Lovely hotel between posto 2 and 3 on Copacabana beach. I stay on the super deluxe room with jacuzzi on the bathroom. Spacious with kingsize bed and bathrobe, nice view on the beach. Rapid check in and check out. Breakfast on the groundfloor, some chair with beach view. Small pool with large jacuzzi on the rooftop. Recent hôtel open about 14 years ago and not expensive. A good place to star right on Atlantica avenue.
Hotel Astoria Palace is a very good place to stay. Excellent Location! Nice Clean and Efficient rooms that provide a safe and comfortable place to explore Copacabana. Like most foreign travelers, there were a few hiccups along the way. Their staff (Kamila and Rodreigo) were very helpful to resolve my late checkin and checkout problems due to my flights. All the staff were attentive and did all they could to make my stay enjoyable. Thanks to all!! As mentioned in other reviews, the rooms are not large but were safe, kept clean and perfect for my stay. It is a great value for being at the heart of Copacabana beach! I highly recommend this hotel!!
Pros: Great location right on Copacabana, room was clean, decent breakfast 6am-10am, great view from roof, free WiFi Cons: Rooms are small & could do with a revamp but most importantly they are noisy. My bedroom window would not shut so I heard every time my neighbor went to the bathroom. It was also next to my aircon unit so I got both inside & outside sounds in stereo. There is ZERO soundproofing so you can hear literally everything outside the room, other people, elevator etc.. The cleaners in the morning are super noisy so don’t come here jetlagged - you won’t sleep. You will also get a phone call in the morning to check your room is empty if you forget to put DND on door. Roof area is very small with a basic bar - the barman is unfriendly & at time straight up rude - he never once smiled in all my interactions with him. If you have any visitors they can only sit in the lobby area. If you take them to your room or to the roof you will find R80 added to your checkout bill with no explanation. Apparently this is the norm in Rio however not in my experience. Verdict: I will not return here or recommend to anyone. There are loads of places to stay in Copacabana that are much better value for money, have better soundproofing & far better customer service. …
I was with few expectations, being the lowest price I found for a hotel in front of Copacabana beach. Afterwards, I was more than satisfied because of the clean and relatively spacious room (again, both difficult to find at non expensive hotels in Copacabana or Ipanema). Extra points for the people at the front desk, nice, kind and a high level of English and Spanish language enough to manage a conversation (not usual in Brazil). Great idea having a lateral entrance when coming from the beach, to clean up and drain the feet, but plese make it a nice place. Breakfast is not one would expect in Brazil in terms of variety of fruits and juices.
Fantastic position only real thing that let it down was the pool terrace on the roof was to small. Breakfast ok but a bit repetitive after 10 days. Room very clean and I had a perfect view at the rear of the hotel to Christ the Redeemer !
