attentive to the needs of their guests and are full of helpful tips. Even their beautiful and gentle dog makes you feel welcomed! A delicious breakfast is served on the patio every morning. We spent a total of seven nights there and it was the perfect refuge from the busy streets celebrating Carnival.

This place is absolutely beautiful. The forest garden, the stone staircase, the original house and the beautifully designed bungalow rooms are really exceptional. The standard of details, finishes and furniture in our room was lovely. Bhindu was extremely helpful and welcoming and went out of her way to assist us when our transfer providers were difficult about bringing their minibus up the hill. There are plenty of lovely traditional bars and restaurants a short walk from here. We loved Bar de Gomez. The local area of Santa Theresa is colourful interesting and you can get the tram down into Centro with a little effort. I really loved our room but their was a slightly odd smell. I’m sure they will identify that and remedy it soon though. I strongly recommend Casa Beleza and the room that we had and would happy book it again.

Casa Beleza was a great choice for us. Our English and French speaking hosts couldn't have been more helpful. Don't book any tours until you have spoken to Bindhu or Antoine! Santa Theresa feels very safe, even at night. There are bars and restaurants within walking distance along the steeply sloped cobbled streets. Each room is very different. The bedrooms we used were spacious. One of our rooms had a rather cramped en suite, the other had a luxurious separate private bathroom. Brazilian plumbing and bathroom design does not always match European standards! Our hosts were very attentive to our needs and a problem with hot water supply was fixed the same day.
Breakfast was the highlight of our stay. Sitting on the terrace in the morning sunshine, sipping excellent coffee with an outstanding breakfast was a great way to start our days in Rio.

Really lovely, quiet, family-oriented place to stay in a spectacular neighborhood. The family that owns it is very attentive to guests, stopping by at breakfast every morning to ask about your plans, help point out what you might want to do, and help make arrangements as necessary. The rooms are comfortable and well-maintained. Snoopy the dog is a delightful presence and makes you feel at home.

In my point of view yes. You should consider the general guidelines, but Thereza - with some private guards in the streets at night should be ok. Best and take care. Casa Beleza is great. Jörg

HI at the moment we have 4 double bedrooms, that take 2 people each. The Loft suite has a futon style sofa bed for a third person, or two kids. We are currently building a villa in the garden with roof terrace that will accommodate 4 people.
