Great helpful staff always helping me with my requests before I booked online in the fear of missing out on accommodation when I got to Rio as I was told it will fill and this area gets very busy. So I accepted the R80+6 booking fee as high as it was. I find out the day I am to leave... More

I stayed in the Mango Tree Hostel in April 2016. We chose deluxe rooms with private bathrooms and they were small, but clean and really nice. The hostel has a wide variety of options for breakfast and the service was always very kind. They even helped us to contact a tour agency to do a city tour and gave us... More

I have been to Mango Tree Hostel and stayed in the deluxe room with private bathroom. The room has one queen size bed, one single bed and a bathroom which is fine. But the problem is that we can hear all of the noise from outside. Water flush, opened and closed doors, fan engine... I have been woked up every... More

Stayed here recently. Great location so close to the beach and restaurants etc. I would stay here again. Room was clean and tidy. Lots of information and staff helpful. The only downfall was that the hostel was quite quiet with regard to any group activities, lots were advertised but didn't seem to be many going ahead. Although this is probably... More

Me and my girlfriend stayed in the private twin bed room. Room was great. Bathrooms were clean and the help yourself breakfast in the morning was cakes, toasts, and yogurt along with fruits and jams. Staff was really friendly and often arranged nights out for the guests on the weekends and they came with which definitely increased the amount of... More

Great location, great staff, great breakfast, great bar. Safe neighbourhood and very conveniently located 1 block from the beach and close to restaurants. If you're on a budget, this is the place. Some rooms are quieter than others so if you require a quiet room make sure you ask the staff, it will cost more but is worth it if... More

Wonderful staff, nice rooms and common areas and a great location. Only a few minutes from the beach! There was an incident in the room next to ours but the staff handled it very well. A perfect way to meet new people and get a good nights sleep. Didn't cost much!

Stayed in a private double room with ensuite. The room was basic but adequate, and the sink/toilet were somewhat plugged and there was a fairly frequent sewage smell in and outside the room. The shower was good. Breakfast was ok. Staff were friendly. Nothing is cheap in Ipanema or Copacabana, but even so I'd say Mango Tree is somewhat overpriced... More
