This is a very good hostel for people who just need some quiet time at night. They don't allow guests and have a house rule to minimize noise. They offer cheap possibility to clean clothes and a decent breakfast service in a relativly safe enviroment compared to Lapas. I would go there again for sure

I stayed here for 5 nights, I was in the female 9 bed dorm. It was very cramped and the beds are three high. This hostel is really small and homely with two seating areas roof top terrace to eat food at and a sitting room. The breakfast is fine but when we first had our first breakfast there was no cheese and ham. Then by the time I was leaving on Saturday there was no cereal, porridge, dolce de leche and little fruit. Also the only bread available was white I bought a pan of my own brown bread. I had showers daily and out of 5 showers 1 was hot. I tried not to have them at peak times thinking that was the problem but it wasn't. In the hostel every door and window is left open daily so while staying here I received the most mosquito bites. So ensure you have a good bug repellent if you are going to stay here! The hostel was full of Spanish and Portuguese. Didn't really have an opportunity to make friends as I did not have the language. The hostel was just a place to lay your head as during the day and after 8pm it was empty. While staying here for 5 days I saw at least 6 different staff but all were friendly and helpful. Some of the staffs level of English was not great but there was a manager there who spoke perfect English. This is totally not a party hostel at all so if you are looking for that don't come here. It is three blocks away from the beach and two away from the shops. Really close to General Isotopes Metero station which will bring you everywhere for 4.10r. There is a lovely pay and weigh Resturaunt called Broth top of the road, a Lebanese Resturaunt at the bottom of the road which is cheap and not so cheerful - avoid and a lovely restaurant around the corner I can't think of the name. I did enjoy my stay but the things I didn't like: Mosquito bits I got lots here The dorm room was very packed Not a great social hostel Cold showers Not a great breakfast selection Things I liked: Location Staff Roof terrace

We booked to stay here for 4 nights. We only lasted 2 nights. The room was not as pictured. It was very small. Shower faulty and loose fittings. Bedding/towels were filthy and general cleanliness of room was disgusting. We came back on day 2 to find 4 cockroaches in our room. Air con was pretty much useless and extremely noisy. When we told the receptionist about how unhappy we were, we were not given an apology. When we asked for a refund we were told no. We were also asked to give full payment before we were even shown the room. Breakfast was a fly fest and disgusting. I managed half a cup of coffee and that was it. Please don't waste your money by booking here. There are much nicer places to stay in Rio!

Its difficult to find the gate to the place. As it's a green a bit hidden gate. Casa 1. First door to the left. The service is good and several of the people working there speaks english and Spanish. I stayed in a room, shared with 9 women. The place is less than 5 min from Ipanema beach and the Metro: general osório. The place has a nice indoors and outdoor Roof terrace with you can relax or catch up with some work. They have two wifi that can be used. All the rooms, bathrooms, common areas are clean and regularly kept in order. There are several showers, though not enough for half of the people staying there. There is nice breakfast, fruits, baked cake. Included. Price: is a bit stiff, but worth it. Remember to bring your own locker. You can rent towel and bedding so if you want to save some money on that bring your own.

Very good location: not far from Ipanema beach, Cobacabana beach! Metro statiom, supermarkets. But it was very difficult to find this hostel, because the street is very short and it is not marked in the map. Near the entrance there is no any sign too. The fans and AC works very loudly. But hostel is not big and not crowded.
