The best of this hotel is it's location. Metro station, downtown, restaurants are all just steps away. Rooms are fine and have wifi, though most do not have the best views. Breakfast is great. The only downsides are the teeny tiny swimming pool on the roof and no hotel bars open for a night cap when we were there.

This hotel has clearly gone through the list of stuff need to be a 4* hotel and implemented them all paying no attention to the quality of its infrastructure or the training of its staff. Lets start with the positives: The location was within a stone throw of a tube station and the municipal theatre. In addition there is a... More

The "Very Good" rating for this review is for the location, service, and the exceptional breakfast buffet. The room itself merits the "Average" rating. We arrived around 11:00 am and were promptly checked in. I asked for a room overlooking the street and we got it. While the room was clean, the bed appeared broken on the side. So, without... More

Very good location; close to downtown, metro, bus station, restaurant, supermarket & domestic airport. Looks old fashioned building, rooms are comfortable. Wifi is good. Hot shower available. Good breakfast. Staffs are nice, they are patience to let you know how to get to the major sightseeing; especially thanks to helpful 'Fabiano' & good speaking English 'Thiago'.

This was very nice place to stay. Hotel is positioned in center of Rio and metro is just behind. Lapa is 5 min. away by walk. Food in hotel was great and stuff is nice, kind and helpful. Do not expect beautiful views from rooms as hotel is surrounded by other buildings. Hotels is in old style but everything is... More

Location is good if you like to go out and about at night. Good variety of restaurants and transportation options are walking distance. More and more cultural venues are opening around here and it is very close to the Santos Dhomont Domestic Airport. Staff was friendly and internet works ok. Beds are not something they can be proud of and... More

We stayed 3 days in this lovely Hotel in Central Rio. It was a very plesant stay. Location is very good. Close to Lapa, just few streets away with all the samba bars, and restaurants. Metro station is very very close and very cheap , 15minutes from Copacabana and Ipanema beeches. Hotel itself is fantastic for the price. Reception staff... More

I've known Hotel Ok, in Rio, for a very long time. It used to be one of those decadent downtown places. However, afer it has been restaured it became a must. It's located in a very nice spot dowtown Rio with very confortable old style rooms and very good breakfast, plus all time restaurant.

Well, due to logistic issues/overbooking of hotels due to the Pope visit in Rio,my company booked this hotel for me.The time to check in in a sort of medieval reception, they escort me to the room through a medieval lift completely dirty and full of any kind of garbage. I spent around 60 seconds in the room then went back to the... More

The hotel has been booked by my company so it wasn't my choice. Very central position but the main entrance is on a skunky street with trash, garbage and drunks at night. The hotel itself is a bit outdated and needs to be refreshed. I was first given a room on the lower floors I think second, with a room... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
