Good location and nice large room with excellent bathroom. The breakfast was good and plentiful. The location is excellent for being in the downtown area. Short walk to Lapa and the colorful steps. Three snags - no iron or ironing boards available, walls are thin so we could hear the lift consistently and the air conditioning was noisy. However these... More

Central location with metro station just round the corner. Lapa and the metropolitan cathedral is just round the corner and if you keep walking you could also reach Santa Teresa. Good breakfast and comfy room. Good wifi. They have a rooftop where you can relax or have a dip in a small swimming pool.

Stayed here specifically to see Rio city centre. It is very convenient- a short distance from Municipal Theatre, Library and main shopping streets. Staff v helpful and decent breakfast selection by Brazil standards. Standard rooms a little small, but comfortable. Nice shallow pool on rooftop to watch sunset an city views.

Right next to metro. Small pool and slight view of redeemer from roof. A few restaurants nearby. A good base of operations in the north part of city. Not reccomended for long term stay. Switch to explore southern or other beach areas

This is a very nice hotel in the center of the city, a 5 min walk to the Teatro Municipal and a 15 min walk to the Lapa district known for its night life. The accommodations seemed new, fresh, clean and very comfortable. The included breakfast was an excellent example of the typical Brazilian array of fruits, eggs, meats, chesses,... More

We spent our last night in Rio here and it was a great place to end our holiday. It was very reasonably priced compared to other hotels in priced compared in Rio. We loved to see Chist the Redeemer from our bedroom window! Excellent shower, very nice mattress; neat and clean bedroom, with wood floor. The breakfast is average! But we had dinner at the hotel restaurant and loved the belle meunière fish and beef stroganoff. Worse thing: no valet parking; there is a parking but it's not close enough, so, at... More

Centrally located within easy reach of Metro and parking Cinelandia. Relatively small room, WiFi rather spotty (at least for Skype) and the breakfast buffet also has only limited choices. The gym is tiny, 3 treadmills, 2 stationary bikes (both with broken pieces) and dine free weights - glad I was the only one in there. Good value for a business... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
