This is a great hostel if you're looking for somewhere to relax after a hectic day in Rio! Very clean, quiet and comfortable beds and very secure. Two very spacious outdoor areas, good facilities in kitchen, inc. drinking water filter. They even provide labels and pens for you to label your fridge items! Close to launderette, metro and supermarkets. Definitely...

Stayed in lots of hostels. This was pathetic. AC switched off most of the time. Filthy showers. No power sockets. Beds that collapsed easily. Save your money and kip on the street. The lockers are beyond pathetic

For my first trip to Rio, my friend suggested I stay in Botafoga. Halfway between Copacabana/Ipanema and Lapa, this neighborhood was a good spot to have a home base. I looked around at some hotels and hostels and settled on Jabanga as the price for a single room was pretty good. I stayed an entire week. Staff was nice, some...

Some things about the place: it's super-clean, very cozy, has a nice design, there are two bathrooms with few toilets/showers each, it has a little outside area and a big inside lounge with TV, good breakfast. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Well.. I really didn't wanna leave! Some weak spot? Maybe.. - there's no any sign outside, so you...

+ good location + new, fresh hostel + very nice and comfortable kitchen and common area + cable tv in common area + nice, helpful English speaking staff (even before the trip they answered my e-mails and helped me a lot) + clean - double room is very basic – bed and little locker – that’s it; no place to...

Jabaga Hostel worked well for us. It was about a 10 minute walk from the Botafogo metro station, and the walk was fine during day and night despite lots of the houses having electric wire fences. There was a club across the street from the hostel and generally busy streets around, so it was a bit noisy some nights (nothing...

Being first timers in Rio and my first to book a base for our sightseeing, I was really hoping not of a luxurious treatment or place but somehow, cozy and safe. Jabanga didn't disappoint us and actually exceeded our expectations. The place is new, really clean and has nice bathrooms and lounge area where you can watch football or simply...

Staying in Botafogo

Neighborhood Profile
In recent years, Botafogo has become one of the hottest neighbourhoods in Rio. It hosts many modern restaurants with contemporary food and many venues to listen to rock and electronic music. Its numerous bars and pubs make this area a great choice for anyone interested in a great nightlife experience - in fact, some bars in the area are open all night. Casa Daros, an art museum that showcases amazing artists from Latin America, is a must see located in a historical building in Botafogo.
